She organized and ran a young girl’s dance and drill team, The Trojanettes. For 5 years they performed around the Cambridge area and across the state. She was very proud of the accomplishments of these young girls. In North Platte, she was proud to have built and marketed the butterfly product called “Flutterbies.” These were sold on QVC and she was able to introduce them on a live QVC broadcast out of Omaha, NE. She served and was active in the North Platte Original Town Organization and was instrumental in helping with the creation of the Rail Fest Celebration. She was always a helpmate to her husband and over the 53 years that they shared together, they enjoyed many common interests in music, dancing, movies, garage sales, and auctions. She loved her family and so enjoyed spending time with her great grandsons. She leaves behind many friends and acquaintances that will miss her bright smile and positive, uplifting presence. Colorado man accused of shooting his wife in the head at Lake McConaughy

A Colorado man is in the Keith County jail on assault charges after he allegedly shot his wife at Lake McConaughy.
According to the Keith County Attorney’s Office, the Nebraska State Patrol responded to a shooting at the Martin Bay Area, on the northeast side of the lake, just after midnight on August 7.
Troopers investigated and learned that, during a disturbance, Sean K. Long, of Aurora, Colorado, had shot his wife in the head.
Keith County Attorney Randy Fair said in a news release that Long’s wife was life-flighted to a Colorado hospital. She is expected to survive her injuries.
The release says the County Attorney’s Office will review the reports and additional charges may be filed if warranted.

At this time, Long is being charged with felony first-degree assault and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
Authorities released few details about the incident. More information is expected to be released later this week.
The Keith County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Ogallala Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol were all involved in the investigation.

Report: Nebraska faces workforce, housing challenges
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A recent report says Nebraska suffers from a shortage of workers in science, technology, and building trades and still has work to do to attract startup companies.
The report was presented to business leaders last month during Gov. Pete Ricketts’ first economic development summit in Lincoln. A spokesman for Ricketts said the report will help shape the governor’s efforts to attract new businesses.
The report praises Nebraska’s economy for its continued growth and low unemployment, but notes that the state is struggling to fill jobs. The state’s wages are also below the national average, and many residents compensate by working more than one job.
According to the report, Nebraska also faces a housing shortage that makes it harder to recruit doctors, teachers and other professionals.
Disney builds stone wall at lake where alligator killed boy
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Workers are building a stone wall around a Walt Disney World lake where an alligator killed a toddler earlier this summer.
Disney officials say the barrier wall is part of the new security plan following the death of 2-year-old Lane Graves of Omaha, Nebraska. The boulder wall is going up along the beaches of the Seven Seas Lagoon where several resorts are located.
Disney also put up warning signs and ropes after Graves was dragged by an alligator into the lake on June 14. The boy’s body was found 16 hours later and an autopsy showed he died from drowning and traumatic injuries.
The family decided not to file a lawsuit against Disney.
