The North Platte Community College Knights defeated the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers 73-65 on Boy Scout Night at McDonald – Belton Gymnasium. Saturday afternoon.
The Knights are 12-4 on the season and 5-1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX south sub-region. The Lancers drop to 6-11 overall and 1-4 in the sub region.
The Lancers started the game on a 12- 4 lead with 15:54 to play in the game. The Knights went on a 9-0 run to take the lead 13-12 on a three – pointer by Marco Pascolo.
The score was tied at 21 with five minutes left to play and the Knights went on a 16-3 run to take their biggest lead of the game 37-24.
The Knights held a 37-29 advantage at halftime.
In the second half the Lancers cut the lead to three, trailing 58-55 with 8:22 left in the game. But the Knights were able to maintain their lead.
The Knights were led in scoring by Shyquinn Dix who scored 26 game high points. Marco Pascolo scored 15 and Matt Thomas scored 11 points. Pascolo grabbed 6 rebounds and Riley Rice grabbed 5 rebounds to pace the Knights.
The Lancers were led by Kalil Potts with 23 points. Malcolm Glover was the only other Lancer to score in double figures with 13.
The Knights will be in action on Wednesday, January 14 as they face Laramie County Community College at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. CST.
