An arrest has been made in the missing person investigation and homicide of Jesus “Ismenia” Marinero.
On Thursday, May 7, 2015 at approximately 9:10 p.m., Roberto C. Martinez-Marinero, date of birth 4-16-90, walked into the Douglas County Department of Corrections where he advised staff that he was involved in the death of his mother, Ms. Marinero.
Martinez-Marinero was transported to Omaha Police Department Central Police Headquarters where he was interviewed by Homicide Detectives and subsequently booked for 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony for the murder of Ms. Marinero. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed. At this point in the investigation, there are no other suspects being sought by the Omaha Police Department.
Omaha Police Officers continue to work diligently in our attempt to locate 5-year-old Josue Ramirez-Marinero. The Omaha Police Department will use all available resources and personnel in our attempt to find Josue.
Police officials have reason to believe that Josue was thrown into the Elkhorn River at the Highway 275 Bridge west of S. 229th Street. The Omaha Police Department is currently conducting a multi-agency ground, water, and air search of this area.
