Myron W. Barnes, 77, of North Platte, passed away August 9, 2016 at Premier Estates Senior Living. He was born May 19, 1939 to Earl and Alice (Hopkins) Barnes at Callaway. Myron grew up in Custer County and later moved to Thedford, graduating with the class of “57”. Myron was united in marriage to Delores Elliott on September 15, 1957 at Thedford. He worked in the Sandhills for different ranchers and later at feedlots in the area. Myron had a strong work ethic and was devoted to his family. He enjoyed ice fishing, horseshoes and playing cards. Myron is survived by his five children, Randy (Roberta) Barnes of Halsey, Wyatt (Kelli) Barnes of Brady, Julie Parks of Emporia, KS, Mark (Jaime) Barnes of Billings, MT and Vickie Trisdale of Brady; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine (John Paul) Morris of Thedford. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delores in 2007; a brother, Harold Barnes and a great grandson Frankie Ruiz. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Kaye Marie (Tuma) Borden

Kaye Marie (Tuma) Borden, age 46 of North Platte, NE began her eternal life Monday August 8, 2016 surrounded by her family at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.
Kaye was born on February 20, 1970 in North Platte, NE to Donald and Twylia Irene (Bobo) Tuma. She attended all her school years in North Platte, graduating in 1988. After high school she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was in the cryptology field. She was stationed in Edzell, Scotland where she met her husband to be, John Borden. Her next tour was in San Diego, CA where she was honorably discharged in 1994. Kaye and John returned to North Platte to be married at St. Patrick’s Church on May 5, 1995, and eventually made their home in North Platte in 1997. In 1998 they welcomed their son Christopher into their family. Highlights of her life were watching her son grow up and play sports, her family, Husker games, Detroit Redwing hockey games, F C Barcelona soccer, baking for others, especially kolaches and “Decadent Desserts” for the Friday night fish frys at the parish hall. She was especially focused on taking care of her dad after her mother passed away in 2010. She took on the role of being a mother as she did everything, giving it her all and always putting Christopher before herself. Kaye had a lot of limitations, but nothing stopped her once she set her mind to it. She had the strongest will anyone could have. She belonged to St. Patrick’s Parish, was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the editor of their newsletter, she was the Catholic Daughters Sunshine Committee, she was active in Catholic school activities, especially in the McDaid library when her son was in elementary school, she also helped create and organize the parish library with Mary Ellis.
Kaye is survived by her husband John; son Christopher; father Donald Tuma; sister Robyn (Rocky) Torres; twin sister Karen (Gary) Bassett; nieces Jessica Binegar, Julia Kellie and Jenna Torres; nephews Jory Torres and Jeremiah Binegar; great nieces Pyper and Audrianna; and great nephew Leighton; as well as other extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Twylia; grandparents Stephen and Agnes (Zmek) Tuma; and Clarence and Keo (Clawson) Bobo.

Ron Eugene Sivits

Ron Eugene Sivits, age 71, of Maxwell, NE, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 9, 2016.

Ron was born August 29, 1944, to Lester Martin and Ethel Violet Blagdon Sivits in North Platte, NE. Ron grew up on the farm north of Maxwell and graduated from Kearney High School. He then started trucking and did so for many years then went to work for Wal-mart for nine years before retiring due to health reasons.

Ron was married to Sharon Williams and they lived in Minden, NE and later divorced. He married Sandy and they lived in Boulder, CO then divorced. While living in Mt. Pleasant, TX, Ron was married to Diane. They later moved to Maxwell and eventually divorced. Ron married Patricia Lemons and they made their home north of Maxwell where they were members of the Maxwell Baptist Church.

Ron was a “jack of all trades” and could fix anything. He enjoyed being outside and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Maxwell; sons, Ken Sivits, of Fort Scott, KS, Mark (Sandy) Sivits, of Denver, CO, and Brett Sivits, of Vancouver, WA; stepsons, Doug (Kristen) Yonker, Terry Yonker and Randy Yonker and stepdaughter, Jamie (Jeff) Eichner, all of North Platte; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Hoffmann, of Denver, CO, and Darlene Ennes, of Torrington, WY; brother, Darrel (Elizabeth) Sivits, of Kearney, NE; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Ethel; and brother, Duane Sivits.

Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Maxwell Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Lyzenga officiating. Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery south of Maxwell. Jerry Allen Nuss

Jerry Allen Nuss, age 74, of North Platte, NE, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Jerry was born August 12, 1941, to Jacob, Sr. and Amelia Weinbender Nuss at Scottsbluff, NE. The family later moved to Alliance, NE, where Jerry graduated from Alliance High School. He later served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964.

Following his discharge, Jerry returned to Alliance where he enrolled in business classes and eventually became a Bank Examiner. His work took him to Ogallala, NE and he traveled throughout Western Nebraska.

Jerry later met Shirley Stearns in North Platte and they were married in 1968 at the First Christian Church. They lived in North Platte for a year then moved to Norfolk, NE and later to Kearney, NE where Jerry attended Kearney State College and earned his B.S. Degree in Business. In 1972 Jerry and Shirley moved to Papillion, NE for a short time then returned to North Platte where they raised their daughters and later divorced.

Jerry worked for American State Savings, New York Life, Koch Insurance, Best Linen, and had Jerry’s Catering. Later in life he found his true passion, being in the kitchen. Jerry had his own food truck and worked at Hobb’E’s. He was never short on conversation when it came to talking about food.

Jerry was a member of the Optimist Club and F.O. Eagles #2839. In his younger years, Jerry loved coaching softball and later enjoyed going to the Eagles where he was a self proclaimed pool shark.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Nuss (Marty Ocken), of Omaha, NE, and Kim (Steve) Laga, of Littleton, CO; three grandsons, Lukas, Brayden and Shay; sisters, Gladys (Adrian) Eaton, of Loveland, CO, and Mary Ann (Ted) Becker, of Gering, NE; brother-in-law, David Andreasen, of Greeley, CO; special friend, Dee Wilson, of North Platte; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob, Sr. and Amelia; brother and wife, Jake, Jr. and Lois Nuss; and two sisters, Jeanne Andreasen and Eleanore Trupp and husband, Harvey Trupp.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Gary Smith officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Arthur “Artie” R.E. McEntire

Arthur “Artie” R.E. McEntire, Jr., age 53 of North Platte went home to be with his Lord on Sunday August 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Artie was born on February 3, 1963 in North Platte, NE to Arthur E. and Patricia Ann (Stubbs) McEntire, Sr. After high school he worked in the shipping and receiving department at the hospital and at his cousins’ antique businesses. He loved nature and loved to be outside. He enjoyed the Huskers and the Raiders, watching his nephews play sports, body surfing and fishing. Artie had the biggest heart in the whole world.
Artie is survived by his parents Art and Pat McEntire of North Platte; sisters Lori (Pat) Clinch, Patty (Pat) Condon, Misti (Michael Ben Torres) McEntire, and sister by choice Carolyn O’Brien all of North Platte; nieces Elizabeth (Brian Collins) and Allison Waltman, Bailey O’Brien; nephews Jestin, Michael, Joseph and Cory Clinch; Patrick and James Thompson, Chris and Jonathan Waltman; uncle Rick McEntire; and aunts Jean Triplett and Delores Buell.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Coy and Florence McEntire; maternal grandparents Raymond Stubbs, Lilly Stubbs-Johnson, and Jason Johnson; uncles Ray Stubbs Jr., Richard Stubbs; aunt Mildred Olson; and cousin Dustin Reed.

Mona Rae (Hergenrader) Robinson

Mona Rae (Hergenrader) Robinson, 56, of North Platte, passed away August 4, 2016.
She was born in Lexington on August 26, 1959 to Dalbert Dean and Orla Marlene (Price) Hergenrader.
Mona enjoyed fishing, spending time in the mountains and finding whatever her family lost. She was a “good finder”.
She loved playing and watching sports and was a proud husker fan. She tore up some sand volleyball courts in her time as it was her favorite sport to play next to throwing ball with her kids in the backyard.
Mona loved taking walks with her husband and dogs in the evening while star gazing.
Mona was full of love and put everyone before herself.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Orla.
Survivors include her father, Dalbert; husband, Randy; son, JD (Hilary) and soon to be grandson, Caden; daughter, Jamie; brothers, Monty (Connie), Tony (Tonya) and Todd (Jenny) Hergenrader; and her father and mother-in-law, Carroll and Barb McNeel.

Gerald L. “Jerry” Brewer

Gerald L. “Jerry” Brewer, age 78 of North Platte passed away August 7, 2016 peacefully at his home with his family by his side. He was born September 22, 1937 at North Platte to Theodore F.W. and Lois M. (Heskett) Brewer. Jerry graduated from North Platte High School in 1955 and was later united in marriage to Lois E. Schuler on January 3, 1957 at Boulder, CO. He was in a family partnership of Brewer Transit Mix Concrete Company and owner of Solid Waste Disposal for a number of years. Jerry was an avid hunter, elk hunting in Colorado and Wyoming, pheasant hunting in Nebraska and North Dakota, and goose hunting with his family on his farm. Jerry established Brewer Land & Cattle, where he sold property and raised cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats. Providing a place for his family to hunt and fish was important to him. He was proud of his granddaughters Alice and Kelli who played softball for the North Platte Sensations and Alice played for the University of Nebraska and watch his great-grandchildren in their sports and school activities. His family was the love of his life along with his dog “General” who all kept him going through his fight with cancer. Jerry will always be loved and never forgotten. He along with Rick Cook and Mary Ann Blackledge, were instrumental in starting North Platte Clean City Committee, now known as Keep North Platte and Lincoln County Beautiful. Jerry was a member of Pork Producers and served as president and chairman of the Nebraskaland Days Pork Breakfast, Eagles Aerie 2839, Loyal Order of the Moose, where he was a charter member and served as president. He was also a cubmaster for the Cody School Cub Scouts. His family includes his wife; Lois of North Platte, sons; Ted A. Brewer of Kearney and Steven Brewer of North Platte, granddaughters; Alice (Dan) Shea and Kelli (Wyatt Adams) Brewer, great-grandchildren, Daniel, Owen, Kaode, and Kenadi, sister-in-laws, Sherry Hupfer of Cozad and Sandie Schuler of Estacada, Oregon, and faithful Schnauser, General Robert E. Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in law; Tom and Fern Schuler, brother-in laws; Tommy and Gordon Schuler, and sister-in-law; Lily Kucera. Mary Alice Baumgartner

Mary Alice Baumgartner, age 92, of North Platte, NE, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Linden Court in North Platte.

Mary was born February 1, 1924, to Gust and Jennie Kennedy Nelson at Overton, NE, and later the family moved to Paxton, NE. Mary graduated from Paxton High School in 1942 then moved to Salt Lake City, UT. where she worked for the Office of Price Administration (O.P.A.) which was responsible for food rationing during World War II.

On October 30, 1943, Mary was united in marriage to John Lawrence Baumgartner in North Platte. Following John’s discharge from the army, the couple moved to Omaha, NE until 1948 when they settled in North Platte. Mary stayed home with the children while they were young then went to work for North Platte Public Schools Food Service Department. After 41 years Mary retired in 2011 at the age of 87.

Mary loved gardening and baking, which she happily shared with her friends and family. She was well known for her amazing divinity that was requested by many. Mary was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Diane (Mark) Brodbeck, of San Diego, CA, and Gary (Vicki) Baumgartner, of Madrid, NE; four grandchildren, Tye (Jennifer) Baumgartner, Leah (Jon) Mussmann, Tracey (Teion) Turner and Troy Brodbeck (Andi Freeman); six great-grandchildren, Teion Turner II, Taylor Turner, Annabelle Brodbeck, Zoe Baumgartner, Grayson Baumgartner and Caius Mussmann; her special friend, Sharon Palmer, of North Platte; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John, and their son, Joseph; her parents, Gust and Jennie Nelson; three sisters, Hilda Swenson, Margaret Barry and Dorothy Smith; and three brothers, Charles, Oscar and Pershing Nelson.

Cremation was chosen. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Rex L. Ealy

Rex L. Ealy, age 91, of Moorefield, NE, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

Rex was born December 24, 1924, to Harold and Ethel LaBounty Ealy at Hastings, NE. He grew up on the family farm east of Moorefield, NE, and graduated from Farnam High School. Rex then joined the U.S. Army in 1944.

Following his discharge in 1946, Rex returned to Moorefield then moved to North Platte where he hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a Fireman for the next eight years.

On November 14, 1948, Rex was united in marriage to Dona Margaret Crewdson in North Platte. They later returned to Moorefield to live and work on the family farm. Rex was also a crop duster and owner of Ealy Spraying Service. He flew out of the Curtis Airport and sprayed fields throughout Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and North Dakota.

After retiring in 1985 Rex and Dona continued to live on the farm and wintered in Port Mansfield, TX for 24 years until 2008.

Rex was a member of the American Legion and Nebraska Aviation Trades Association. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting and later liked to fish in the Texas gulf.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly 68 years, Dona, of Moorefield; two daughters, Maurice (Kevin) Bortner, of Moorefield and Ann Ealy, of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren, Danielle (TJ) Harding and Heath (Hilary) Bortner; three great-grandchildren, Morgan and Donna Jean Harding and Barrett Bortner; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ethel; and two sisters, Jeanette Garner and Pauline Messersmith.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
