Sherrie M. Harper, 53, of North Platte, passed away May 29, 2015 at her home. She was born Aug. 25, 1961 to Leonard and Luaine (Page) Harper at North Platte. She graduated from North Platte High School with the class of “79”. She then went on to get her Associate of Arts degree at Mid-Plains. Sherrie was employed as a clerk at Nebraska Machinery Shop for over 17 years. She loved gardening, collecting antiques and especially her family. She is survived by her father, Leonard Harper of North Platte; three sons, Rich (Jessica) of North Platte, Shane of Indiana and Will of North Platte; two granddaughters, Alyssa and Maddison Reed; three sisters, Virginia Harper, Carol (Scott) Aldrich and Diane Harper; four brothers, Randy (Annie), Vince (Dianne), Kent (Lindy) and Scott (Kim); a special friend, Jerry Stoddard; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Roger Edward Thalacker
Roger Edward Thalacker, 91, of North Platte, NE, passed away at home on Friday, May 29, 2015.
Roger was born May 6, 1924, to Carl Gustav and Jessie Ann Kruger Thalacker at Mondovi, WI. He graduated from Eau Claire High School then moved to Seattle, WA and went to work in the shipyards until he joined the U.S. Army in 1943. Roger served overseas in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Following his discharge in 1945, Roger returned to Eau Claire and worked for the Martin Motor Division of National Pressure Cooker. On July 3, 1948, Roger married Vesta Marie Bucklew in Eau Claire where they lived for six months before moving to Maxwell, IA. He went to work for Montgomery Ward in Des Moines, IA and later transferred to North Platte where he was manager of the Tire Department. He retired from there in 1986.
Roger had been a member of the First Baptist Church for 52 years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Vesta, of North Platte; three daughters, Joanne (Larry) Jurjens and Brenda (Dale) Oberg, of Farnam, NE, and Lynette (Glen) Waltemath, of North Platte; six grandchildren, David (Raquel) Jurjens, Lisa (Brandon) Shimmin, Cory (Diane) Waltemath, Kevin (Carrie) Waltemath, April (Grant) McCloskey and Heath (Sara) Oberg; 19 great-grandchildren; a great great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Jessie; three sisters, Annabell Peterson, Vera Schoeneck and Lovis Grinder; and a brother, Ron Thalacker.
Funeral service will 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at the First Baptist Church with Pastors David Logsdon and Peter Brick officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Anna May Peters
Anna May Peters, age 92 of North Platte, passed away Wednesday May 27, 2015.
Anna was born on November 8, 1922 in North Platte, NE to Leo Lester and Nora Mae (Andrew) Dale. She grew up in the area and graduated from North Platte High School in 1940. After high school she graduated from college in Bakersfield, CA. She worked at a school for awhile in Bakersfield before joining Kern County, CA Crime Lab, where she worked for many years. On May 27, 1942 she married Lawrence Peters in Pomona, CA. Lawrence passed away February 6, 1998. Anna will be remembered as an excellent cook and wonderful person who was always positive towards others.
Anna is survived by her sisters Lela (Grant) Remus of North Platte and Marlene Piernicki of Holdrege; sisters-in-law Polly Dale of Loveland, CO and Toni Dale of North Platte; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence; brothers Lester, Harold and Richard; and sister Ruth Stout.

Robert Attwood Brannan
Robert Attwood Brannan, 87, of North Platte, NE, passed away at a hospital in Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
Robert was born at the Brannan family home at 1415 West Sixth in North Platte on October 28, 1927, to Virgil and Garnette (Haskins) Brannan. He grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School with the Class of 1945.
Robert married Helen Lawyer, daughter of Claude and Effie (Gilmore) Lawyer of North Platte, at the First Methodist Episcopal Church on April 18, 1948.
Robert joined the Nebraska State Guards in 1945, serving as Corporal and Clerk of Company “A.” He then joined the U.S. Navy in 1946 and was stationed at the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, D.C. Following the conclusion of World War II, he joined the Naval Reserves and was called back into the Navy in 1952 and served on the USS Bradford DD-545 as a Yeoman for the engineering officer until his discharge in 1954. The USS Bradford was the first U.S. naval ship fired on by Russian MIGS during the Korean War.
In honor of his naval service, Robert subsequently received the China Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. Robert was honored to have served in the United States Armed Services during World War II and the Korean War, following in the footsteps of his great-grandfathers, Henry Smith of Schuyler, NE, and Henry Miller of Curtis, NE, who served in the United States Grand Army of the Republic during the American Civil War, and his ancestor Peter Chesley of New York, who served in the American Revolution.
Robert joined Platte Valley Public Power and Irrigation District as a surveyor in 1947. Bob then hired out as a Brakemen with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1950 and retired as a Conductor in 1990.
Robert was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Platte for over 65 years. He was a member of Platte Valley Lodge #32, AF&AM, for over 65 years and was a member of the York Rite Bodies. Bob was also a member of Signet Chapter #55, Order of Eastern Star, for over 50 years, and served as Worthy Patron in 1965, 1988, and 2006. He served as Associate Guardian of Job’s Daughters, Bethel #4. Robert was a member of P.R. Halligan Post #163 American Legion, and served as secretary for the Elks Lodge #985 in North Platte for two years.
Robert is survived by Helen, his wife of 67 years, of North Platte; his daughter, Debra (Carl) Mullendore, of Bernalillo, NM; his sister, Beverly (Warren) Wilson, of Kansas City, MO, and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Garnette (Haskins) Brannan.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, the Masonic-Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont, the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, the Salvation Army, the Goodfellows Shoe Fund, the North Platte Food Pantry, or the donor’s choice.

Sheryl Joan Mowers
Sheryl Joan Mowers, age 74 of North Platte, passed away Thursday May 21, 2015.
Sheryl was born on August 7, 1940 in Curtis, NE to Elston and Cora (Gardner) McConahay. In 1942 the family moved to North Platte when Elston hired on the railroad. She attended North Platte Public Schools, graduating in 1958. After graduation she worked at 1st National Bank before marrying Don Mowers on September 27, 1971. The couple owned and operated the David Store in Tryon from 1973 to 1976. They also owned the grocery store in Maxwell for a time. In addition Sheryl worked for many years as the school secretary at Our Redeemer Lutheran School until her retirement. She was a long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and was a L.W.M.L. member. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 57 years. Sheryl loved playing solitaire along with her sister, classic music, soap operas, movies and tv shows.
Sheryl is survived by daughter Linda (Bill) Groves of North Platte; daughter-in-law MeKay Mowers of Windsor, CO; 2 sons Dan (Tami) Mowers of Grand Island and David (Kelly) Mowers of Englewood, CO; 5 grandchildren, Justin, Kate, Lyndsey, Nicole, Mackenna; great grandchildren Christopher, Zoe, Ivy; 2 brothers Jerry (Norma) McConahay of North Platte and Neil (Janice) McConahay of Tempe, AZ; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don; son Matthew; sisters Carol (McConahay) Kuhlmann and Janice McConahay; and brothers Milton, Harold and Tom McConahay.

Matthew Charles White
Matthew Charles White, 44, of Sutherland, NE, died in North Platte, NE, on May 12, 2015.
Matthew was born May 5, 1971, to Maurice White and Wilma Garrison in Denver, CO. He was raised by his grandparents, Charlie and Victoria White, in Crawford, NE and graduated from Crawford High School in 1990. While in high school, Matthew was involved in several sports and activities, and was a great football player. GO RAMS! GO HUSKERS! Matthew was awarded the Wellington Trophy and received a football scholarship to attend Fort Hayes State College in Kansas.
Matthew lived in Colorado for several years and worked for Bright Line, IMG and Capco. He later moved back to Nebraska where he lived in Sutherland and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked as a Fireman/Oiler.
He is survived by his family which includes his six children, Cheyenne Storm, William Thunder, Gavin Cloud, Gracie Rain and twins, Jaxon Maurice and Zoie Sloane; brothers, Jason Mincks, of Muskogee, OK, and John Riddle, of San Francisco, CA; mother, Wilma Garrison, of Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and other family members.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Maurice White; grandparents, Charlie and Victoria White; and an aunt, Dolly Roaneagle.
Cremation was chosen. A Wake Service will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at Christ Community Church in Crawford, NE. Garry Lee Ostrander
Garry Lee Ostrander, 68, of Lincoln, passed away Jan. 3, 2015, at his home.
He was born to Walter Roy and Edith June (Keller) Ostrander in Alliance on Aug. 15, 1946.
Survivors include his sons, Billy (Patricia) and Tony (Kathy) Ostrander; grandchildren, Geoffrey, Macen, Nathan and Kaitlyn; brother, Larry (Vickie) Ostrander; sister, Pat (Marve) Plumber; four nieces; and one nephew. Funeral will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery May 23 at 10:00am
Dale Edward Jennings
Dale Edward Jennings, 84, of North Platte, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2015 at Great Plains Health hospital in North Platte.
Dale was born to Edward V. and Mary E. Miller Jennings in Hershey, NE, on March 22, 1931 at the home of John and Rose Keeney. He went home to join his older sisters, Nettie and Bonnie, at the family ranch located on the Birdwood Creek north of Sarben. They later moved to the Stone Ranch west of Sutherland, where his sister Dixie and brother Ralph were born. The family moved to North Platte in March of 1936.
Dale attended McKinley Grade School, Franklin Jr. High School and graduated from North Platte High School in 1949. In December 1951, he joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War, flying 52 combat missions as an air crew member. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in Texas, Korea, and Washington, D.C. On June 2, 1955 he married Joanne Black of Tryon, NE, and they spent their first six months of married life in Washington, D.C. while Dale was stationed at Bolling AFB. Following his discharge in December 1955, they made their home in North Platte. Dale hired on with Union Pacific Railroad in August 1956 and worked as a yard switchman, new student instructor, and brakeman on train runs to Cheyenne, WY. They built a home just south of North Platte on Highway 83 near the NPPD supply canal and lived there until moving to his current address. He retired from the railroad April 1, 1992.
Dale and Joanne greatly enjoyed the RV life-traveling, camping, visiting friends and family and enjoying the outdoors. They had a small cabin at Martin Bay on Lake McConaughy and had purchased a residence in Brownsville, TX for a place to spend away from the cold of Nebraska winters. Dale was a member of the Union Pacific Old Timers Club, the Moose Club, and the VFW.
Dale is survived by his sister Dixie Greenwood and brother Ralph Jennings both of North Platte; sisters-in-law, Joyce Wilkins of Kearney and Jerry (Gary) Neal all of North Platte; good friend, Joanne Anderson of North Platte; and an extensive extended family of nieces and nephews whom he had “adopted” as his own.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joanne; sisters, Nettie Frost and Bonnie Neeley; sister-in-law, Janis Nielsen; brothers-in-law, Buddy Wilkins, Darwin Nielson, Larry Greenwood, and Bob Frost; nephew, Steve Frost; great-nephew, Cody Wilkins; great-niece, Kylee Neal; stepbrother-in-law, Rick Black; stepmother-in-law, Leah Black; and god-son, Zachary Peters.

Lyle A. Martin
Lyle A. Martin, 97, of North Platte, passed away May 16, 2015 at Centennial Park Retirement Village. He was born February 23, 1918 to Alva L. and Effie (Turner) Martin at Grand Island. Lyle served in the United States Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was united in marriage to MaeEtta Nichols on September 27, 2001. Lyle was a licensed journeymen plumber for over 45 years. He is survived by two daughters, Jo White of Georgia and Nolen Rogers of Florida; cousins, Richard (Janice) Martin, Carol Mack and Wesley (Sherry) Martin; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, MaeEtta; two brothers, James and Kenneth; and a sister, Lucille. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Ft.
