Connie Jo Bible, age 71 of North Platte, passed away August 3, 2016 at the University Medical Center in Omaha with her family at her side. She was born February 18, 1945 at McCook, NE to Ruth Jeffers and Joseph J. Epperson, Jr. As a young girl, Connie worked in many of the McCook restaurants. This is where she met Ken, her husband of 53 years. They married in 1962 and over the years they lived in McCook, Lexington, Ogallala, and Cambridge before settling in North Platte for the last 27 years. She worked at TRW in Ogallala before joining her husband in various business ventures including 3 B&D Products, in Ogallala, KC Industries in Ogallala and Cambridge, Midwest ScreenPrint & Embroidery and Miss Connie’s Connection in North Platte. Her last business venture was the realization of a lifelong dream to build a 50’s themed diner, “The Pink Poodle.” Her untimely illness caused the closing of this dream and was her big regret. Over the years she had many other accomplishments. In Ogallala, she worked with youth on probation, she served on numerous Congregational Church boards, as a Sunday School teacher, and was a Sunday School Supt. In Cambridge, she served on the Cambridge City Council, on the state foster care advisory board, she was active in organizing the Country Concert Association and helped to promote over 40 music acts, with one of the highlights being Reba McEntire. She organized and ran a young girl’s dance and drill team, The Trojanettes. For 5 years they performed around the Cambridge area and across the state. She was very proud of the accomplishments of these young girls. In North Platte, she was proud to have built and marketed the butterfly product called “Flutterbies.” These were sold on QVC and she was able to introduce them on a live QVC broadcast out of Omaha, NE. She served and was active in the North Platte Original Town Organization and was instrumental in helping with the creation of the Rail Fest Celebration. She was always a helpmate to her husband and over the 53 years that they shared together, they enjoyed many common interests in music, dancing, movies, garage sales, and auctions. She loved her family and so enjoyed spending time with her great grandsons. She leaves behind many friends and acquaintances that will miss her bright smile and positive, uplifting presence. Survivors include, husband, Kenneth R. Bible, daughter Rebecca Jo Wrage (Shawn), grandson Brandon D. Fimple (Alexis), Great grandsons Carter, Mason, and Easton Fimple, all of North Platte, sisters, Sally Johnson of Grand Island, Ginger Dunivan (Ernie) of Harviell, MO, and Robyn Cornelius (Harry) of Ogallala, brothers, Jim Johnson (Rhonda) of North Platte and Earl Johnson (Becky) of Scottsbluff, sister-in-law Connie Pawelczak of Chelmsford, MA and brother-in-law Jon Bible (Janis) of Ceresco, aunt, Shirley Wagner (Willis) of North Branch, Minnesota, uncle Dale Seeman of McCook, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded by mother, Ruth Whaley, Father Joe Epperson Jr., son, Robert Edward Bible, father and mother-in-law Robert and Ferne Bible, infant sister-in-law Nancy Bible, aunts Mary Seeman and Darden Weskamp. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Berean Church in North Platte. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery at McCook, NE. Mike Boyle
Mike Boyle, age 65, of Hershey, NE, passed away at home on Thursday, August 4, 2016.
On August 28, 1950, James Michael was born to James Vincent and Melva Jean Fisher Boyle at North Platte, NE. He grew up north of Hershey and graduated from Hershey High School in 1968. Mike then moved to Wyoming where he attended Casper Community College on a rodeo scholarship. Mike joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1970-72.
Following his discharge, Mike worked for Butler & Son Rodeo Company in Oklahoma for a while then hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte. He worked on the railroad from 1973 until retiring in 2011 as an Locomotive Engineer.
On December 24, 1970, Mike was united in marriage to Linda Kay Osborne at Sutherland, NE. By 1978 they settled on the ranch, north of Hershey.
Mike loved to rodeo and was a member of the Nebraska State Rodeo Association, Senior Pro Rodeo and Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association (P.R.C.A.). He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He leaves behind his wife of nearly 46 years, Linda, of Hershey; son, Shawn (Billie Jo) Boyle, of Maxwell, NE; two grandchildren, Jessica Schrad and Justin Schrad; a great-granddaughter, Pasiley Connley; his sister, Colleen (Robert) Majors, of North Platte; two nephews, Brooks (Jennifer) Smith and Patrick Smith; as well as other family.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James and Melva; and brother, Patrick Boyle.
Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Doris “Jeannie” Yonker
Doris “Jeannie” Yonker, 81, of North Platte, passed away August 2, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born April 7, 1935 at Elm Creek, Nebraska to Benjamin and Jenny (Van Cleave) Hasbrouck. Jeannie grew up in the Elm Creek and North Platte area and was united in marriage to Eugene Yonker on May 15, 1954 at Broken Bow, NE and they made their home in North Platte. She was a loving mother and except for a short time that she was cleaning supervisor for Stockman Inn, Jeannie stayed at home and took care of their children. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed doing crafts and watching baseball and softball especially when her family played. She also was a great Husker fan. Her faith in Christ guided her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; 10 brothers and 4 sisters, Sam, Marion, Fred, Harry, George, Benjamin (Jr) Edith, Kenneth (Tub ), Raymond, Dorothy( Dot), Betty, Roy, Kathryn ( Tuttie) and Billy; son-in-law, Danny Saner; and great granddaughter, Jocelynn. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Hilderbrand of North Platte, Dona Gleason-Kreutzer (Tim), Deanna Saner(Chuck Theis) both of Kearney; her son, Dale Yonker of North Platte; grandchildren, Jeromie, Melissa, Jason, Ryan, Justin, William, Matthew, Michael and Michelle; and 20 great grandchildren. Rhonda Wiezorek
Rhonda Wiezorek, age 62 of North Platte, passed away July 31, 2016 at Great Plains Health after a courageous fight with cancer. She was born June 10, 1954 at Sutherland, NE to Clyde and Leona (Bryant) Anthony. Rhonda graduated from Paxton High School in 1973 and later attended North Platte Beauty Academy. She met Ron Wiezorek in the summer of 1973 and was later united in marriage on October 6, 1973. The couple made their home in North Platte, where he worked for the UPRR and she continued her education at North Platte Beauty Academy. They moved to Sarben in 1975 where they raised their sons, Dale and Wade. The family moved back to North Platte in 1986, where they owned and operated R & R Plumbing and Remodeling. Rhonda was also employed at North Platte Opportunity Center. Her hobbies included, volunteering, sewing, crafting, camping, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Ron Wiezorek; sons, Dale Rieley (Tiffany) Wiezorek, Wade Ryan (Stephanie) Wiezorek, and Joseph (Kasia) Wiezorek; brother, Larry Anthony; sisters, Linda Blackburn and Dianna Keeten; grandchildren, Adam, Ryan, Rieley, Taylor, Natalia, Olivia and Haylie; other relatives and many friends. Milo Burton Darling
Milo Burton Darling, 95, passed away August 1, 2016 at Linden Court in North Platte. Milo was born October 2, 1920 to Floyd and Cora Tompkins Darling at the family farm home west of Danbury, NE. He was the ninth child of ten. Milo grew up on the family farm and graduated from Danbury High School in 1938. There were no jobs, so he moved to Los Angeles in 1941 and worked for a bakery selling bread door to door. He married Alice Marilyn Townley in August of 1941. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on August 11 of this year. In 1942, they moved back to the farm near Danbury, Nebraska. Milo was called into the service in June of 1944 and reported to duty in Little Rock for basic training and then on to California. He left for the South Pacific on December 20, 1944. Milo was a member of the 77th Infantry and spent several months aboard ships in the Philippines before landing in Okinawa in April, 1945. On May 7, 1945 Milo was wounded, sent to Guam and then on to Hawaii before returning home. He was discharged in March, 1946. After returning home and recovering from his injuries, Milo received the Purple Heart for his service to his country. He and Marilyn had one son, Richard. Milo and Marilyn farmed near Danbury for many years. He also worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads. After retirement, they first moved to McCook and then to North Platte. While living in North Platte Milo volunteered many hours to RSVP, Habitat for Humanity, Farm Service Agency and the VA.
Milo is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his son Richard (Sue) Darling of North Platte; granddaughters Emily (Chris) Bessette, Winter Park, FL
and Jessica (Riley) Hughes, North Platte and great grandsons Ethan, Jack, Grey, Alexander and Lucas and great granddaughter Georgia, his sister Lois of Green Valley, AZ, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.

Dorene Katherine Way
Dorene Katherine Way, 89 of LaPorte, CO passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Linden Estates in North Platte, NE. Dorene was born December 22, 1926 in Sterling, NE to Elzie and Julia (Kontony) Goosman.
On December 21, 1946 she was joined in marriage to Elmer Dean Way in Marysville, KS. They lived and farmed in Surprise, NE until 1965 when they then moved to Imperial, NE where she was employed by the Imperial Manor, and was a lifelong Eagles member. She later moved to North Platte, NE before making her home in LaPorte, CO where she thrived working at the Laundromat for her son Ron and his wife, Rose. In July of 2016 she moved back to North Platte, NE where she spent 3 very enjoyable weeks at Linden Estates.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; baby daughter, Patricia Ann; sons, Michael Dean and Dennis Jay; brothers, Milton and Keith Goosman; sister, Louise (Goosman) Kovar; and Arnold the bear chasing Chihuahua.
Dorene is survived by her children, Ron (Rose) Way of Fort Collins, CO, Diane (Louie) Herrick of North Platte, Steve (Terri) Way of Brush, CO, Dan (Pam) Way of Payson, AZ, Bruce (Dianne) Way of Imperial, NE, Randy Way of Elsie, NE; and daughter-in-law, Sue Way of North Platte, NE.; 33 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren, all because two people fell in love!

Pam M. Poile
Pam M. Poile, 63, of North Platte passed away July 25, 2016 in Aurora, Colorado at University of Colorado Hospital. She was born on February 6, 1953 in Wagner, South Dakota to Nerl and Rose (Gilfillan) Ballweg. Pam graduated from Riggs High School in Pierre, South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Gene Poile on April 29, 1979 in Pierre, South Dakota. They made their home in North Platte in 1998 when Gene started his management position at Karl’s. Pam was employed at Hobbe’s Restaurant and most recently at Herberger’s. Pam was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing board games. She also loved spending time with her yorkies, Korki and Kadi. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Patricia (Mel) Handley, Dolly (Ed) Slagle, Toni Royce and a grandson, Jesse James Templeton. Byron O. Neiman
Byron O. Neiman, 83 years of age, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn. He was born on January 30, 1933 in McCook to Leslie and Lillian (Dueland) Neiman.
Soon after entry into the National Guard Byron was injured and return to McCook where he began a life long newspaper career.
He met his wife Helen Delores Erlewine and they were married in December of 1956. To this union three children were born.
Byron’s career in the newspaper business lasted over fifty years. After working at the McCook Daily Gazette, in 1972 he moved his family to North Platte and was the advertising director for the North Platte Telegraph. In 1976 Byron and Helen purchased the Hooker County Tribune in Mullen, Nebraska. In 1985 Byron and Helen move to Burwell, Nebraska were they published five weekly publications until his retirement in 1993. Even after retiring Byron was involved in the industry in an ownership capacity. He truly loved his profession and missed it dearly.
Byron was a very civic minded individual. He was the past patron of the Eureka Chapter #86 Order of Eastern Star, a Mason, a member of the Jaycees, he served as the Exalted Ruler of the Ord Elks Lodge #2371 and in his later years became very active in the Nebraska Admirals Association.
There wasn’t a hobby that Byron didn’t like. But his love for hunting and the comaraderie that was a part of the experience wasn’t exceeded by his ability to shoot the gun. He was an excellent shot in the field or at the trap range and had the titles to show for it. He truly was a social creature that loved to fish, golf, fly his rc airplanes, tinker with and show his cars. Anything and everything that involved interacting with people, Byron loved to do. But above everything, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Byron is survived by a daughter, Kimbra Buck and husband Thomas of Golden, Colorado; 2 sons, Kurt and wife Ruth of Elkhorn, Kendall and wife Peggy of Auburn; 8 grandchildren; sister, Dixie Hill of McCook; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00am, August 6, 2016 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, 412 West 4th, in North Platte officiating Rev. Jeffrey Nelson. Thomas Edward Mengel
Thomas Edward Mengel, age 76, of North Platte, NE died Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Tom was born May 13, 1940, to Francis Marion and Virginia F. McBride Mengel at Rock Springs, WY. He grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1959. Tom then joined the U.S. Navy in September and later served on the USS Hancock. Following his discharge in 1963 he returned to North Platte.
On August 27, 1961, Tom was united in marriage to Edith LaRue Clark at Fort Lewis, WA. Together they raised four children and shared a lifetime of love.
Tom hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1963 as an IBM Clerk and was known to those he worked with as “Pliers”. After 40 years he retired in 2003. Along with his job, Tom also made time to serve as a volunteer fireman, drive a school bus and serve on the Maxwell Village Board and Maxwell Athletic Club.
He was baptized in the Berean Fundamental Church and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1504, P.R. Halligan Post #163 American Legion and F.O. Eagles Aries #2839. Tom was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Over the years he taught children about bow hunting, archery, hunter safety and helped with an Awana church group. Most of all, Tom loved his family. He enjoyed watching his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids play sports.
Tom leaves behind his wife of 55 years, LaRue, of North Platte; their children, Rochelle (Mark) Miller, of North Platte, Thomas (Sharlene) Mengel, of Bellevue, NE, Tylon Mengel (Karen Thummel), of Colby, KS, and Trent (Pam) Mengel, of LaVista, NE; sister, Patricia Hanson, of Sandy, UT; sisters-in-law, Ann (Don), Carrie and Susan; and brothers-in-law, Danny, Dennis (Heidi) and Tom.
Survivors also include 18 grandchildren, Chris (LeAnn), Brandy (Shane), Lisa (John), Shane (Lindee), Marcus, Hunter, Jillian, Kala (Shawn), Sean, Skyler (Richard), Haley, Morgan (Ben), Brianna, Taylor (Coulter) Braden, Teigan, Jacobbie and Kegan; 14 great-grandchildren, Casey, Natalia, Cooper, Jacob, Jordan, Jenna, Emerson, Braelee, Landyn, Reese, Zander, Easton, Baylor and Ruger; nieces, Julie (Tom), Lisa (Jerry), Christy (Tom), Megan and Genny (Jay); nephews, Barrett (Susie), Casey (Ashlie) and Derek (Cindi); many great-nephews and great-nieces including, Cheyenne, and her mother, Tami, and Maggie; and other family members.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Virginia; brother-in-law, Richard Hanson; mother-in-law, Charlotte Woodall; and father-in-law, Lon Clark.
Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with George Cheek officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
