OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Police have cited an Omaha mother for child neglect after officers twice responded to reports of her 4-year-old son wandering the streets alone.
The Omaha Police Department says officers received a call Saturday reporting a small child roaming near Saddle Creek Road and Cuming Street, but when they arrived, they didn’t see the child. He was later found at a Wal-Mart and identified as Walter Watson, the same boy located alone in the area earlier this month.
Officer Michael Pecha says the boy’s mother, Kaava Watson, called authorities to report her son missing shortly before police had located him. She was cited for four counts of child neglect after officers later discovered unsanitary conditions at her home.
Walter and three other children have since been removed from the residence.
