Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich may be soaring in the polls, but one vote the former House speaker won’t be getting is that of his half-sister, gay rights activist Candace Gingrich-Jones. Gingrich-Jones, who is herself gay, said on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show Wednesday (December 7th) that she will support President Obama in next year’s election. Gingrich-Jones said that she and her older half-brother were, quote, “mutually respectful,” but disagree on gay rights, stating “He is definitely on the wrong side of history when it comes to those issues.” She also said Gingrich didn’t attend her wedding.
