Wy. Girl Lured Into SUV To Help Find Lost Puppy

The FBI says authorities have arrested a man in connection with the kidnapping of a Wyoming girl.

The agency says in a statement Sunday evening that the man was arrested in Belgrade, Mont. The man’s identity and details of the arrest were not released.

Police say a man lured the 11-year-old girl from the town of Cody into his SUV last Monday by claiming he needed help finding a missing puppy. A group of hunters found the girl outside the town several hours later.

Officials will hold a news conference Monday morning in Cody to discuss the case.

Two Officers Dragged By Car Trying To Flee. One Officer Held On For 10 Blocks

Authorities say two officers have been treated at a hospital after being dragged by a car in Lincoln.

Police say the officers pulled over a car early Sunday morning. The officers say the car driver didn’t properly identify himself, so the officers tried to take him out of the car. That’s when the driver punched the accelerator and took off with the officers hanging on.

One officer let go after about 30 feet, but the other didn’t let go for about 10 blocks.

Both officers were taken to a hospital for treatment and have been released.

No arrest has been reported, but police say investigators have a suspect.

Fidelity Investments Is Dropping $200 Million On A Data Center In Nebraska

Fidelity Investments says it has decided to build a $200 million data center in the Omaha suburb of Papillion.

In an announcement Friday, Fidelity’s Steve Scullen says the company “is pleased to be in Nebraska.” Scullen is Fidelity’s president of corporate operations.

He says the Papillion site will provide “the flexibility to build to our specifications in a location that will accommodate our needs now and in the future.”

The company cited the state’s low power rates and central U.S. location as key factors in its decision, as well as the array of financial incentives, including the data center provision contained in the recently amended Nebraska Advantage Act.

Fidelity says it expects to begin construction immediately and have the center running in 2014, employing 30 to 35 people.

Supreme Court Rejects 2nd Appeal Of A Convicted Killer

The Nebraska Supreme Court has rejected a convicted killer’s second appeal, saying the man did not prove that a judge acted vindictively in sentencing him to up to 50 years for a weapons count.

Daniel Miller was convicted in the 2008 shooting death of 18-year-old Julius Robinson outside a southwest Omaha apartment complex.

Miller was originally sentenced to life without parole for first-degree murder and another 10 years for a weapons count, but the Nebraska Supreme Court ordered a new trial last year.

Miller subsequently pleaded guilty reduced charges and was sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter and 30 to 50 years on a weapons count.

In his latest appeal, Miller said the harsher sentence for the weapons count was imposed vindictively because of Miller’s success in his first appeal.

20 Year Old Tried To Help Teenager Sell Meth

A Lincoln woman is going to prison for helping a 13-year-old boy sell methamphetamine.

The Lincoln Journal Star says a Lancaster County District judge on Friday sentenced 20-year-old Tasha Ryan to four to eight years in prison for her role in a sale to an undercover officer.

Ryan was arrested last fall after a drug task force began investigating reports about the boy selling drugs. She pleaded no contest to attempted aiding and abetting delivery of methamphetamine and to possession of Lorazepam, a controlled substance.

Man Sentenced In Omaha Auto Shop Shooting In 2010

The Nebraska Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of an Omaha man convicted of first-degree murder in a 2010 shooting at a south Omaha auto shop.

Robert Nave was sentenced to life in prison for the death of 36-year-old Cesar Sanchez, as well as an additional 75 years for conspiracy and weapons convictions.

Nave appealed, arguing among other things that the prosecutor improperly removed a prospective juror from the jury pool because of the juror’s race, and that police failed to properly advise him of his Miranda rights.

On Friday, the state’s high court rejected Nave’s arguments, saying the striking of the juror was not based on race and that police made clear in their Miranda warnings that Nave was entitled to an appointed lawyer before he was questioned.

Authorities have released the name of a 66-year-old man who died in a fire at his rural home in south-central Nebraska.

The office of Harlan County Attorney Bryan McQuay identified the victim as Edward Holste.

Firefighters were sent to battle a blaze at Holste’s home outside Oxford a little before 7 a.m. on Monday.

Authorities believe Holste died of smoke inhalation. The fire cause is being investigated, but authorities don’t believe it was a result of a crime.

Man Accused Of Beating Woman For Months

A 27-year-old southeast Nebraska man has been accused of beating a woman nearly every day for four months.

Lincoln police spokeswoman Katie Flood says Matthew Oday, of Firth, was arrested Wednesday morning in Lincoln.

Officers had been looking for him since Friday, after an incident at a Lincoln grocery store. Flood says Oday had left the store, but officers spoke with a woman who had been with him. Flood says the woman had bruises on her body, her wrists and ankles were swollen, and patches of her hair were missing.

Flood says the injuries were “consistent with almost daily abuse over the last four months.”

A Lancaster County jailer said Oday remained in custody on Friday, pending $50,000 bail. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.

WATCH: VP Debate Final Statements After 90 Minuets Of Fast And Feisty

Vice President Joe Biden and Republican Paul Ryan have squabbled over the economy, taxes, Medicare and foreign policy in their one and only debate.

The 90-minute face-off was fast-moving and feisty from the start and marked by sharp disagreements and interruptions.

After Ryan attacked the administration’s foreign policy as being weak, the vice president called the assessment “a bunch of malarkey.” About the interruptions, Ryan said Biden was “under a lot of duress to make up for lost ground.” That was reference to last week’s presidential debate in which even President Barack Obama concedes he had “a bad night.”

Unlike that debate, Biden brought up the video in which Romney had said 47 percent of Americans pay no federal income tax, view themselves as victims and do not take responsibility for their own lives.

The event was held at Kentucky’s Centre College and moderated by ABC’s Martha Raddatz.

Davis was pronounced at the scene.
