(UPDATE) Anhydrous Leak At Logan County Co-op

The anhydrous leak at the Logan County Co-op, four miles south of Stapleton, along highway 83 has been stopped. The public is asked to avoid the immediate area around the co-op until emergency crews have completed their work and decide the area is safe for travel. Highway 83 had been closed from mile marker 106 to mile marker 110 while the leak was being fixed.

A significant heat wave will develop over much of the central portion of the country into next week as a large and strong subtropical high entrenches itself over the central U.S. This significant heat wave will also affect much of western and central Nebraska.  Temperatures are expected to rise well into the 90’s with some locations exceeding 100 by Tuesday.  Combined with high dew point temperatures across central and southern Nebraska, heat index values will soar above 100 degrees.

The Eagle Radio News Team at the scene of a two vehicle accident at the corner of B and Dewey Streets.  The accident occurred Friday around noon.  Members of the North Platte Police Department and North Platte Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.  Further details not available at this time.

Downtown looking for vision

A Downtown Corridor Task Force has been devised to create a comprehensive vision for the North Platte downtown area.  Mayor Marc Kaschke and downtown businessman Alan Hirschfeld announced the group’s formation yesterday which includes twelve individuals who face a number of issues to tackle by a target date of January 31st, 2012.  The Task Force will seek solutions to such dilemmas as downtown parking access, infrastructure improvements, signage and visibility, as well as seeking available grants.
