Doris Lucille Buck, age 97 of North Platte, passed away Wednesday February 4, 2015 at Great Plains Health.
Doris was born on May 7, 1917 in York County, NE to Henry and Dena (Renquist) Swanson. She moved to Arthur County in 1925, attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Arthur County High School in 1936. She married Keith Adkins and had a daughter Sharon. In 1940 she moved to North Platte. On September 2, 1967 she married Martin Buck in Ogallala, NE at the Methodist Church. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Esther-Lois Church Circle, Shrine Auxiliary, Social Order of Beauceant, BPO Does Drove #109 of which she was an officer for many years and president in 1980. She worked at Sears Roebuck & Co. from 1951 to 1977 when she retired. In recent years she spent many hours visiting friends and people in the care homes.
Doris is survived by her daughter Sharon (Don) Macke; stepson Gary (Helen) Buck; grandchildren Rick (Susan) Macke, Kathy Washington, Dawn McKay and Hal Macke; step grandsons Jeff (Bernadette) Buck and Jim (Julie) Buck; 8 great grand children; 6 great step grandchildren; and 8 great great grand children; sister-in-law Roselea Swanson; Anna Buck; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Martin in 1992; her parents; brothers Virgil and Donald Dean Swanson; sisters Ione Loyd, Lola Aufdengarten and Lois Walz; an infant brother and 2 infant sisters.
Memorials are suggested in her name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 7, 2015 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Frank Fitch III officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
