plane-crashROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A prominent real estate developer and his wife were aboard the plane that strayed out of control and crashed off the coast of Jamaica.

Rick Glazer says Friday that his parents, Larry and Jane Glazer, were both licensed pilots. He says he can’t confirm they were killed, saying, “we know so little.”

Larry Glazer ran the development firm Buckingham Properties. He also owned the high performance single-engine turboprop Socata TBM700 he was flying from Rochester to Florida when contact was lost with the plane after 10 a.m.

Two F-15 fighters trailed the plane before it apparently ran out of fuel and crashed just after 2 p.m.

Girl, 5, Trapped Inside Running Washing Machine

police-lights-redPASADENA, Texas (AP) — Police say a 5-year-old Texas girl has been hospitalized after she was trapped inside a running washing machine.

Pasadena police say the child “was tumbling pretty fast” for several minutes Tuesday before a customer noticed at Le’s Washateria laundromat.

The laundromat owner says an employee used circuit breakers to stop the machine.

It’s unclear who was watching the child. Police are investigating.

32 Teens Escape from Tenn. Detention Center, 9 Still on the Lam

Tennessee-Highway-PatrolNASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Officials say 32 teens escaped from a Nashville youth detention center by crawling under a fence late Monday, and 9 of them were still on the run Tuesday.

Department of Children’s Services spokesman Rob Johnson says the teens — ages 14 to 19 — left their rooms and went into a common area, where they overwhelmed 16 to 18 staff members and kicked out a metal panel under a window to get out of the building and into a yard. Once in the yard, the teens realized they could lift part of the fence surrounding it and get out.

Two teens were captured immediately and others were found overnight. Local police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were still searching for 10 from the group Tuesday morning.

Johnson says the state-owned center in northwest Nashville held 78 teens at the time of the escape, and most had committed at least three felonies.
