Rockies Make Another Move, Ship Out 3B Stewart

While the Colorado Rockies haven’t made headlines by grabbing big name talent this offseason, they continue to tinker with their roster. The Rockies made another trade yesterday, sending third baseman Ian Stewart and a minor league pitcher to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for outfielder Tyler Colvin and infielder D.J. LeMahieu. Stewart played the last five seasons in Colorado but suffered through an injury-plagued 2011. He batted just .156 with no home runs in 48 games, but had hit 43 home runs over the previous two years. Colvin also had a miserable 2011, batting .150 with six homers in 80 games in his second full big league campaign. He hit 20 homers as a rookie in 2010. The 23 year-old LeMahieu made his big league debut in 2011, batting .250 for the Cubs in 37 games.
