LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a 10-year-old girl has been treated for a minor wound after being struck by a bullet while riding her bicycle in Lincoln.
Police say the girl was riding in a west Lincoln neighborhood around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when she heard a loud bang and felt something hit the inside of her right knee. Officer Katie Flood says the girl fell off her bike and then ran home. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released.
Investigators say the small-caliber bullet likely was shot from an open field, which they intended to search for clues.
