Lilly May Epke, age 82 of North Platte, passed away Friday July 15, 2016 at Centennial Park Retirement Home. Cremation was chosen and services will be held at a later date. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lonnie McDonald 67, of Englewood, FL passed away at his residence July 1, 2016. Lonnie previously resided in North Platte, NE area for 40 years. Lonnie worked in law enforcement in Lincoln and Dawson counties for 39 years before retiring in 2013. During Lonnie’s law enforcement career he especially enjoyed his work as an investigator, and enjoyed his job every day. He spoke highly of his superiors and his colleagues, often saying they were his “family” he saw every day. Lonnie had a passion for fishing, golfing and hunting. He also enjoyed the challenge of renovating homes he had purchased. His one dream was to see a Masters Tournament in person. He fulfilled those dreams in 2014 and again in 2015, this time attending with his nephew, Kelly Hammer. Lonnie was born July 30, 1948 to Franklln H and Loretta E (Johnson) McDonald. He was raised in the Laurel area until his graduation in 1966. He graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at Grand Island, NE in 1976.
Lonnie is survived by his three daughters; Shawn (Lockwood) Meier of Brandon, MN; Erin (Lockwood) Okerlund and husband Skip, also of Brandon, MN; Amy ( McDonald) -Longmore of Kearney, NE; and one son, Joshua McDonald of Cozad, NE; and 12 grandchildren; his sister Lynette “Nettie”( McDonald ) Hammer of Coleridge, NE; nephew Kelly Hammer also of Coleridge, NE; and nieces Angela (Hammer) Johnson and husband Chris, of Hartington, NE; Cheri (McDonald) Polenske and husband Stan, of Waverly, NE; and Cristy (McDonald) Jorgensen and husband Jason, of Wayne, NE; brother-in-law Roger Hammer and sister-in-law Karen McDonald both of Wayne, NE. Several great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins.
Lonnie is proceeded in death by his parents in 1988 and 1989; and brother, LaVerle (Curly) McDonald in 2005. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, July 22, 2016 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel . Evelyn G. “Ralph” Campbell

Evelyn G. “Ralph” Campbell, 89, of Springfield, MO formerly of North Platte passed away July 6, 2016 in Springfield. She was born May 12, 1927 in Healing Springs, Arkansas to Jay Hugh Buck and Sallie Ann (Morgan) Shook.
The family moved to Iowa where Evelyn attended school. She worked in banking for a while, and was the chief operator in North Platte for the Bell Telephone Company. She met Alvin W. Campbell and the two were united in marriage November 3, 1968 in Omaha, NE. The couple lived in North Platte, Omaha, Pocatello, ID, and Salt Lake City, UT, retired to Sun City, AZ, then to Rogues, AR, and finally Springfield, MO.
Ralph volunteered at hospitals in the cities where she lived. She played the organ, sang, and was a good yodeler. She enjoyed singing at rodeos with her sister, had a great sense of humor, and was lots of fun.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Campbell of Springfield, MO; children, Kevin (Maggie) Summers of Omaha, NE, Kathy (Dave) Perry of Essex, IA, and Tom (Joyce) Campbell of Ridgedale, MO; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved pet, Meko.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a grandson, Alex Pacheco; and her siblings, Theodore, George, Hugh, and Audrey.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with the Reverend Tim Eighmy officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Ricky Jay Beed

Ricky Jay Beed, age 47, of North Platte, NE, went to Heaven on Friday, July 1, 2016, in Denver, CO.

Ricky was born October 17, 1968, to Richard Everet and Donneita Kay (Dimmitt) Beed in North Platte where he grew up. Ricky attended North Platte High School and worked at Whitaker’s Furniture with his dad. He later moved to Alda, NE where he worked with his uncle. Ricky loved his kids, music and drawing.

He is survived by his dad, Richard Beed, sister, Tammy (Rick) Fletcher, and children, Elizabeth (Corey) Hoskins, Jessy and Tyler Daigger, all of North Platte, and Charlotte (Jesse) Hazen, of Wellfleet, NE; three grandchildren, Nakita, Kami and Jesse, Jr.; two nieces; a nephew; and other family and his friends.

Ricky was preceded in death by his momma; maternal and paternal grandparents; and aunts and uncles.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.

Robert L. Flint, 74 of Arnold passed away Sunday, July 10 at his home in Arnold.
Services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016, 10:30am at 1st Baptist Church in Arnold. Inturment will be in Arnold Cemetary.

Raymond L. “Ray” Smith

Raymond L. “Ray” Smith, age 76 of North Platte, passed away July 7, 2016 at Centennial Park Retirement Village following a courageous battle with cancer.
Ray was born in Paxton, NE on July 18, 1939 to Raymond and Agnes (Sedlacek) Smith. He later made his home in North Platte where he married Sharon Fisher. To this union was born two sons and four daughters. On May 27, 1978 he married the love of his life, Joan Larsen-Knox. He made his living throughout the years as a mechanic, roofer, road worker, and heating and air conditioning sheet metal worker. In his early years he spent his time hunting, fishing, and camping with his friends and family.
Ray is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joan, of North Platte; sons, Jim (Lori) Smith, Ted Knox (Dee); daughters, Karen (Ron) Hepler, Judy (Tom) Hanna, Chris Gifford, and Jackie (Jeff) Kelley; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Coleen Savage, Merril Smith, Anita Brooks, and Donald (Velma) Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; his infant son Raymond; and granddaughter Melissa Diehl.

Terry Ann Trego

Terry Ann Trego departed this life on July 6, 2016 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.
Terry was born on August 28, 1938 in Gothenburg, Nebraska. In 1956 Terry graduated from Brady High School as the Valedictorian and then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Education and a minor in English from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1960.
Born with “perfect pitch” and an innate talent for music, Terry performed on the piano and sang from an early age. Reading and composing music came easily for Terry and she won numerous awards for music excellence, including superior marks at District All State Music competitions.
In addition to possessing a gift for music, Terry was an avid reader and an intellect. Upon entering college, Terry received the coveted Board of Regents Scholarship to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1956.
In 1960 Terry married Gary and they lived on the Trego Ranch until 1970. Together they had two children, daughter Traci and son Casey. Terry and Gary were married for over 55 years and lived what many called a storybook love affair. Terry was always ambitious and very busy – teaching music and English at Sutherland High School and then Madison Junior High School until 1970.
From the ranch, Terry and Gary then started Trego Aviation in 1963 and Terry helped to build the company for more than 50 years. Terry’s dedication to her family and the business has been the bedrock upon which the company has been built.
Terry is survived by: Husband Gary Trego; Daughter, Traci Trego Dugan (Vincent), Grandson, Matthew Case Dugan, Granddaughter, Mia Mackenzie Dugan. Son, Casey G. Trego (Marcia), Grandson Chase Shelton Trego, Grandson Carson Stone Trego. Sister, Allegra Penington (Chuck), Niece, Ashley Tartier (Andre), Nephew Logan Penington. Brother, Malcolm Smith (Cindy), Nephew George Smith (Kim), Niece Elizabeth Berkland (Justin) Niece Sarah Bryant (Eric) Nephew Chester Smith (Andra).
The family will miss Terry. She was a rock. May she rest in peace.

James LeRoy Anderson

james-andersonJames LeRoy Anderson, 65, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 29th with his family at his side. He was a loving husband of 43 years to Patricia Mary Anderson. James was born in Alliance, Nebraska on March 7th, 1951 to Albert and Frances Anderson.

Jim was a USAF veteran. After leaving the service, he worked for AAA of Nebraska and Maryland. He graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and worked as a Software Engineer for Bendix Field Engineering, TRW, AT&T and SAIC. While stationed overseas, he enjoyed traveling around Europe with his wife and daughter. He was an avid reader of military history and enjoyed touring Civil War battlefields. He loved playing Chess, Flight Simulator and Strategic Simulations gaming, and spending quiet times at home with his family.

James is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Michelle Lee Anderson and grandson Joshua James Anderson of Mechanicsville, MD; sister Gladys McCalla of Ogallala, Nebraska; his nieces Anna Parks of North Platte, Nebraska, Aimee Barnett of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Allison Tippett of Ridge, MD; stepmother Gwen Anderson of Ogallala, Nebraska; sister-in-law Ann Tippett of Park Hall, MD; brother-in-law Oliver Tippett and sister-in-law Terri Tippett of Ridge, MD.

Leonard E. Geyer

leonard-geyerLeonard E. Geyer, 83, of Maxwell, passed away July 2, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Cozad where he has resided the past 8 years. He was born Nov. 4, 1932, to Roy and Meda (Reynolds) Geyer at Maxwell.

Leonard attended school at Maxwell Public Schools and was raised north of Maxwell on the family farm.  His father passed away when he was 13 years old where he continued to help maintain the farm.  After Leonard lost his father music became a very important part of his life. Leonard loved to play musical instruments, self -taught.  Leonard made sure his whole family learned how to play an instrument. He could fix anything with duct tape, a pair of pantyhose and some spit and get it to last the season. He never met a stranger, would stop and help, fix them a meal, attempt to fix their problem, and give them money and send them on their way. He was always telling jokes and playing tricks on people.

Leonard served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.  On May 20, 1958, he was united in marriage to Shirley Miller at Maxwell. In 1964, Leonard hired on to the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman/brakeman until 1980.  He continued to farm and custom haying.

He is survived by two daughters, Marcia (Jody)  Strasburg of Arnold and Roxanne (Jim) Cook of Katy, TX; sister, Irene Bates of TX; sister-in-law, Cleo Geyer of CA; five grandchildren, Joshua (Annah) Geyer, Garrett Harbert, Mariah (Dalton Riedel) Strasburg, Breyden Geyer, and Michael Strasburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eugene Geyer; two brothers, Vernon and Harold Geyer; an infant son, Jeffrey; and a grandson, Eric Strasburg. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.  Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas A Delp officiating at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.  Burial will be at the McCain Cemetery southeast of Stapleton.  Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
