Randy Joe Kramer, 64, of Stapleton died October 4, 2016, on the feast day of his beloved St. Francis of Assisi. He was born March 3, 1952, in North Platte to Harold and Minnie Juanita (Hodges) Kramer of Stapleton. He lived his entire life in Lincoln and Logan counties. Randy spent his time sowing seeds of corn, wheat, and soy beans, as well as peace and good will wherever he went. On July 29, 1978, he married his high school sweetheart, Monica Kramer. To this union were born three wonderful children, Moriah Elizabeth, Nathan Nicholas, and Joshua Joseph.
Randy graduated from Stapleton High School with the class of 1970. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1974 with degrees in Animal Science and Agriculture. Randy was a member of the Ag Men Fraternity and many of his friends from high school and college remained lifelong friends.
Randy’s career path was directed toward agriculture. After graduating from college he worked at Chadron State College designing a cooperative agricultural program with other colleges in the United States. He then worked as a research assistant at the North Platte Experiment Station, now known as the University of Nebraska Research Center. He then began his farming career in Logan county working beside his father.
Randy was always concerned about the land. He knew and appreciated the delicate balance of the eco-system and how it would affect our environment. He looked forward to spring and fall; a time to sow and a time to reap the harvest.
In the early 80’s he was recognized as the Outstanding Young Farmer in the area. He was also a long standing board member of the Logan County Coop. Randy spent numerous hours “talking over” and strategizing farming ideas with his friends. They respected his quick wit and ability to bring optimism to nearly every situation.
Randy enjoyed people, and most of all he loved his family. His children and grandchildren were the stars of his life. Card playing, hunting, fishing, coin collecting, and St. Pat’s Irish football were among the many recreational activities he enjoyed.
Randy’s faith was very important to him. He loved his creator, Jesus Christ, and saw His goodness manifested in people and nature. He and his wife Monica shared their faith by teaching catechism to young adults, serving as camp counselors at Outward Bound and retreats, and presenting talks at Marriage Encounter weekends.
Randy is survived by his wife, Monica; his three children and their families, Moriah (Josh) Eickhoff and their children Elise and Jase, Nathan (special friend, Tricia Facka) and Nathan’s daughter, MacKena, and Joshua (Jennifer) Kramer and their son Peyton; and a sister, Deanna McDonald.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Wayne Kramer; brother-in-law, John McDonald; niece, Sarah McDonald; and an infant sister, Janice Marlene.

Lyal Laimon Lamb Jr., 80 of North Platte died on Monday Oct 3, 2016 at the Cozad Nursing Home.
Lyal was born on Nov. 19, 1935 in Eupora, Mississippi to Laimon Lyal Sr. and Claude Hubbard Lamb.
Lyal met and married Naomi Gaynelle Palmertree on April 6, 1956 in Greenwood, MS. To this union three children were born, David Lyal Lamb Sr., Gayla Sue Lamb Purdy and Melanie Carol Lamb Shannon.
Lyal served his country in the Army from 1956 to 1958 during the Korean Conflict. Serving time in Stuttgart, Germany where his son David was born.
Lyal first moved to North Platte in 2001. He moved back and forth between Greenwood, MS, Kearney, NE, and Trenton, TN after the loss of his wife then returned to North Platte in Oct 2013.
Lyal work various jobs in his early years before he settled in as being a meat cutter at various grocery stores mainly in Memphis TN, and private meat markets through his life. His last employment was with Sixth Street Grocery Stores in 1997.
Lyal is survived by a son, David Lyal Lamb of Arizona; daughters, Gayla Sue Purdy of North Platte, NE and Melanie Carol Shannon of Kearney, NE; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Brent Lamb and Debra Lamb Lindsey of Vicksburg MS.
Lyal was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gaynelle; a grandson, Jason Purdy; siblings, Larry Lamb, Roger Holeman, Sherry Lamb Tanner, and Keith Lamb.

Mary Ernestine Creel, 86, of North Platte passed away October 3, 2016 at her home with her husband of 64 years at her side.
Mary Ernestine was born in North Platte June 27, 1930 to Ernest W. and Mary I. (McNeel) Miles. She moved to California with her family where her father worked at the shipyards. Mary Ernestine graduated high school in Oakland, Ca. She met Jack E. Creel while in California when he was discharged from the United States Navy. The two were married August 31, 1952 in Oakland, CA, and continued living in Oakland for a short while before moving to North Platte. Mary Ernestine took care of her home and raised her family.
She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, belonged to the Catholic Daughters and the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, of North Platte; children, James Creel, Carol Ann McKain, Julie Ann Perez, all of North Platte and Ann Marie (Mike) Richardson of Kearney; grandchildren, Miles (Tristan) and Jackson Creel, Laura McKain, Claire (Caleb) Snyder, John (Laurie) McKain, Jane (Joshua) Dye, Eric, Adam, James (Darriann), Lee (Mariana), Alan, and Luke Perez, Amanda Nelson, David (Aly) Schwenke, and Alex Schwenke; great-grandchildren, Haley McKain, Justin Helvie, Cohen Snyder, Maxwell Dye, Rex Dye, Leah McKain, Elli Perez, Kenzi Perez, Evan Perez, Olivia Perez, Bentley Brady, Elisha Schwenke, and Molly Nelson; and numerous other family members and friends.

Marcia Rae Kuhlmann, 71, of North Platte, died October 2, 2016, at Great Plains Health. Marcia was born on February 18, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was adopted in 1947, by her new parents, Virgil and Vivian McNitt Kuhlmann. Through the Opportunity Center, Marcia worked in the workshop, and with the cleaning crew. She was proud of her cleaning job at Centennial Park Nursing Home, where she worked for many years. A member of the Salvation Army, Marcia enjoyed her Bible Study group and visiting the Nursing Homes with the Captain. Marcia loved to spend time with her family. She loved to shop, enjoyed playing cards and games, doing word search, and the coloring club at the Library. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a brother, Steve (Sherri) Kuhlmann of Loveland, CO; a sister, Barb (Andy) Collins of North Platte; nieces, Candi (John) Burns, Deb Collins (Ken Siemek), Merri Jo O’Dell, Maggie Kuhlmann, Lucie Kuhlmann (Mark Clintovici); nephews, Mike (Kathy) Collins, Sam (Colleen) Kuhlmann; 11 much loved great nieces and nephews; her good friend Kara Newtson. Rex Lee Forrester Sr., 77 of Maricopa, AZ (formerly of North Platte) passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at home with his loving brother Tom at his side.
Rex was born December 11, 1938 in Browning, MO to O.T. and Goldie (Shatto) Forrester. His family moved to North Platte in the early 40’s. Rex graduated from North Platte Sr. High with the class of 1957.
On May 14, 1961 he was united in marriage to Sally Sheets, and to this union three children were born, Rex Lee Jr., Jennifer Grace, and Patrick Dee.
On November 30, 1961 Rex was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving with the 4th US Army Co B 141st Sig Bn 1st AD in Ft Hood, TX. He was honorably discharged in November of 1963. After discharge he returned to North Platte and resumed his career as an electrician, working for Snell Electric for many years, and later working as an IBEW traveling electrician, before semi-retiring in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents O.T. and Goldie, a sister, Joeann ten Bensel; and brother-in-law Dr. Tom Ward.
He is survived by his wife, Carole, of Maricopa, AZ; a daughter Jennifer Grace (Todd) Hergenrader of North Platte; sons, Rex Lee Jr. (Sheila) Forrester of Lewellen, NE, and Patrick Dee (Tami) Forrester, of North Platte, step-sons, John, Gary, & Stephen Nye; brothers, O.T. Jr. “Tom” (Barb) Forrester of McAllen, TX, and Robert Forrester of North Platte; sisters, Mary Jane (Ralph) Anderson of North Platte, Peggy Ward of Des Moines, IA, and Phyllis (Larry) Ransdell of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Paul ten Bensel of Cambridge, NE; grandchildren, Ashley Forrester, Cory Hergenrader, Drew Hergenrader, Hannah (Rick) Dolan all of North Platte, Emma (Tony) Hipke, of Bradley, IL, and Grace Forrester, of North Platte,; great-grandchildren, Eddie Lee and Ella Rose Dolan, of North Platte; and many nephews and nieces.

Robert LeRoy McPeak, 79, of North Platte, passed away October 1, 2016 at Great Plains Health.
Robert was born in Stapleton, NE on June 10, 1937 to Roy and Mary (Montgomery) McPeak. He graduated from Gandy High School.
Robert was married to Catherine Morgan on March 6, 1964, in Brewton, Alabama. Their son, Jack A. McPeak, joined the family on December 31, 1964.
The family traveled the east coast of the United States where both Robert and Catherine were in the Navy until Robert’s retirement in 1975. After his retirement they lived in California and Nebraska.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine; sons, Dave McPeak; and Jerry Patterson; sisters, Marge and Ruth; brothers, George, Arlen, and Don; several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his sons, Jack A. McPeak of North Platte, and Gerry Patterson; daughter, Roberta Patterson; grandchildren, Ryan Hooper, Charlea Wickam and Brittany Baker; great-grandchildren, Caden Wickam, Faith Baker and Justin Baker; sisters, Lois Sator of Ogallala and Lenora Gandee of Clark Fort, Idaho; and a brother, Bill McPeak of Presho, South Dakota.

Agnes Lorraine ‘Aggie’ Gosnell, age 88, of North Platte, NE, passed away at Linden Court on Friday, September 30, 2016.

Aggie was born October 11, 1927, to Jesse Oliver and Flora Viola Johnston Weekly at North Platte where she grew up and attended school. During W.W.II Aggie volunteered at the North Platte Canteen. She baked cookies and pies with her mother and wrapped hamburgers at Coney Island for the soldiers coming through on the trains. She also worked at Jim’s Cafe.

On March 13, 1945, Aggie was united in marriage to Earl Lawrence Gosnell at North Platte. They lived in Sidney, NE, for a time then returned to North Platte where they raised their family and operated different businesses. They owned Earl Gosnell Excavation as well as North Platte Peat Moss until 1966. After Earl died in 1964, Aggie was a cook and waitress at various restaurants, worked for the Harris News Agency and later worked in the Laundry Department at the Stockman Inn.

When the kids were young she attended many of their sporting events then later bowled for a number of years and played shuffle board. Aggie attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the V.F.W., Eagles and Moose Auxiliaries and enjoyed going to each of the clubs. Aggie was a great mother who will be missed by all her family.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Elaine) Gosnell, Ralph (Mary Jo) Gosnell, Lois (Jim) Harris and Donna (Jim) Weedman, all of North Platte; and 12 grandchildren, Pennie (Jack) Reynolds, Jimmy Harris, Brian Harris, Susie (Eric) Dobbs-Anderson, Tami Gosnell, Erik Gosnell, Jim (Shawna) Chamberlain, Bryan (Lynne) Holliday, Tommy (Amelia) Gosnell, Becky (Jeff) Brittenham, Shannon (Rick) Schroeder and Jeanie (Walter) Shimmin.

Survivors also include 18 great-grandchildren, Zachary Huddleston, James, Jaycen and Jessie Harris, Matthew Jacobs, Tehya Dobbs, Tristan Anderson, Bryanna Chamberlain, Donavon Weedman, Jasi (Ryan) Quick, Cole Weedman, Kyce Shimmin, Sadie, Sophia and Jayden Nichols, Jenner Gosnell and Roland Brittenham; four great great-grandchildren, Jaxon Weedman, Zaedyn and Kynzleigh Quick and Blake Weedman; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family.

Along with her husband, Earl, Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Flora Weekly; brothers, Howard (Katheryne) Weekly, Otis (Velma) Weekly, Oliver (Leola) Weekly and Virgil Weekly; sisters, Mary (Chester ‘Louis’) Kellie and infant, Viola; and a great-granddaughter, Zena Huddleston.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Chaplain Richard Karr officiating. Burial will follow in the North Platte Cemetery. Mary E. Gill, age 93 of Sutherland, passed away due to heart failure Tuesday September 27, 2016 at Sutherland Care Center.
Mary was born on June 17, 1923 in Wilsonville, NE to Orville and Eliza (McCall) McFarland. She graduated from Wilsonville High School and married William Riley Gill on October 2, 1942 in Oberlin, KS. The couple lived in Wilsonville, Paxton, Sutherland and Monta Vista, CO, finally settling in Sutherland in 1960. Prior to moving to Colorado, Mary worked at First Security Bank; she resumed her job when they returned to Sutherland and worked there for a total of 25 years. Adams State Bank bought First Security Bank and she retired a year later in 1977. Due to Bill’s health, the couple vacationed in Tucson, AZ and ended up moving there. After his death in 1991 she returned to Sutherland and took care of her family. Mary did a lot of sewing and alterations for people, enjoyed knick knacks, lawn ornaments and feeding the birds and squirrels. She adored her grandkids.
Mary is survived by her children, Larry (Patty) Gill of Arlington, WA, Patricia (Rod) Canaday, Diana (Pat) Kallhoff both of Sutherland; 6 grandchildren, Diana, Penny, Chuck, Kathy, Brian, Matthew; 11 great grandchildren, Danielle, Aaron, Brandon, Tiffany, Katie, Taylor, Justin, Sage, Gavin, Dillan, Donavon; 1 great great grandchild, Christian; brother Louis (LeVeda) McFarland of McCook, NE; as well as several nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Eliza McFarland; husband Bill, and sister EffaDale Luther.
