OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Warren Buffett’s old 2006 Cadillac is going to be auctioned off to raise money for one of his favorite charities now that the billionaire finally upgraded his car to a newer model.

Buffett’s old DTS sedan will go up for sale online at www. proxibid.com starting Wednesday. The auction will run through Feb. 19.

The 2006 Cadillac has only 20,310 as Buffett enjoys a short commute to work at Berkshire Hathaway’s headquarters in Omaha. Based on past auctions involving Buffett, the car will draw much more than its Kelly Blue Book value of between $10,000 and $11,600.

The last time Buffett’s car was auctioned off, his 2001 Lincoln drew $73,200 — well above its book value of $11,200.

All proceeds will go to the nonprofit Girls Inc. of Omaha.

Plan Would Turn Lincoln’s Old Auditorium Into Marketplace

pershing-auditoriumLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Under a plan still in the draft stage, the Lincoln’s old Pershing auditorium would be given new life as a modern food market with space for restaurants, a greenhouse and loft apartments.

The plan was given to a mayoral committee last week. The city also is considering tearing down the auditorium, which closed in August after more than 57 years of operation. This week the city has opened up the building to people who want to buy pieces of the Pershing at auction.

The plan calls for renovating the auditorium and creating an administrative structure for a regional food hub to connect ag producers, consumers and distributors. The plan is being proposed by the Joslyn Institute for Sustainable Communities.

Lottery: No Winner in $380 Million Powerball Drawing

powerballDES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Lottery officials say no jackpot winner was selected in the latest $380 million Powerball drawing.

The next drawing will be Wednesday after no one matched Saturday’s winning numbers.

Sue Dooley is the senior drawing manager for the Multi-State Lottery Association, which oversees Powerball. She says the estimated value of Wednesday’s drawing will be $450 million.

The huge jackpot is a return to form for Powerball, which has been known along with Mega Millions for its record-breaking jackpots in recent years. But the Powerball lottery has experienced a slump, with nearly a year passing since its jackpot total climbed above $300 million.

Powerball’s last major jackpot was in February 2014, when it climbed to $425 million.

Powerball tickets cost $2 each.

‘SpongeBob’ Unseats ‘Sniper’ at Weekend Box Office

box-officeNEW YORK (AP) — “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” finally unseated Clint Eastwood’s runaway hit “American Sniper” at the weekend box office, while a pair of high-priced fantasies flopped.

According to estimates Sunday, Paramount Pictures’ “SpongeBob Movie” earned $56 million, a huge debut for the animated Nickelodeon big-screen transfer. That finally pushed “American Sniper” off the top spot after a three-week reign. The Navy SEAL drama took in $24.2 million in its fourth week of wide release.

But the Wachowskis’ science-fiction adventure “Jupiter Ascending” opened with just $19 million, a meager amount for a $175 million production. Warner Bros. delayed the movie’s release from last summer.

Universal’s “Seventh Son,” a supernatural thriller set in medieval times, debuted with a scant $7.1 million despite costing nearly $100 million to make.
