Police: Pennsylvania Man Fathered 4 Children with Relative

pennsylvania-state-police(AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a man fathered four children with a relative whom he repeatedly raped and assaulted over more than 20 years.

State police arrested the 55-year-old Butler County man on Saturday. He is charged with dozens of counts of rape, indecent assault and incest.

The offenses allegedly occurred from 1992 until August of this year in various locations in Butler County and neighboring Allegheny County, where Pittsburgh is located.

The Associated Press is not naming the suspect to avoid identifying his relative. The AP generally does not identify victims of sexual assault.

The man, who is from Chicora, was being held at the county prison on $500,000 bail. It was not clear whether he had an attorney.

Police could not immediately provide more details on the case.

Convicted Neb. Sex Abuser Again Gets Probation

sex-offenders(AP) — A Grand Island woman convicted of having sex with her stepson and then violating her probation by living with him has again been given probation.

The 28-year-old woman was re-sentenced Thursday by Hall County District Judge William Wright to five years’ probation.

That’s the same sentence she got in May after pleading no contest to sexual assaulting her 15-year-old stepson. As part of the probation, she was ordered to have no contact with her stepson or with any child under age 18 without her probation officer’s approval.

But two weeks later, court documents say, sheriff’s deputies found her living in a home with her stepson and two other young children.

The Associated Press is not naming the woman to protect her stepson’s identity.

Lincoln Mother Gets 180 Days in Child Abuse Case

child-abuse(AP) — Authorities say a Lincoln woman who would leave a room so she couldn’t hear her 2-year-old scream while being punished has been jailed.

Online court records say 23-year-old Barbara Laver on Thursday was sentenced to 180 days. She’d made a deal with prosecutors and pleaded no contest to attempted negligent child abuse.

State workers had found bruises and scratches on Laver’s 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son in January. Her live-in boyfriend, 28-year-old Patrick Austin, was later charged with felony child abuse and has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say she tried to protect Austin by lying about what happened to her daughter.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
