A Christmas Day assault landed a North Platte woman in jail.

At around 7:31 p.m., on December 25, officers with the North Platte Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Reid Avenue.

According to Officer Rodney Brown, officers arrived and met with the male victim who claimed he had been assaulted by his wife, 33-year-old Rabecca Johns, at another location.

The victim alleged that Johns had slapped, choked and scratched him in front of their children, before leaving the scene.

Brown said there was physical evidence to support the victim’s claims.

Officers made contact with Johns, and informed her that she was being charged with 3rd degree domestic assault, strangulation and child abuse.

At this time, Brown said Johns became combative and told officers that she wasn’t going to jail.

Officers were eventually able to take Johns into custody, and added a charge of resisting arrest.

Johns was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and jailed.
