Beulah Marie Wever, age 87 of Sutherland passed away September 23, 2015 at the Sutherland Care Center.
Beulah was born January 11, 1928 in Sutherland to Walter and Hazel (Stanton) Coker. She grew up and attended school in Sutherland, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1946. On March 16, 1946 she married Floyd E. Wever in Sutherland. The couple lived at O’Fallons before moving to the original Coker homestead, where they farmed and operated a dairy. The two owned and operated Sutherland Laundry, a commercial laundry for 5 years before selling. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sutherland and Union Pacific Railroad Oldtimers, being a past president. She enjoyed playing in her card club, playing on her computer, playing games, visiting people, gambling and entertaining. She was always helping kids who needed it, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Beulah is survived by her husband, Floyd of Sutherland; children, Diana (Larry) Reitz of Paxton, Susie (Don) Swain of Yuma, AZ, and William “Bill” (Kristi) Wever of Sutherland; grandchildren, Sarah (Adam) Hauser-Hickman of Allen, TX, Donnell Hauser of Allen, TX, Wade (Jaime) Reitz of Lincoln, Aaron Reitz of Kearney, Dena (Brandon Corder) Wever of Omaha, and Derek (Steph) Wever of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Markie, Charlie, Joe, Tucker, McKinley, Avery, and Landon; step-grandchildren, Mackenzie Penner of Kearney and Logan Penner of North Platte; brother, Wallace Coker of Cheyenne, WY; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Ruth Banks and Kenny Coker.

Kenneth S. Wurl, 87, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Kenneth was born on December 19, 1927 to Otto and Bertha Wurl in Elm Creek, NE. His family moved to Brady Island. He attended a county school and then went to Maxwell School where he graduated in 1945.
Kenneth began working in the Car Department of the Union Pacific Railroad in 1945. He continued working for 42 years. He retired as a General Car Foreman on December 31, 1987.
On July 17, 1949 Kenneth married his loving wife Lola Binegar. The couple lived in North Platte where they raised their 3 daughters in North Platte. They were united in marriage for 65 years until Lola’s passing.
Kenneth loved his family and would do anything in the world for them. He was known as a hard-working, honest, fair man on the railroad. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He enjoyed walking at the Mall and then going for coffee with his buddies. He will be greatly missed.
Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Gary) Yanken of North Platte, Cathy (Larry) Lausten of Austin, TX, and Tammy (Lance) Michaels of North Platte; Brother; Gene (Bonnie) Wurl of North Platte; His grandchildren and great grandchildren, Scott Von Behren of Lincoln, NE, Greg (Heather) and Alex Von Behren of Rockville, MD, Heidi (Dan), Josh, and Kaeleigh Ertz of Omaha, NE, Sunnie (Jason), Evyn and Gavin Fox of Austin, TX, Brooke (Justin), Tate, Ella, and Jacoby Janas of North Platte, Shelly (Eric), Brylie, and Kylan Wiedel of Austin, TX, Setera (E.J.) Gannon and Kenzie Michaels of Omaha, NE, Shay Doyle and Karli Lausten of Austin, TX, Jaedyn Michaels of North Platte, NE, Jacob and Morgan Lausten of Lincoln, NE; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

James Davis “J. D.” Campbell, 91, of North Platte, passed away September 19, 2015 in North Platte. He was born September 30, 1923 to Jesse and Nora Belle (Hardwick) Campbell at Mullen. J.D. graduated from Mullen High School with the class of “41”. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. During that time he served overseas in the Pacific Theater of War and was stationed at Mid-Way Island and Camp LeJune in North Carolina. On October 30, 1946, he was united in marriage to Valera M. Jess in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island until 1973, when they moved to North Platte. James was employed as a brakeman in 1950 to the Union Pacific Railroad and retired as a conductor in 1985. He is survived by his five sons, Larry (Clista) of Grand Island, Dennis (Susan) of Lodi, CA, Terry of North Platte, Roger (Cindy) of Kearney and Kevin (fiancé Annette) of North Platte; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Valera; four brothers, Montabille, Francis, Elwyn and Burl; and four sisters, Jesse Belle, Ava, Joyce and Beverly. Wes “Jake” Jacobson, 85, passed away September 22, 2015 at home in North Platte, NE.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Byron, Gordon, and Don; and sisters, Lucille and Phyllis. Wes is survived by his wife, Lareen; sons, Jon, of North Platte, Tom and his wife, Ann, of North Platte, Dan and his wife, Stephanie, of Overland Park, KS, Doug and his wife, Joan, of Meridian, ID; 11 grand-children; sister-in-law, Delores Peckman of North Platte and many nieces and nephews.
Wes was born on January 28, 1930, the 6th child to Clarence and Myrtle (Rish) Jacobson in St. Paul, NE. He graduated from St. Paul High School in 1947. That same year, he met his sweetheart, Lareen Wiest, at the Loup City County Fair. Wes then served in the U.S. Army from July 20, 1951 to June 30, 1953. He attended basic and advanced training at Fort Monmouth, NJ and Fort Gordon, GA respectively. Following training, he was assigned as a Signal Corps specialist with the 17th Signal Operations Battalion in Pirmasens, Germany with temporary duty in Angevillers, France (near Metz) for the remainder of his overseas tour. Upon his return, he married Lareen on July 25, 1953 in Kearney, NE at St. James Catholic Church.
They started their married life in Kearney while Wes commuted to Holdrege with AT&T. They moved to North Platte and lived here for about 5 years until Wes was transferred to McCook. They also lived in Ogallala before moving back to North Platte in 1972 with their four sons. By this time, Wes was working for Northwestern Bell/US West. He retired in 1991 after 38 years in the telecom industry.
Wes was well known to help out others in need, as well as do odd jobs that needed to be done around his church. He assisted with bingo at the Catholic Church for many years and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed his time as an avid gardener and helped Lareen can hundreds of pints of vegetables. In fact, he often came home with bushels of fruits or vegetables to surprise Lareen with a new canning project. In the midst of this, he was able to own and run rental properties. He was also an enthusiastic fan of Big Red Husker football and rarely missed watching or listening to a game. Wes never knew a stranger.

Sheila L. Hughbanks, 65, of Greeley, CO, formerly of North Platte, passed away September 17, 2015 at The University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO. She was born July 7, 1950 to Don and Betty (Drake) Speck in North Platte. Sheila grew up in numerous areas of Nebraska and Colorado, graduating from North Platte High School in 1968. She also graduated from Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff. She was united in marriage to Richard Hughbanks on June 2, 2002 at Estes Park, CO. Her family was the love of her life. Holidays, birthdays, family get togethers and special occasions were very special to her. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Greeley, CO; her children, Kim Baxter of Gering, Jason (Carma) Lannon of North Platte and Tara N. Joneson of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Warren Lannon, Brandon Baxter and Kaitlin Lannon; brothers, Mike Speck, Dan Speck, Frank Aloi and Nick (Chele) Aloi; sisters, JoAnn Dupre and Linda (Virgil) Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Watkins; her parents, Don and Eleanor Speck; a sister and brother-in-law, SanDee (John) Casey; and a grandson, Alexander Lannon. Frances Catherine (Hayes) Haynes, 83, of North Platte went home to be with her Lord on September 21, 2015.
Frances was born on January 24, 1932 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Frank C. and Neva (Dobyns) Hayes.
Frances lived in the Sandhills of Arthur, NE and attended school in Arthur until she was 13 years old. She then attended High School at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, NE, and graduated in 1949 at the age of 17. She then taught for one year at a country school south of Gothenburg, and then two years at Meadowlawn School west of Lake Maloney. She then ventured out of her comfort zone and went to work in Denver for 4 years as an Accounting clerk for General Electric Supply Company. In 1955 she came home to take care of her mom as her health was failing.
On November 18, 1956 she married Orville D. Haynes. To this union four children were born, Dean, LeAnn, Donna and Karen.
Frances and Orville started out farming northeast of Sutherland, NE and then moved to North Platte in August of 1960. Frances then went to work for Mid-Nebraska Oil Company, and then worked for Hansen, Fuenning, Roggow & Miller as an accounting clerk for 36 years. After retiring, Frances volunteered at Lincoln School and listened to 2nd graders read. She did this until she was no longer able due to her health. Frances loved to read, travel and, of course, shop. She was willing to learn new things and was known to take numerous college classes while working and raising her family.
Frances belonged to the Christian Women’s Club, Berean Birthday Club, Red Hatters, American Legionaire, and American Legion Club in Tryon, NE, and DAV member. She was a regular attendee of Bethel Evangelical Free Church.
Frances was first diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and continued to fight this disease to the very end. We called her the “energizer bunny” and “chemo warrior”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Melvin Hayes; and her father and mother-in-law, Loyd and Ivy Haynes.
Survivors include her husband, Orville of North Platte; daughters, LeAnn (Vincent) Belfire of Buffalo Valley, TN, Donna (Martin) Wullschleger of North Platte, and Karen (Kent) Gutherless of North Platte; son, Dean (Dianne) Haynes of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Julianna (Robert) Poe of Nampa, ID, Stephanie Haynes of Dallas, TX, Danielle Haynes of Olathe, KS, Kristen, Megan & Jared Wullschleger of North Platte, NE; brothers and sister-in-law, Floyd and Cleo Haynes of Callaway, NE, Stanley & Janet Haynes of Saint Cloud, MN, Dallas & Thelma Haynes of Syracuse, NE, Willis & Betty Haynes of Blue Hill, NE, Annette & Sam Roth of Lincoln, NE; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ralph L. Dunham, age 80 of Maxwell, passed away September 15, 2015 at Great Plains Health.
Ralph was born on September 17, 1934 in Denver, CO to Ralph D. and Helenetta Pearl (Boroff) Dunham. He joined the Navy in February of 1952 and served until September of 1955. After his discharge he worked as a mechanic and welder, mostly working on large equipment. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maxwell and enjoyed the outdoors.
Ralph is survived by his wife Wilma; sons Scott (Vickie) Dunham and Matt (Heather) Dunham; daughters Linda (Brent) Bodily and Pam (Jeff) Lebsock; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grand children; and sister Geraldine Buttrum.
He was preceded in death by parents.
