Samuel S. Kamino

Samuel S. Kamino, 93, of North Platte, passed away February 3, 2015 at Linden Court. He was born December 29, 1921 to Tomokichi and Sao (Takahashi) Kamino at Hershey, NE. In 1940, he graduated from Platte Valley High School and went on to graduate with the class of “44” from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. Sam served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1946, then returned to the Platte Valley Community to farm, retiring in 1989. On January 28, 1956 Sam was united in marriage to Ruth Sera at All Saints Episcopal Church at Sterling, CO. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, Platte Valley School Board, Lincoln County Farm Bureau (Director), Diamond K Kiwanis Club (Director), Lincoln County Historical Society and American Legion Post #0163. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of North Platte; his daughter, Ann of Lincoln; his son, John (Miriam) Kamino of Snellville, GA; granddaughters, Angela and Allison; a sister, Mary Kogiku of Riverside, CA; and a sister-in-law, Helen Kamino of North Platte, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Hideo Kamino. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. In lieu of flowers or koden, memorials are suggested to Episcopal Church of Our Savior, Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, or the University of Nebraska Foundation (Fund 7343). Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9:00a.m to 5:00 p.m. Friday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. A private family service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
