COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have identified two Council Bluffs police officers involved in a shooting earlier this week.
Department officials said Officers Jarrod Poore and Corey Woodward were involved in the shooting.
Police say that around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers spotted a stolen Corvette and that the driver accelerated toward them, so they opened fire before the car struck their cruiser. Neither officer was injured.
A chase ensued across the Missouri River in Omaha, Nebraska, and 33-year-old Jesse Wilkinson was soon arrested.
He was taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
Wilkinson is currently being held in an Omaha jail on an unrelated federal warrant charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
