Phyllis Arlene Nelsen, age 73 of North Platte, passed away June 13, 2015 at the Cozad Community Hospital. She was born December 8, 1941 at North Platte to Adolph and Marjorie (Price) Wendeborn. Phyllis graduated from Hershey High School in 1961 and on August 7, 1961 she was united in marriage to Darrel M. Nelsen. The couple lived in the communities of Farnam, Ogallala, Elwood, and Imperial following Darrel’s teaching positions. They re-located to North Platte in 1989. She had worked at many jobs before getting into the food service including Cassell’s and Ole’s big game lounge for a number of years. Phyllis had moved to Cozad in 2013. She is survived by her children, Kim (Deb) Nelsen of Cozad, Janet (Scott) Leadabrand of Ogallala, Mark (Linda) Nelsen of Ogallala and Wade (Tracy) Nelsen of Gering Ne, 4 granddaughters: Marcy (Brandon) Ware of Monument, CO Kerri (Ryan) Teter of Omaha, Mandy (Ryan) Meyer of Blue Hill, NE, Kristi (Trever) Dunkin of Hallam, NE 3 grandsons, John (Mary) Leadabrand of Junction City Ks, Stephen Leadabrand of Ogallala, Ne Stuart Leadabrand of Ogallala 3 step grandchildren, April, Kenneth of Ogallala and Reggie of Greeley Co, her brother, Marvin (Dot) Wendeborn, sisters, Alice Robinson and Roxane Martin, brother and sisters-in-laws Ralph Anderson, Dorothy Eubanks, and Shirley Nelsen, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Mary Jane Anderson; a grandson, Steven; and a brother-in-law, Al Robinson. A memorial has been established in her memory. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Private inurnment will be prior to the service at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Cremation was chosen. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9am to 5 pm Tuesday and Wednesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
