Carol Ann Walther

 

Carol Ann Walther, 69, of North Platte, passed away July 22, 2017 at Centennial Park Retirement Village.

She was born November 1, 1947 to G. Vernon and G. Alice (Brush) Halley at Stockville, NE.  She graduated from UNSA High School in Curtis with the class of “66”.  Carol was employed by NCTA in Curtis for over 12 years, retiring in 2009.

She is survived by her children, Steve (Darla) Walther of Stockville, Clint (Kerri) Walther of North Platte and Julie (Brian) Brownell of Burwell; grandchildren, Cameron (Arlana Whitson) Walther, Caitlyn (Udell Hughes) Walther, Cole (Shelby) Walther, Jordan and Jace Walther, Cory and Kelli Brownell, Kaden and Akilah Ross; great grandson, Udell Thomas Hughes; her brother, George (Janice) Halley of North Platte; her sisters, Evelyn Hilker of McCook and Doris Chambers of Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Howard Chambers.  Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Hospital or to the Donor’s choice.  Cremation was chosen. Arlene L. Chamberlain

Arlene L. Chamberlain, age 90, of North Platte passed away July 15, 2017 at Great Plains Health.  She was born on March 29, 1927 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Robert L. and Laura A. (Frew) Heinzle.  Arlene graduated from North Platte High School.  She worked as Woolworth’s, Pawnee Hotel, Schweser’s Opportunity Center, and Sands Motor Inn.  She was married to Leo E. Chamberlain on December 23, 1966.  Leo passed away November 28, 1978.

Arlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  She was an avid bowler and dancer.  Arlene was also a member of Legion Auxiliary 153, Eagles 2938, and Moose Lodge Auxiliary 638.  She also enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Wheelock of North Platte; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Meseraull and family of North Platte, and Kathy (Pepper) Dotson of North Platte; step-daughter-in-law, Penny Ferrin and family of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Kamie Jo (Aaron) Stephen, Laurie Ann (Chris) Ruff, Robin (Russell) Eitzen all of North Platte and Vickie Lynn (Dana) Baker of Anchorage, AK; step-granddaughters, Carrie Mercer, and Michelle Greathouse; 9 great-grandchildren; foster grandson, Mitch Murphy and family; good friends, Jarred and Lois Adkins; great-great-grandson, Tyren Brezeena; favorite nieces, Sharon Bohan, and Rhonda Stewart; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; the love of her life, Shadow Adkins; son, Michael Dean Meseraull; grandson, Todd A. Meseraull; great-grandson, Arik Mercer; brothers, Dude (Opal) Heinzle, and Bill Heinzel; sisters, Margaret (Clifford) Swanson, Ruth Spencer, Norma Bohan, and Donna (Rob) Robinson; nephew, Ron Swanson; and step-son-in-law, Charlie Ferrin.

Virginia “Ginger” Maxine Bybee

Virginia “Ginger” Maxine Bybee, age 81, of North Platte passed away at her home July 13, 2017.  She was born August 5, 1935 to Leonard “Jeff” and Maxine (Saum) Florom in Maywood, Nebraska.  The family moved to North Platte in 1941 where Ginger attended school, graduating with the North Platte High School Class of 1954.

As a young girl, Ginger spent many summers in Curtis with her cousins, hiking, swimming, and riding horses.  She was the oldest of 6 children and up until her death she loved spending time with her extended family.  She always had a story to tell.

For many years Ginger owned the hair studio Cuts R Us in the Parkade Plaza in North Platte and later retiring from Shopko.  In 2004 she met and married Mason Kenneth Bybee, they moved to Farmington, CA and lived there until his passing.  She loved California, but did miss her Nebraska home.

Ginger is survived by her brothers, Harvey Florom of North Platte, and Robert (Peggy) Florom of Pueblo West CO; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; two special “kids” Gracey her dachshund and Riley her corgi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mason; sisters, Jean Goff,  and Gwendolyn Irwin; brother, Kevin Florom; sister-in-law, Jeanette Florom; and grandparents, Mary and Bob Florom, and Harvey and Opal Saum.

Cremation was chosen and graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Clint Walker officiating.  Those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Taylon Glen Thompson

Taylon Glen Thompson, 22, of McPherson County, passed away July 11, 2017.

Taylon was born on July 3, 1995, in North Platte to Gary Thompson and Shari Michelle Musser. The first two years of his life, he resided in Whitman, and the family later bought a small ranch west of Tryon, which he called home.

His utmost treasures were being a dad to his toddler son, his dog, Brian (whom he also considered a son) and his dog, Chancy. Hunting and ice fishing were his favorite pastimes. He was a hard worker and enjoyed fencing, working with his dad, mechanic work and especially well drilling with his uncle, Nick.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Don Musser, and uncles, Stacy and Justin.

Taylon is survived by his fiancée, Catherine Ward, with whom he shares his son, Case Loren Thompson; his dad, Gary (Kristie) Thompson; mom, Shari Musser; grandparents, Vern and Linda Thompson and Daisy Musser; sister, Angie (Chad) Coker; stepsister, Mason (Greg) Young; stepbrother, Noah Burris; nephew and niece, Lee and Lexi Coker; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He loved them very much.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Maroney officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Eclipse Cemetery near Tryon. The family requests casual dress. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 17, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas G. Brownell Death Notice

Thomas G. Brownell, 65, of North Platte, died June 26, 2017, at the hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.

He is survived by two sons, Pierre and Jared, and one daughter, Elizabeth.

A private service by his family will be at a later date.

Terry L. Konruff

Terry L. Konruff, 70, passed away May 25, 2017, in Tampa, Florida.

Terry was born on Nov. 29, 1946, in North Platte to his loving parents, Charles B. and Janet L. “Hammond” Konruff. He attended North Platte Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1965. Terry was active in Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and played high school football and American Legion baseball. After high school, Terry attended Kearney State College, where he was first baseman for the Lopers baseball team. He then attended Business College in Grand Island.

During the Vietnam War, Terry was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. When he returned, Terry was hired by Union Pacific Railroad, continuing in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and several uncles. Under the Union Pacific banner, he worked in North Platte, Kansas City, St. Louis and Omaha and in various departments including the yard office, IT, marketing and sales, fiber optics and claims. Terry retired from UPRR on Nov. 30, 2001, after 30 years of service.

During his retirement, Terry was active in his church and the Lions Club, and he loved to play golf, often building golf clubs for family and friends. The highlight of his golfing career was a hole-in-one at the La Vista Falls Golf course while golfing with his son, Adam. Most importantly, Terry was an avid and lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker fan and could be found most Saturdays with Carole and other Husker fans faithfully cheering on the Big Red football team at Beef O’ Brady’s Pub in Tampa, Florida.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Carole of Tampa; mother, Janet Konruff of North Platte; daughter, Lisa (Lindsey) Konruff of Lafayette, Colorado; son, Adam Konruff of Kansas City; sisters, Linda Konruff of North Platte and Marj Nichelson of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter, Staci (Mark) Haase of Tampa; son, Shane (Jennifer) Roberts of Kansas City; eight grandchildren, Laci, Kelli, Kenny, Elijah, Eva, Elliott, Grayson and Ryan; nephew, Brett Nichelson; nieces, Ashlee (Justin) Rice of Orange City, Florida, Faith Morgan and Laura Morgan, both of Kansas City; and two great-nephews, Jackson and Oliver Rice.

Services were on May 30 in Tampa, Florida. Terry will be laid to rest at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with military honors. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the First Christian Church, 220 N. Vine St., North Platte, following the burial.

Tina Marie Wallace

Tina Marie Wallace, of North Platte, NE, passed away at Great Plains Health on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the age of 60.

Tina was born December 8, 1956, to Emil Loren and Velda Marguerite Minton Kern in Ransom, KS. She grew up in Park City and Wichita, KS, then after her schooling she was married to Terry Watts. They had three children and later divorced.

In September of 1986, Tina was set up on a blind date with Douglas E. Wallace and a year later, the two were married on December 19, 1987, at the Baptist Church in Norwich, KS. The couple later lived in Salina, KS, Wakeeney, KS, Atwood, KS, and in 1999 they moved to North Platte. In 2006 they moved to Baltimore, MD, for two years then returned to North Platte where she had her own daycare, Tina’s Daycare, which she operated until just recently.

Tina loved children and being a mom. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, going to garage sales, reading and solving crossword puzzles. Her willingness to help others in need, and her infectious and contagious laugh will be greatly missed by all.

She leaves behind her husband, Douglas Wallace, of North Platte; sons, Robert Watts, of Bristow, OK, and Shawn (Michelle) Wallace, of North Platte; daughters, Sandi Watts, of Cushing, OK, Dusty Watts, of Drumright, OK, and Shannella Wallace, of North Platte; grandchildren, Ethan, Hayden, Logan, Lillie, Triston, Taryn, Eli, Ean, Katilyn, Carter, Aubrey, Khloe and Paisley; sister, Donna (Jim) Stafford, of Derby, KS; brothers, Jack Kern, of Wichita, KS, and James Kern, of Bel Aire, KS; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family.

Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Velda Kern; brothers, Joseph and Jere Kern; sister, Barbara Nance; and grandson, eXavier Wallace.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Callahan Cancer Center.

Margaret Eastburn

Margaret Easturn, age 90, of Arnold, ied July 12, 2017 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

She married Jim Eastburn on July 21, 1946 and the couple made their home in Arnold. From the early 50’s, they owned and operated Jim’s Bar until 1979.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 6 brothers, 2 sisters and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry (Joan) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Dan of North Platte and Lee of Arnold, 8 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jim) Jacobson of North Platte, Kelley (Sean) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Scott (Robyn) Geiser of Cozad, Jessica (Brandon) Curyea of Kearney, Christa Eastburn of Chicago, Jackie Atkins of Arnold, Joe Bob (Randi) Atkins of Arnold and Jenny Atkins of North Platte, and 12 great-grandchildren; an honorary granddaughter, Mackenzie Kulp of Arnold; and a sister, Mildred Pinkston of Arnold.

Memorials are suggested to St. Agnes Catholic hurch or the Arnold Cemetery in her memory.

Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at St. Agnes Catholic Church. The family suggests Husker apparel for the wake services, which will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Father James Hunt as celebrant. Burial will  be in the Arnold Cemetery. Arnold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
