Marion “Everett” Price
Marion “Everett” also called M.E. Price, age 92, joined his beloved wife, Loretta, to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 7, 2016.
Everett, as his family called him, was born February 7, 1924 in Oakley, Kansas to Effie Mae (Butz) and Marion Everett Price Sr. He married Loretta Rosa Gunter June 22, 1947. After an opportunity with The Union Pacific Railroad, the young couple settled in North Platte with their young son and soon after a daughter, completing their happy family. Everett loved the railroad and devoted his entire career till his retirement. Everett was also active right from the beginning, carrying on his Boy Scout years by serving with the council. In fact, he achieved the rare honor of being awarded the “Silver Beaver” and the “George Meany Award” which culminated years of distinguished service to youth. Not allowing that to be his only accomplishment, he was in the Army, active and mostly reservist for 27 years and there too, retired. Another rare feat. Everett was a life-long kid, forever playing with trains (the big kind), training as a citizen soldier and being a perpetual Boy Scout.
If that was not enough, Everett’s generosity led him to many other organizations, like the Rotary Club, Odd Fellows, Retired Senior Volunteer Program “RSVP” and a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, just to name a few.
A truer, more honest man would be hard to find and here in North Platte we are privileged to have known such a remarkable soul.
Everett is survived by his children Wayne (Michele) Price of Palmer, Alaska and Janice (Darrell) Hirsch of Arvada, Colorado; 5 grandchildren Julie (Jason) Blankenship, Angela Tucker, Marty (Jennifer) Price, Jeremy (Erin) Hirsch, Jaime (Michael) Greene; and 10 great grandchildren, Alex, Rindy, Anita, Boston, Andrew, Ian, Elayne, Alyson, Adelyn, and Jude.
He was preceded in death by his lifetime partner and wife Loretta; his parents; and a brother.
Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 11, 2016 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Doug Delp officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 6:00 p. m. with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
