Katherine “Kathy” Diane Lierley, age 69 of Paxton, passed away Thursday January 21, 2016 in Omaha at the Creighton Medical Center.
Kathy was born on December 31, 1946 in Denver, CO to Ernest and Virginia (Rummerfield) McClure. As a youth she was a very active member of the Calvary Temple Church and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1965. In 1971 Kathy met Ken Lierley in Paxton and the couple was married on January 22, 1972 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Most of her early married life she spent as a homemaker, taking care of her family. During this time she continued to be active in the church by teaching Sunday School, leading the youth of the church and sponsoring various youth group trips. Once her kids were close to being their own adults, she decided that she needed something else to do and began a career as a nursing aide at Indian Hills Manor from 1990 to 1994. In 1994 she decided that she really liked nursing and chose to earn her LPN degree from Mid Plains Community College and graduated in 1996. She spent the next 10 years as an LPN, during which time she worked for Ogallala Community Hospital and Indian Hills Manor. She also taught CNA classes during this time. During her life she was part of many Christian groups including Aglow, Christian Women’s Club, and numerous bible studies. She was a charter member of the Paxton Newlife Lutheran Church. Kathy will be remembered for her strong Christian beliefs and for being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Kathy is survived by her husband Ken Lierley of Paxton; children Robert “Rob” (Ruby) Waibel Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Janice “Jan” (Brian) Neilsen of Paxton, Casey (Jocile) Lierley of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren Jordan Waibel, step granddaughter Ashley Meyer, step grandson Aaron Cogan, Justin, Clay and Kyle Neilsen, Gannon and Xander Lierley; 3 great grandchildren; mother Dawn McClure of Denver, CO; siblings Donna (Dean) Allen of Denver, CO, Sharon (Doyle) Shockley of Arvada, CO, Dennis McClure of Buena Vista, CO; brother-in-law Fred Lierley of Paxton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Paxton Newlife Lutheran Church, the NE Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc. or the Donor’s choice. Carl E. “Bud” Deidel
Carl E. “Bud” Deidel, 81, of North Platte, passed away January 17, at Golden Living Center in Cozad. He was born March 6, 1934 to Edgar B. and Violet (Haney) Deidel near Tryon, NE. He moved to North Platte in 1938 and graduated from North Platte High School with the class of “52”. Bud joined the United States Army and served from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1956. Bud lived in Chula Vista, CA and worked for Rohr Aircraft from 1956 to 1962. He then moved to Englewood, CO and worked for Verticel Honeycomb from 1962 to 1972, then returning to North Platte. He was employed by Nosky & Nosky Engineering as a surveyor’s helper and he also helped care for his mother. He is survived by his sister, Audrey Deidel of North Platte; nephews, Ronald (Carolyn) Deidel, James (Ann) Deidel and Michael (Sandy) Deidel; a niece, Linda Jepsen; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne and Harry Deidel; sisters-in-law, Jeane and Ruby Deidel; and a niece, Barbara Cassell. James Allen Kruback
James Allen Kruback, 71, of North Platte passed away January 18, 2016 in North Platte. He was born in Oxford, Nebraska on April 19, 1944 to Ralph and Merna (Dawson) Kruback. He graduated from Bertrand High School in 1963 then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964-1968 on USS Coral Sea. Shortly before being discharged he married Sandra Smith on April 18, 1968 in San Jose, CA. The couple lived in Toledo, Ohio where he attended meat cutting school, then moved to Curtis where Jim worked in a grocery store. They later move to North Platte where Jim hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad. After 3 years they moved to Hershey where they raised their family, moving back to North Platte in 1993.
The center of Jim’s life was his family, watching his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Delores) Kruback.

Harold D. “Hal” VonBehren
Harold D. “Hal” VonBehren, age 65, of North Platte, died January 18, 2016 at Centennial Park. He was born on March 25, 1950 in North Platte to Harold H. and Annette (Razes) VonBehren.
Hal graduated from North Platte High School in 1968. He hired on to the UPRR as a Brakeman/ Conductor, working for 34 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed refurbishing old cars, watching western movies, Husker football and NASCAR. He loved his dog Nikki.
Survivors include his children, Scott VonBehren of Lincoln, Greg (Heather) VonBehren of Rockville, MD, Heidi (Dan) Ertz of Omaha, and Brooke (Justin) Janas of North Platte; a brother, Ron (Una) VonBehren of Grand Island; a sister, Georgina (Dave) Geise of Lincoln; grandchildren, Josh Ertz, Kaeleigh Ertz, Alex VonBehren, Tate Janas, Ella Janas, and Jacoby Janas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Isabelle M. “Mary” Chada
Isabelle M. “Mary” Chada, 82, of North Platte, passed away Jan. 16, 2016 at her daughters’ home. She was born July 25, 1933 to Joseph Dewey and Amy Mabel (Trollope) Leach near Loomis in Phelps County. Mary was raised on a farm in Phelps County. She was united in marriage to Basel Chada, he passed away in 2000. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary loved fishing and camping. She is survived by her two daughters, Teresa Haddan and Amy Norrie; two sisters, Dorothy Bachman and Elta Kern; one brother, Ervin Leach; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Roger Thomas, Tommy Chada and Roy Curtis Thomas; siblings, Paige Leach, Fern Conant, Lloyd Leach, Harold Leach and Charles Leach. Stanley Dale Murphy
Stanley Dale Murphy age 62, of Wellfleet, NE passed away January 14, 2016 following a battle with cancer at the VA Hospital in Omaha, NE. Stan was born September 12, 1953 in Holdrege, NE to Charles and Gwendol (Holtz) Murphy. He spent his childhood years in Harris, IA, Ragan, NE and McDonald, KS. The family finally settled in Wray, CO. He proudly served our country in the Air Force from 1972 to 1976. He was stationed at Rantoul Air Force Base in Illinois and Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, SD. He served as a Missile System Analyst Specialist. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant from the Air Force in 1976.
In 1972, Stan married Rhonda Barker in Wray, CO. To this union, 3 daughters were born, Dawn, Dana and Laura. Stan married Becky DeVries in 1984 in Wray, CO. With this union, Stan added two step-children to his family, Krista and Aaron.
On September 6, 2003, Stan married Jo Lewis. They were married at the Maloney Lake Inlet in Lincoln County, Nebraska. With this union, he added 3 step-children to his family, Toni, Stephen and Christi. Stan and Jo made their home together on acreage outside of Wellfleet, NE. Here they improved the property by adding a barn and shop all made with Stan’s craftsmanship and love. There, with their favorite four legged “kid,” Corky, they lived and loved each other greatly. Stan held memberships with the North Platte Eagle’s Club and the American Legion of Kearney, NE.
Stan worked many jobs in his life including Corn INC., 1256 Cattle Company, JW Operating, and truck driving for several over the road hauling companies. His most treasured time was spent outdoors woodworking, hunting, fishing and boating. Stan was truly blessed and excited when his outdoor adventures included his grandchildren. He treasured having the opportunity to teach them how to fish, ski and drive a boat. He prided himself on the ability to see how quickly he could toss his grandkids out of the inner tube while pulling the tube behind his boat.
Stan is survived by his wife Jo and canine companion Corky of Wellfleet, NE; children, Dawn (Luis) Ramos of McGregor, TX, Dana (Frank) Miller of Valentine, NE, Laura (Brandon) Schoenthal of Wray, CO, Toni (R.J.) Hazen of Estherville, IA, Stephen (Leann) of McCallsburg, IA and Christi (Christian) Hazen of Estherville, IA; 15 grandchildren, Alex, Michael, Nathan, KayLynn, Cody, Casey, Audrey, Bryant, Alivia, Kaylee, Taylor, Karmen, Devon, Ember, and Kadence; brother, Steve (Kelly) Murphy; sister, Barb (Dick) Dodson; as well as many other family and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck and Gwen Murphy; infant son Ryan Dale; and infant grandchildren Ryan, Cooper and Cole.

Glenda Marie Spies
Glenda Marie Spies, 90 years young of North Platte, passed away Thursday January 14, 2016 at Great Plains Health.
Glenda was born on November 8, 1925 in Ainsworth, NE to Chester and Iva (McKim) McConnell. She was united in marriage to Carl E. Spies on June 12, 1963. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and helping hand to everyone. She was very proud of the fact that she was a two-time cancer survivor. Glenda is one of ten children in the McConnell family and will certainly be missed by friends and family.
Glenda is survived by daughters Janet (Larry) McNeel of Lincoln, NE and Katherine (Vernon) Counts of Cozad, NE; step daughters Teresa Furden of Bangor, ME, Barbara (Doug) Kloepping of Lexington, NE and Peggy (Jerry) Funk of Ainsworth, NE; grandchildren Julie (Paul) Pack of Lexington, NE, Joel (Alisha) Engle of Kansas City, MO, Tonya (Curtis) Bruha of St. Paul, NE, Tammy Counts of Wichita, KS; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl in 2009; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
