Meda Jean “Erma” Freeze, age 89, of North Platte, was promoted to glory on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Great Plains Health. She was born September 22, 1926 at Chadron, NE to Leonard C. and Flora F. (Staggs) Walker and later adopted by William and Inez Elizabeth (Thurlway) Knill. On March 14, 1945 she was united in marriage to Robert “Bud” Freeze in Oberlin, KS. They made their home in North Platte where they owned and operated a bait shop, now known as Freeze Bait and Tackle. Erma cherished her faith and especially her family. Her family includes her children; Bob (Sheila) Freeze, Pauline (Bill) Titus, Mary (Larry) Stoddard, Nancy (Clayton, Jr.) Hydo, and Bill Freeze, brother; Robert (Beverly) Walker, fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, special nephew; Larry (Sharon) Freeze, and other relatives. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, and three sisters. Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, at the Salvation Army with the Majors Charles and Lila Lieurance officiating. Hazel”Lisa”Wing,65,loving sister,mother,friend,spouse and grandmother passed away peacefully with family by her side,Feb.25th, 2016 at Methodist Hospital Omaha Hazel was born Sept.28th,1950 in North Platte,Ne. to Clayton and Lucille(Johnson)Britton. At a young age
she had rheumatic fever, yet overcame the disease. She was educated in North Platte graduating in 1968. Hazel was a very accomplished piano and violin musician. She worked at the North Platte Café where she met her future husband Charles Wing. Together they moved to Lincoln to attend the University of Nebraska. Hazel was married to Charles Jan.7th,1972 and to their union was born their daughter Tawn. They moved to Omaha to make their home there. Hazel was a caring, kind individual that would share her last quarter with you if needed and gave to many charities. She enjoyed gardening, lover of the Arts and a free spirit. She worked with the American Cancer Society, the Omaha Symphony Christmastime Orchestra and most recently retiring from First Data Omaha. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Charles. Delores ‘Dee’ Jane (Steele) Krebs
Delores “Dee” Jane (Steele) Krebs, 86, of North Platte passed away February 23, 2016 at her home. Dee was born April 6, 1929 in Kearney, Nebraska to Richard and Mabel (Alm) Steele.
Dee attended the Omaha Technical High School, graduating with the class of 1949. On July 29, 1950 in Omaha she married Robert (Bob) F. Krebs. The two recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Dee was a full time dedicated wife and mother, and was involved and supported all her families’ many activities. She was a member of the UPRR Old Timers, North Platte Senior Center, and a Canasta club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needle/petite point tapestry and was a talented painter. Dee was most known for her seamstress abilities, and created and designed beautiful porcelain dolls and their costumes.
Survivors include her son Jack (Glenda) Krebs of North Platte; daughters, Carolyn (Terry) Osborne of Sutherland, Diane (John) Lemen of Omaha, and foster daughter, Robin Grant of North Platte; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Eklund of North Platte; and a sister-in-law, Mary Krebs of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert (Bob) Krebs; and a brother-in-law, Charles Walter Krebs.

Michelle Lynn Hunter
Michelle Lynn Hunter, age 21, of Dothan, Alabama, died as the result of an accident in Alabama on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
Michelle was born April 14, 1994, at Birmingham, AL. She is the daughter of Chad Eric and Heather Lynn Booker Farmer. Michelle spent most of her life in Alabama but graduated from Stapleton High School in 2013. She then moved to Dothan to live and work and wanted to someday go to college and become a nurse.
Michelle loved getting dirty and being outdoors, going hunting, 4-wheeling and mudding. She also enjoyed listening to music, “Butterfly, Fly Away” was one of her favorite songs. Michelle especially loved her friends and would help anyone in need.
She leaves behind her parents, Chad and Heather Farmer, of Stapleton, NE; three brothers, Ethan Koinzan, of Broken Bow, NE, David Booker, of McCook, NE, and Joshua Hernandez, of Stapleton; sister, Tasha Lynn Booker, and nephew, Cash Booker, both of McCook, NE; great-grandfather, Kermit Paxton, of North Platte, NE; grandparents, Adelbert ‘Tuck’ and Joan Farmer, of Stapleton and Janice Vansant and Steve Boyd, both of Rome, GA; aunts and uncles, Misty (Kenneth) Gravitt and Barbie Boyd, both of Rome, GA, Theresa Farmer, of Tryon and Joshua (Leah) Shelly, of St. Augustine, FL; great-aunts and uncles, Gary (June) Farmer, of North Platte, Anna Mae (Lester) Wycoff, of Barron, WI, and Jim (Bonnita) Paxton, of Hillsdale, WI, LeeAnn Paxton, of Thedford, NE, and Dale (Colleen) Pettit, of Tryon, NE; and many other family members and her friends.
Michelle was preceded in death by her great great-grandparents, Joseph and Rachel Mize; great-grandparents, Eldon and Mary Farmer; and grandfather, Bobby Joe Mize.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at Hall Church in Ringgold with Pastor Jonathan Martino officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Star Cemetery, north of Ringgold. Richard Maurice Kurtz
Richard Maurice Kurtz, 86, of Akron, Ohio passed away February 13, 2016 in Medford, Oregon. He was born on July 5, 1929 to John and Garnet (Sullivan) Kurtz.
Upon graduation from high school in 1946 he joined the armed service in which he played the French horn for the marching band. After being honorably discharged from the Army he attended Finn College located in Cleveland, Ohio. After 2 years of attendance at Finn College he enrolled at Life Bible College of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Los Angeles, CA in 1950. It is there that he met his wife Bernadine Hewitt and the two were married on September 6, 1953. Upon ordination he was appointed to be the assistant pastor of the North Platte, Nebraska Foursquare Gospel Church under the ministry of Pastor Clyde Greisen where he served until he was appointed pastor to the Tallmadge, Ohio Foursquare Gospel Church in 1955.
Richard was employed by General Tire of Akron, Ohio in 1958 where he worked steadily until his retirement in 1991.
Richard and Bernadine were blessed by two daughters, Judge Joyce (Judge James) Kimbler, and school teacher, JoAnn (Reverend Bob) Hoffman. They have three granddaughters, Brianna Laybourn, Johanna (Ethan) Smith, and Joyanna Hoffman; grandson, Brannon Laybourn; two great-grandchildren, Robert and Willow-Mae Smith. Richard enjoyed the company of Tom and David Perkins and Tammy White during the years that they spent together. Richard’s siblings are brothers, Gene (Donna) Kurtz, and Kenneth (Nancy) Kurtz; sisters, Thelma (Bob) Thoburn, and Janice (Herschel) Hatley. Richard will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.

James “Jimbo” R. Lyons
James “Jimbo” R. Lyons, 54, of North Platte, passed away Feb. 22, 2016 at Great Plains Health. He was born Feb. 23, 1961 to Wilford A. and Roberta (Garrard) Lyons, Jr in Alliance, NE. Jimbo graduated from Papillion High School in Omaha and went on to serve in the United States Army. After his service he worked as a self-employed carpenter in the North Platte area. He is survived by his father, Bill Lyons of Denver, his siblings Brian (Peggy) Bayne of North Platte, Tina Lyons of Shreveport, LA and Kathy Lyons of Post Falls, ID; uncles, Randy and Jim Copley; aunts, Marilyn (Ed) Maginnis of Grand Island, NE and Joyce (Gordon) Koch of Grand Junction, CO; nephews and niece, Trevor and Bobbi Jo of North Platte and Brain and Cody of Simi Valley, CA; two half-sisters, Melanie and Dawn Lyons; and a step sister, Lina (Mark) Hauser. Korbyn Henry Mercer
Korbyn Henry Mercer was welcomed into Heaven and became one of God’s littlest angels when he was born asleep on Friday, February 19, 2016. Our beautiful little boy was 19 inches long and weighed 4 pounds, 7 ounces.
Korbyn will forever be in the hearts of his parents and family. He is loved and will be missed by his parents, Anthony ‘Tony’ Jay and Lindsey Dawn Roberts Mercer, and grandparents, Hank and Kellie Mercer and Loren and Brenda Roberts, all of North Platte; great-grandma, Jan Roberts, and great great-grandma, Thelma Gibb, both of Holdrege, NE; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family.
Korbyn was joined in Heaven by his uncle, Cortney Mercer; great-grandparents, Minor and Pat Lyne and Dave and Wilma Jean Rosencrants; and great-grandpa, Loren L. Roberts.
Cremation was chosen. A Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor David Holland officiating. Gordon Charles ‘Gordy’ Moore
Gordon Charles ‘Gordy’ Moore, age 74, formerly of North Platte, NE, passed away at his home in Lincoln, NE, on Thursday, February 11, 2016.
Gordy was born April 16, 1941 to Paul V. and Mary Louise Copley Moore at Culbertson, NE where he grew up. Gordy graduated from Culbertson High School in 1958 then joined the U.S. Navy.
After serving 4 years and 3 days in the military, Gordy was honorably discharged. He then returned to Nebraska and trained to become a Journeyman Bricklayer.
On December 24, 1966, Gordy married Joyce Ann Huffman in North Platte where they made their home and raised three children. Gordy worked as a bricklayer most of his life and took great pride in his work. He also worked at the U.S. Post Office later in life for 18 years, until he retired in 2012. Even as he worked at the Post Office, he continued his passion of bricklaying when his skills were needed.
After living in North Platte for 40 years, he and Joyce moved to Lincoln in 2015 to be closer to their children. Gordy liked pitching horseshoes, golfing, watching sports and old westerns, relaxing at home, and spending time with close friends and family.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1504, P.R. Halligan Post #163 American Legion, Eagles Aeries #2839 and B.P.O. Elks #958.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Lincoln; their children, Brett Moore, of Nebraska, Shannon Moore of Lincoln, NE, and Danielle (Shane) Gibson, of Overland Park, KS; two granddaughters, Grace and Trinity Moore; two brothers, Roger (Mina) Moore, of California, and Michael (Suzanne) Moore, of Oregon; his sister, Sandra Teel, of Oregon; a niece, Colleen Paine (Andy) Ivazes; four nephews, Kevin (Rachel) Moore, Jeff (Lisa) Teel, Justin Moore and Keenan Moore; and other family.
Gordy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary; and a niece, Robin Moore.

Dean E. Ward
Dean E. Ward, age 79 of North Platte passed away at his home on Friday February 19, 2016.
Dean was born on March 10, 1936 in North Platte to Albert E. and Elizabeth E. (Vaughn) Ward. He lived in North Platte his entire life, graduating from North Platte High School with the Class of 1955. As a boy he had a paper route for many years and to this day knows who lived in each house. He also worked at both movie theaters and Sixth Street Food Store. On September 1, 1958 he married Glynn Hahn at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Paxton, NE. They were married for 57 years. Dean retired from Sixth Street Food Stores in 2000 after being with the company for 49 years. He was a member of RSVP and Holy Spirit Catholic Church and after his retirement enjoyed volunteering with the Holy Spirit & St. Patrick’s Food Pantry.
Dean is survived by his wife Glynn; children Kif P. (Cindy) Ward of Libertyville, IL, Jan E. (Thomas) Simpson of Omaha, NE, and Jill M. (Stephen) Granger of North Platte; 7 grandchildren, Katharine Ward, TJ, McKenna and Hope Simpson, and Macy, Jacob and Ellie Granger; 2 sisters Lola Koehler of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dona Godeker of North Platte; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Willard, Albert, Robert, Donn, Lawrence; and sisters Grace, Alona, Louise, Helen, Delores and Carole.
