Lois Ann Buchholz, 83, of Sutherland, passed away August 7, 2017. Dennis Stephen Little
Dennis Stephen Little, age 67 of North Platte, passed away Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Great Plains Health.
Dennis was born on May 14, 1950 in North Platte to Benjamin and Mable (Lindemuth) Little. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1968. He married Susan Grimes on December 29, 1968 in North Platte and the couple lived in Ogallala for a time before moving back to North Platte where he started on the Union Pacific Railroad on April 1, 1969 as a Carman. He ended his career as a Car Foreman in the Car Department, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and was an avid bowler, being on a league team for many years. Dennis loved his family and will be dearly missed.
Dennis is survived by his wife Susan of North Platte; children Stephen (fiancé Julie McClenahan) Little of Omaha, and Tracie (Todd) Barkley of North Platte; 8 grandchildren Elace (Anthony) Pontiero, Erica Little, Devin Hicks, Amanda (Clayton) Weems, Aaron Barkley, Kayla Barkley, Jennifer Barkley, and Jillian McClenahan; 7 great grandchildren Cecilia Pontiero, Malaya Madlock, Mariella Madlock, Baily Weems, Coye Weems, Kenzie Barkley, Karlee Barkley; siblings Jerry (Georgia) Little, Thelma Gilbert, Sylvia Barnett, Joe Little all of North Platte, and Byron Little of Lincoln; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends..
He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Mable Little; parents-in-law Alfred and Devona Grimes; daughter-in-law Marla Little; and siblings John “Bud” “Boots” Little, Linda Hawkins, and Roy Little.

Wyatt Dale Paulsen
Wyatt Dale Paulsen, of North Platte, infant son of Phillip and Sarah (Douglas) Paulsen was born and passed on August 5, 2017 at Great Plains Health. Cremation was chosen, private family inurnment will take place at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. There will be a memorial service at noon on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Douglas Delp officiating. Bradley Dean Herrick
Bradley Dean Herrick, of North Platte, NE, died at Great Plains Health on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at the age of 45.
Brad was born June 3, 1972, to Jerry Norman and Lorraine Pearl (Hinton) Herrick in McCook, NE. He grew up in Wellfleet, NE, and graduated from Maywood High School in 1990. Brad then earned his Associate’s Degree from Mid-Plains Community College.
He enjoyed carpentry work and did building construction and remodeling. Brad had started Precision Interior and was employed by Steve Ramm, Schultz Construction and most recently, Creative Interiors.
Brad was married to Amy Younghans and they had a daughter, Skylar, then later divorced. On April 29, 2017, Brad was united in marriage to Ann Margaret Johnson in Ord, NE, and they made their home in North Platte.
When he wasn’t working, Brad enjoyed fishing, but always caught a tree. He also like grilling and cooking as well as spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife, Ann, of North Platte; daughter, Skylar Herrick, and her mother, Amy Herrick, of North Platte; son, Brandon (Brook) Richardson, of Maywood, NE; stepson, Caden Johnson, of Ord, NE; his father, Jerry Herrick, of Curtis, NE; mother, Lorraine Herrick (Craig Redfield) of Imperial, NE; brother, Justin (Nathlie) Herrick, and grandmother, Donna Swanson, all of North Platte; two grandsons, Conner and Mason Richardson; niece, Rylee; nephews, Jaydn, Jedidiah and Josiah; his many friends, including Scott Seamann and Pat Mackley; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins other family.
Brad was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Casual dress is requested. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Skylar’s education.
Norma Beryl (Staples) Gale
Norma Beryl (Staples) Gale, 96, departed for her heavenly home Aug. 6, 2017, at Centennial Park Retirement Village.
Norma was born on Oct. 27, 1920, in North Platte to Arthur and Bernice (Pursel) Staples.
She married Kenneth Gale on Nov. 24, 1935, in Julesburg, Colorado. Norma worked several years as a nurse’s aide and as an aide for the North Platte school district.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and served as a board member and mission council member. She taught Sunday school for many years.
Norma’s children and grandchildren were a very important part of her life and she greatly influenced each of them. They all counted greatly on Grandma’s prayers for them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Wallace; and three sisters, Doris Motsinger, Geraldine Gilbert and Elsie Jacoby.
Survivors include her children, Patricia (Fay) Hoban of North Platte, William (Carolyn) Gale of Nixa, Missouri, Darrel (Sandy) Gale of North Platte, Kenneth (Susan) Gale of York, and Rodney (Cheryl) Gale of Palm Desert, California; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Clarice Rule of Chicago, Keith (Jane) Staples of Pocatello, Idaho, Jean Smith of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Betty (Bill) Denton of Lompoc, California, Joan Eddins of North Platte, Judy (Mike) Grassmeyer of Kearney, Jack (Carolyn) Staples of Portland, Oregon, Karen (Ted) Miller of Oshkosh and Barbara (Glen) Johansen of North Platte; and numerous relatives and friends.

Wayne Hampton
Wayne Hampton, 90, died on July 31, 2017, at North Platte Care Facility.
Wayne Hampton was born on July 26, 1926, to Glee and Erma (Boyer) Hampton in Mullen. He was the oldest of seven children. Wayne attended the Reigle School north of Mullen until his parents moved to Missouri in 1935. Wayne came back to Mullen when he was 15 years old and lived with his grandmother, Mary Enis (James) Boyer. He attended school in Mullen until the 11th grade. He then finished his last year of high school in Missouri.
Wayne was united in marriage to Betty Milander on Dec. 21, 1948. To this union two boys were born, Don (Teresa) and Dale (Freda).
Wayne worked in construction for 20 years. While he was in construction, he became the head master mechanic for Peter Kiewit. This was a tremendous honor, since he trained himself.
After construction, Wayne and Betty moved back to Mullen to work for his father-in-law, Glenn Milander, at Milander Motors. In 1976, Wayne and Betty purchased the Gibson Agency, later named the Hampton Agency. Wayne was a licensed agent and broker until they sold it in 1996.
Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, Glee and Erma (Boyer) Hampton; two sisters, Erma Jean Conley and Leta Mae Fisher; three brothers, Stanley, Orvel and Norman; three brothers-in-law, David Snider, Jim Fisher and Harley Ashlock; two sisters-in-law, Lois (Gorsuch) Hampton and Lometa Hampton; nephew, Richard Hampton; niece, Dixie Hampton; and daughter-in-law, Freda (Maire) Hampton.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Don (Teresa) and Dale; grandchildren, Mindy (Andy) Wright and their children Ashton, Ella, Owen and Alivia, Travis (Jessica) Hampton and their children Cayden and Adalena (Ady), Deon (Jennifer) Hampton and their children Jensyn and Delcey, Dana (Brad) Forsberg and their children Zayne and Grady, Wendy (Cameron) Bain and their children Michelle Hunt and Staylor Bain, Denise (Kyle) Hoyt and their children Gracie, Isabell (Izzy) and Sadie, Brenda Hampton and Katie Yokley; sister, Luceil Ashlock of Missouri; sister-in-law, Sherry Hampton of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to the Mullen Assembly of God Church or Cedarview Cemetery in Mullen.
Services were on Monday, Aug. 7, at the Assembly of God Church in Mullen. Burial was at Cedarview Cemetery. Mullen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Doris J. Swanson
Doris J. Swanson, 73, of North Platte, passed away August 4, 2017 at Great Plains Health.
Doris was born to Vernon and Sophia (Morrison) Joy on August 13, 1943 on the Morrison farm near Arnold, Nebraska. She graduated from Arnold High School with the Class of 1961. Following graduation she went to Grand Island to be a bookkeeper. A friend introduced her to the love of her life, Dean Swanson. They loved to dance to polka music, “the faster the better,” she always said. They got married September 5, 1964 in Arnold, Nebraska and then moved to Omaha. A year later they had a daughter, Charlene. In 1968, they moved to North Platte for Dean to work. In January 1970, Karen was born. Her girls were very important to her when Dean worked overtime. She did a lot of different things. She was on a women league of bowling in the mornings. Friday nights she was on a mix league with her husband. Then she started playing bingo and Dean would call so they were always together. Her other hobby was watching her grandson, Keith, play soccer, baseball and racing go-karts. She always like having family around the house during holidays. She and her husband enjoyed going gambling on their birthdays and anniversaries.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Morris Joy; her mother-in-law, Sophia Swanson and father-in-law Ed Swanson.
Doris will be deeply missed by her devoted and loving husband of 52 years, Dean Swanson; daughters, Charlene (Alan) Burnside of Stapleton and Karen (Keith) Faler of North Platte; grandchildren, Priscilla (Greg) Vega, Dean Burnside and Keith Faler, lovingly referred to as “Shorty” by grandma; great granddaughter, Avery Vega; brothers, Cal Joy of Arnold and Larry (Gloria)Joy of York.; sister, Carol Wing of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Eleanor Belke of Doniphan and nieces and nephews.

Jason D. Roth
Jason D. Roth, 37, of North Platte, passed away August 1, 2017. He was born on October 30, 1979 to Mark and Janice (Anderson) Roth in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jason graduated from Maywood High School with the class of 1998. He joined the U.S. Army and after his discharge he returned to North Platte. Jason enjoyed spending time fishing.
He is survived by his parents; brothers, Christopher (Kerry) Roth, Michael (Terra) Roth, and his twin brother Jeromy (Angela) Roth; also nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior. Burial will be at the North Platte Cemetery. Casket will be closed. Arthur “Rex” Howard
Arthur “Rex” Howard, age 94 of North Platte, formerly of Gering, passed away Sunday July 30, 2017 at Linden Court.
Rex was born August 25, 1922 in Melbeta, NE to George O. and Stella P. (Keister) Howard. He graduated from Melbeta High School and attended the University of Nebraska where he met the love of his life, Mary “Jean” Humphrey. Rex and Jean were married on February 12, 1943 in Minatare, NE. They farmed in Gering Valley where they raised two children, Rex Humphrey and Linda Jean. Rex farmed, but his real passion was the cattle he fed. For fun, he and Jean spent many days at their cabin at Laramie Peak where he loved to fly fish on the Laramie River. They also enjoyed dancing at the Elks Club, Nebraska football, card club, and watching their grandkids grow up. In his retirement years he especially enjoyed wood carving.
Rex is survived by his children, Rex H. (Nancy) Howard of Richardson, TX, and Linda (Marvin) Rousey of North Platte; sister Mary Finney of Muskatine, IA; grandchildren, Kevin (Suzanne) Howard of Fort Worth, TX, Camille (Scott) Hughes of Richardson, TX, Scott (Sarah) Howard of Waukesha, WI, Pam (Jess) Helgoth of Burwell, Kim (Scott) Goodwin of Kilgore, and Jodi (John) Miller of North Platte; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Estella Howard; wife Mary Jean in 2016; and one brother and one sister.
