Margaret Ann ‘Margie’ Jensen

 

Margaret Ann ‘Margie’ Jensen, of North Platte, NE, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, September 3, 2018.
Margie was born December 7, 1945, to Earl and Martha Louise (Weist) Campbell in North Platte where she grew up.  Margie graduated from high school in 1964 and worked for Campus Cleaners until getting married.

On November 11, 1967, Margie was united in marriage to Dean Lee Jensen at the First United Methodist Church in North Platte. Dean was serving in the US Navy so they moved to Long Beach, CA until returning to North Platte in 1968 where they have lived ever since.  The couple had two daughters and were married for over 50 years.

Margie continued working part-time for the cleaners until 1971 when she became a stay at home mom.  She loved her family very much and was a great wife and mother.  She even took on the duties of hosting family get-togethers, which she enjoyed.

Margie liked knitting and solving crossword puzzles.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post #163 and Weight Watchers.  When the girls were younger she helped at school with the PTA and was an assistant leader with Campfire Girls.  Most importantly, family was Margie’s first priority.

She leaves behind her husband, Dean, of North Platte; daughters, Kristi (Rob) Smith, of Omaha, and Kari Jensen, of North Platte; granddaughters, Kaitlin and Chloe Smith; brothers, Dennis Campbell, of North Platte and Dick Campbell, of Council Bluffs, IA; sister, Marie (Bob) Dugan, of North Platte; sister-in-law, Barbara Campbell, of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Martha Campbell; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Carl Berglund; and brother, Chuck Campbell.

Cremation was chosen.  Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating.  The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial.

Carolyn K. Foust

Carolyn K. Foust, 76, passed away September 3, 2018 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was in the comfort of family and friends right up to her time of death.  Carolyn was a lifetime resident of Maxwell.

She was born on November 1, 1941 to Percy and Marguerite (Miller) Smith.  Carolyn was united in marriage to Michael Foust on November 13, 1957.  They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carolyn worked as a grocery store clerk throughout her lifetime. She was employed at Edith Drake’s Café through her school years, Stuckey’s for three summers, Kittle’s Grocery for four years, David’s Grocery 1975-1977, Maxwell Grocery 1977-1990,  finishing her career working at Sun Mart  and retiring on October 20, 2001.  Carolyn was a member of Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her husband, Michael R. Foust of Maxwell; daughters, Marguerite (Dre) Grandberry of Maxwell and Ginger (Larry) Rivera of North Platte;  son, Richard Foust of Lincoln; her grandchildren, Jamie Reitz, Jodie (Nate) Richardson, David Grandberry, Devin Grandberry, Danae Grandberry, Tayler (Stephanie) Foust and Tanner Foust; her great grandchildren, Avery Reitz, Landon Reitz, Alexa Foust and Eva Foust; her brother, Bob (Linda) Smith and her brother-in-law, Terry (Suzanne) Foust; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her-in-laws, Marion and Hazel Foust.

Marion D. Kellie

Marion D. Kellie, age 83 of North Platte, NE passed away September 2, 2018 at Great Plains Health. He was born December 7, 1934 at North Platte to Chester Louis and Mary Elizabeth (Weekly) Kellie. He attended school in Wellfleet and later worked with his father. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on December 4, 1956 and served on the USCGC Taney and received an honorable discharge on November 30, 1960. While in the service he was united in marriage to Alberta Price on August 13, 1959 at Coquille, OR. Marion was proud of his service to his country and last year revisited the ship he served on and other historic ships in Baltimore.

After his discharge Marion moved to North Platte and was employed by Missouri Valley Construction and later Western Engineering, where he retired.

He is survived by his daughter, Chris (Randy) Edwards; sons, Don Kellie, Dan (Cindy) Kellie; daughter, Cathy “Bug” Kellie; twelve grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Marion was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta “Bert” L. Kellie on June 14, 2017.

Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Melvin Brown officiating. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery with military honors. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his memory. Harold L. Clark

Harold L. Clark, Sr., 76, of North Platte, passed away September 3, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.  He was born September 7, 1941 to James E. and Mable V. (Liptrap) Clark.

Harold attended North Platte Public Schools.  On October 21, 1958, he joined the United States Army.  After his honorable discharge in 1962, he worked at a wrecking yard in Utah.  In 1964, he married Katherine Louise Nelson.  To this union were born three kids.  In 1982, he came to North Platte and began working for Lewis and Sons Construction.  He also worked for the city parks administration, the North Platte Public Schools, and the Flying J, in 2001 he retired.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge.  He loved hunting and especially loved fishing and his dogs, Mouse and Freddy, multiple “Rat Dogs” and his son’s bearded dragon “Rocky”.  He was opinionated, ornery, stubborn, but a good loving heart.  He loved his family very much.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Elliott and Pam Thiem; a son, Harold Clark, Jr.; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, David (Bev) Clark and Charles (Arlene) Clark; a sister, Betty Barnett; several nieces, nephews and other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Evelyn Massey, Helen Hopkins and Mary Ellen Lavine; three other infant sibblings; and one granddaughter, Haylee Clark.

Robin Mora Notice

Robin Mora, age 36, of North Platte, died August 31, 2018 in Colorado.  Services will be 11:00am Saturday September 11, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  The casket will be closed at the church.  Those wanting to sign the register book may do so Friday from 9-5 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Beryl E. Frosh

Beryl E. Frosh, 86, of Stapleton, passed away August 31, 2018, at Great Plains Health, with his family by his side.

He was born on January 25, 1932, to Fred and Lenore (Dewitt) Frosh in on a farm in rural Northeast Lincoln County in Nebraska. Beryl enlisted in the Army in 1952, serving in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. During his service he received the bronze star. Beryl attended Trade School in Kansas City, Missouri after being discharged from the Army.

Beryl married the love of his life, Gayle June Henry, on November 28, 1954 in the Garfield Church. They farmed in the Lexington area for 7 years before moving to the Arnold and Stapleton area in 1962 where Beryl farmed for 60 years. He was also employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the United Methodist Church in Arnold. Beryl loved the farming life, helping whenever he was needed in the farming community. He always enjoyed having his family and neighbors around and was loved by all.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, Fred and Lenore Frosh; his parents in law, Frank and Dorothy Henry; brothers, George and Lloyd Frosh; sisters, Lucille Lucerno and Marjorie (Dan) Grafton; brother in laws, Bob and Jim Henry; grandson, Justin Frosh.

Beryl is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gayle Henry Frosh; son, Frank (Keri) Frosh; daughter, Lori (Steve) Keifer; grandchildren, Jessica (Robert Schuster) Bartles, Christopher (Patrice) Keifer, Candi (Chris) Wickwire, Tyler Frosh and Korbin Frosh; great grandchildren, Trey, Peyton, Maddie, Brenna, Andrew, Kayia, CJ and Chloe; brother, Ray Frosh; sisters, Louella (Curt) Connolly of Spokane, WA, Lois Clevenger of Salem, Oregon, Ruth (Larry) Ross of Arnold, Betty Johnson of Arnold; sisters in law, Judy (Don) Christofferson of Stapleton, Cathy Henry of North Platte, Diana Henry of North Platte, Kathy Frosh of California. Many very special nieces, nephews,cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made in Beryl’s name to the Stapleton or Arnold Fire Rescue Teams and the Arnold United Methodist Church.

John Thomas Rhoden

John Thomas Rhoden, of North Platte, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the age of 74.

John was born November 3, 1943, in Fairbury, NE, to Catherine (Black) and James C. Rhoden, Sr.  They moved to North Platte in 1948 when his parents divorced and here John attended North Platte Public Schools.

On December 28, 1961, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy thus starting a career which took him around the world.  John made four tours of Vietnam in less than three years, serving as a crewman in rescue helicopters, and served on every aircraft carrier in the Pacific including the USS Yorktown, USS Kearsarge and twice on the USS Ranger.  He served at Naval Air Stations: Mirmar, San Diego, CA, Memphis-Millenton, TN; Imperial Beach, CA; Point Mugu, Oxnard, CA; Rio Grande, Albuquerque, NM.  He was also stationed at Pacific Missile Range Barking Sands in Kauai, Hawaii.

On March 18, 1962, John married the love of his life, Carolyn K. Chamerlain, in North Platte.  The couple had two children, Chawna Rene and John W., and were married for 56 years.  They lived a military life and the family followed John to the different bases as he was reassigned.

Over the years he was awarded four each of the Good Conduct Medals, Armed Forces Expeditional Medals and Vietnam Service Medals.  He also received the Navy Commendation Medal, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal. After a distinguished 20 year career John retired in June 1981.

Following retirement, John and Carolyn returned to North Platte.  With the help of family and friends they built one of the first earth sheltered houses in the area and that became their final home.  John attended Mid-Plains Community College and was employed at several places including Troyer Enterprises, Sutherland Power Plant, T & L Irrigation and the Union Pacific Railroad until his health required him to retire again.

John had a love of restoring old trucks and cars.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.  He will be greatly missed.

Those left to mourn him are his loving wife, Carolyn, their children, Chawna Treat and John W. Rhoden, son-in-law, Orlan Treat and grandson, Dominic Hinojosu, all of North Platte; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Kenneth) Jones, of Lexington and Fae Rhoden, of Sun Tan Valley, AZ; stepbrothers, John (Judy) Mullins and Gary (Lynn) Mullins, all of Littleton, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Jim, Sr. and Lelia Rhoden; mother and stepfather, Catherine and Carroll Johnson; brothers, Jim and Frank Rhoden; grandsons, Daniel and Tyler Treat; stepsisters, Beverly and Katie Mullins; stepbrother, Bill Mullins; and in-laws, Milton and Ruth Chamberlain.

Cremation was chosen.  Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018,  at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Chaplain Gary Smith officiating.  Inurnment with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.  The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Callahan Cancer Center.

Byron Dee Fox

Byron Dee Fox, age 62 of Stapleton passed away Wednesday August 29, 2018 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha from complications of thyroid cancer surgery.

Byron was born February 25, 1956 in North Platte to Ben and Mary Ann (Kramer) Fox of Arnold.  He was raised on the family farm west of Arnold and graduated from Arnold Public School in 1974.  He went on to attend college at Mid Plains Voc Tech and graduated with a degree in diesel and auto mechanics.  He put his degree to use as a mechanic working on the family farm, for neighbors, and Cornhusker International Truck Center for many years until he was sidelined with kidney issues.  Still active after 3 kidney transplants, he was driving semi, hauling grain across the state of Nebraska and into Colorado.  Byron loved cooking for the family fish fry birthday party; he had made his own recipe for coating the fish and loved watching family and friends enjoy his cooking.  He loved fishing, hunting and golfing with his family.  He also enjoyed going to Merritt Reservoir every year over Labor Day weekend to relax, camp, catch fish and spend quality time with his brothers, sister, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and friends.  He helped every year with the SORC Race at Arnold as a spotter and was a volunteer firefighter for the Stapleton Fire Department for 30+ years.  He loved to garden, he had quite the green thumb and enjoyed sharing his bounty with friends, family and neighbors.  Driving the semi and doing mechanic maintenance on it kept him motivated.  Even on days when he was not feeling his best with his kidney issues he was always there when anyone needed a helping hand.  He will be greatly missed.

Byron is survived by his parents Ben and Mary Ann Fox of Arnold; 3 sons Jeffeory (Jennifer) Fox, Levi (Kristen) Fox, Jason (Lauri Ray) Fox all of Massachusetts; grandchildren Griffin Fox, Ella Mae Fox, Shane Fox and Lorilei Fox all of Massachusetts; 3 brothers James Fox of Stapleton, Marvin (Nancy) Fox of Arnold, Kevin (Heather) Fox of North Platte; 2 sisters Karen (James) Main of Stapleton, and Kathy Fox of North Platte; nephews Randy (Jody) Fox of New Jersey, John Main and Kurtis Main of Stapleton, and Joseph Fox of North Platte; nieces Kristin (Ron Hanson) Fox of Wyoming, Jamie (Sam) Ascherl of McCook, and Kellie (Lane Vasa) Main of Stapleton; great nephew Wade Ascherl of McCook, and great niece Scarlett Ascherl of McCook; as well as other extended family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his younger brother Roger Lee Fox on April 10, 2018; infant nieces Ashley and Payten Fox; and grandparents Edward and Clara (Helmkamp) Fox and Frank and Ethel (Gill) Kramer.

Beverly Dybdahl

Beverly Lee Dybdahl, age 84, passed away Thursday August 30, 2018 at Sutherland Care Center.  Bev was born March 26, 1934 in Sutherland, NE to Howard Evan and Agnes Ellen (Spitznogle) Winkle.  She grew up in the area and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1951.  She married Alfred “Tuff” combs and to their union Patricia, Karen, Connie and Nancy were born.  The couple lived and ranched in the Sutherland area.  She later married Willian Martin Dybdahl and the had William “Billy” Jr., and James.  Bill had a case of wanderlust and the couple lived and worked in many different places such as Lexington, NE, Texas and Arizona.  The stayed longest in Winkleman, AZ where Bill died in 2002.  After his death, Bev returned to Suteherland to live at Sandy Acres.  She took on hte job of delivering newspapers to other residents at 5:00 each morning.  She also liked to read, watch Dancing With The Stars, playing a daily card game with her daugheter and son-in-law, and her dog Taffy.

Beverly is survived by her children Patricia (James) Holmstedt of Sutherland, Connie Trimble of Prescott Valley, AZ, Nancy Burns of Gulfport, MS William “Billy” (Pam) Dybdahl Jr. of Safford, AZ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren’ as well as other extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Adnes Winkle; husband William; daughter Karen Combs; son James Dybdahl; sister LaVonne Lavalle; and infant brothers Russell and Roger.  Memorials are suggested to the Sutherland Library and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.  Cremation was chosen and private family inurnment will be held at a later date.  Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
