Darlene Mae Finke, age 73 of North Platte, passed away in Colorado on January 11, 2015. Stanford Roy ‘Fuzz’ Fisher

Stanford Roy ‘Fuzz’ Fisher, 92 years, of Hershey, NE, passed away at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte, NE, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015.

Fuzz was born on May 16, 1922, to James Irven and Elsie Henriette Karre Fisher at White in Hayes County, NE. He grew up in the White and Maywood area before the family moved in 1932 to Hershey where he attended Hershey School. Fuzz farmed for the Rouche Brothers from 1939 until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Following his discharge in 1945, Fuzz returned to Hershey and went back to work for the Rouches in farming and aviation. He traveled all over the U.S. spraying crops and would haul wrecked airplanes back to the Hershey Flying Service for repair.

In 1948 Fuzz married Elsie Lurean ‘Rene’ Shaw and to this union his sons, Charles and Roger, were born. Fuzz retired from the Hershey Flying Service then enjoyed traveling around with his family and grandkids.

In May 1991, Fuzz moved from Hershey to Sutherland, living at Sandy Acres, until 2011 when he moved to North Platte. Fuzz was a member of Paul R. Martin Post #279 American Legion, Hershey V.F.W. Post #979 and was on the Hershey Honor Guard for many years. Fuzz was a loving dad, grandpa and friend.

He is survived by his son, Charles ‘Chuck’ (Angie) Fisher, of North Platte; seven grandchildren, Brenda Detter, Carma (Jason) Lannon, Bobby (Mindy) Fisher, Ashley (James) Carlson and Jennifer, Jayme and Jacobi Fisher; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Fuzz was proceeded in death by his son, Roger; his parents, James and Elsie; three brothers, Vernon, Stanley and James; and two sisters and their husbands, Melva and James Boyle and Norma and Darrel Anderson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Richard Piontkowski as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Condolences may also be shared at odeanchapel.com. Roscoe “Clark” Hartley

Roscoe “Clark” Hartley age 87, of North Platte passed away January 12, 2015 at his home. He was born September 23, 1927 in Cove, Oregon to Ray and Eva Mae Baker Roscoe.
Roscoe attended High School in Cove, OR, after completion of High School he entered the United States Navy serving in WWII. He married Penny Barnes and to this union two daughters were born, Delores Diane and Eva Virginia. He later married Diana Classen in March, 1962 in Sheridan, WY and four more children were added to the family, William, Amanda, Charmaine and Hannah. Clark worked for Collins Construction in ND, Northern Improvement and worked as a short order cook both in MT, he moved to Arkansas to be closer to his family and moved to North Platte 5 years ago.
Roscoe worked for several trucking companies, he attended Western College of Auctioneers in Billings, MT. and auctioned in ND, MT and ARK. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed his dogs, Rags, Outlaw, and Rascal. He was a member of the Billings, MT Teamsters 190.
Survivors include children, William Ray Hartley of Russellville, AR, Amanda (Dean) McConnell of Sutherland, Charmaine Williard of North Platte, Hannah (Doug) Jenkins of Russellville, AR:grandchildren, Cathy (David) Wallies, Eva (Freddy) Zogg, Gary “Clark” (Mathal) Wilkison, Marsha (Steve) Cole, Marvin McConnell, Wynonna Willard,Dustin (Megan) Howell, Doug Jenkins, Michelle Howell, Jesse Jenkins, Kaylan Pumphrey (Darshawn) King, Nathan Howell, and Brittany Jenkins; great-grandchildren, William Sandin, Jim Wallies, Adam Wallies, Alicia Wallies, Brandon DeCent, Bruce DeCent, Breanna DeCent, Marston Cole, Kelly Zoey, Ashylnn, Hailey, Zavannah, and Fayleen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Alford, Clista, Grace, and Elsie.

Donald Lee Trisdale

Donald Lee Trisdale, Sr. of North Platte passed away January 12, 2015 in Omaha, NE.

Don was born April 25, 1947 in Fort Collins, CO to Claude K. and Vola B. Trisdale. The family later moved to North Platte where he grew up and attended school. He enjoyed cooking and spent most of his life serving others. Over the years he worked at Tomahawk Truck Stop, managed the Stockman Inn, and most recently was employed at Centennial Retirement Village. He was a valued employee and friend. He enjoyed the little things such as playing the casinos, keno and fishing. He is a beloved father, grandfather and greatgrandfather ( papa the great ). He will be greatly missed.

He is preceeded in death by his parents Claude Sr. and Vola, siblings Robert, Katherine, John, Nellie, Sarah, Roy, David, James, Claude Jr. and Peggy.

He is survived by his better half of twenty years Connie Breach, children Tina(Mike Toth) Mccarter of Norfolk, NE, Donnie ( Sharamie ) Trisdale Jr. of Cozad, NE, Jason ( Tara ) Trisdale of North Platte, Josh ( Anita ) Trisdale of North Platte, Tracey Scott of Benkleman, NE, grandchildren Hunter, Lakyn, Sawyer, Cayd, Ashley, Elliot, Donnie III, Kaitlyn, Tierson, Sanden, Kannon, Kiley, Annabelle, Taylr, Tanner, Taryn and great granddaughters Roxzan, Raven and Laylah, sibling Mary Wade, Sue ( Joe ) Hackler of Cheyenne, WY, Polly Trisdale , Harry Trisdale, Marlin ( Dina ) Trisdale all of North Platte and numerous nieces , nephews and extended family.

Russell Dean Smiley

Russell Dean Smiley, of North Platte, NE, formerly of Florida, died at the age of 52 as the result of a car accident in Tifton, GA, on Sunday, October 19, 2014.

Russ was born March 19, 1962, at Highland, IL to Eddie L. and Darla M. Patterson Smiley. He grew up in Illinois and later joined the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC. Following his discharge Russ started his trade as a plumber which he was doing at the time of his death.

On June 20, 2008, Russ married Deanna Jo Shirley Klatt at Hudson, FL where they made their home. In December 2013, Russ and Deanna moved to North Platte. Russ loved motorcycles and was a Harley Rider.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna Smiley, and his in-laws, Vernon ‘Sonny’ and Eileen Shirley, all of North Platte; a daughter, Tiffany McCoy, of Melbourne, FL; stepson, Jeremiah Klatt, of Odessa, FL; four grandchildren; his siblings, Eddie, Jr. (Pam) Smiley, of Hudson, FL, Dana (Tommy) Rowland, of Spring Hill, FL and Sherrie (Rusty) Davidson and Shelly Henderson, all of Illinois; his step siblings, Amber Smiley and Darin (Erika) Smiley, all of New Port Richey, FL and Jill (Steve) Mamalou, of Hudson, FL; eight nieces; eight nephews; and other family.

Russ was proceeded in death by his father, Eddie, Sr.; his sister, Shelly; and two days after his death, his mother, Darla Demkey, passed away.

Cremation was chosen. A graveside memorial service with military honors will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015, in Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating. Delores Loraine Spaulding, 79 years, of North Platte, NE, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

Delores was born February 28, 1935, to Howard and Agnes Porter Royer at Plattsmouth, NE where she grew up and attended school. Delores later moved to Omaha, NE.

In 1976, Delores married Jim Spaulding, Jr. in North Dakota and they soon made their home in Boxholm, IA. Following Jim’s death in 1982, Delores moved to North Platte with her children, Al and Ruth, to be closer to her daughter, Kathy.

When the kids were younger, Delores was a Den Mother and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was a member of the Harvest Christian Fellowship and RSVP, and a life member of the PTA. Delores loved her grandkids and helped other children as a foster grandmother. She was always willing to help and put others first.

Delores is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Rich) Huff and Ruth (Mike) Kurth, all of North Platte; sons, John (Yim) Furchert, of Edgewood, MD, Duke Furchert, of Dickinson, ND, Mike Furchert, of Waxahachie, TX, and Al Furchert, of North Platte; and three sisters, Arlene Egli and June (Lefty) Kissinger, all of Oregon, and Jeanne Moore, of Omaha.

She will also be missed by her 16 grandchildren, Penny, Delores, Sabrina, Nicole, Connor, Ellie, Mickey, Jerry, Ashley, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Joette, Sierra, Tori, Mason and Rylee; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, James, Jr.; a son, Nick Furchert; a grandson, John; her parents, Howard and Agnes Royer; and two sisters, Darlene Englebritsen and Ila Kahm.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Harvest Christian Fellowship with Pastor Jeremy Rienke officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Iowa. John R. DeBrie

John R. DeBrie died Jan. 6, 2015, at North Platte Care Center. He was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Gibbon to Amiel and Ora DeBrie. John served in the United States Army. He had various jobs during his lifetime, some being erecting radio towers, Sutherland Power Plant, stone foundation work and hauling mail in Nebraska and Colorado. Johnny was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for many years. Johnny was a simple man. He had a love for children and a good joke to tell. A special thank you to the “Angels” at Premier Estates and North Platte Care Center for their love and care for Johnny. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and one sister. Survivors include his close family, Joan (Martin) Amweg, John (Peggy) Martin, Mike (Melanie) Martin, Janalee (Eddie) Hanson and other distant relatives. Cremation was chosen. A private family burial will be at a later date at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Carpenter Memorial is in charge of arrangements.

Carmen Delia Summers

carmen-sumersCarmen Delia Summers, age 56 of North Platte, passed away Friday January 9, 2015 at UNMC in Omaha.

Carmen was born on August 13, 1958 in Pearsall, TX to Pedro and Anita (Cuellar) Herrada.  She graduated from Hershey High School and married Laine Summers.  The couple made their home in Lincoln, NE before moving to Minnesota.  To their union two daughters were born, Beth and Lori.  She worked for the Lancaster County Attorney before deciding to become a stay at home mom to her own daughters, as well as caring for other children.  The family traveled with Laine’s job all over the world, including the Middle East, South America, and Indonesia.  After living in Houston for a while, she moved back to North Platte in 2006.  She loved animals and rescued many.  She was very creative, and an excellent seamstress, making the girls’ costumes.  She enjoyed gardening and baking and had a talent for decorating cakes.

Carmen is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Robert Wyllie) Summers and Lori Summers both of Portland, OR; father Pedro (Juanita) Herrada of Sutherland and mother Anita Fagen of Hershey; siblings Stella (Brent) Larreau of Hershey, James (Shannon) Herrada of Hershey, Pedro Herrada, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; sister in law Donna Herrada of North Platte; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Rolando Herrada and Simon Herrada; and step father Robert Fagen.

Kimberly Kay Ellis Bolden

kimberly-boldenKimberly Kay Ellis Bolden, age 45, of North Platte, passed away January 7, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln.

She was born October 11, 1969 at Kimball, NE to Ronald and Cindy (Mundhenke) Ellis. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1989 and later received her associate of arts degree in criminal justice from Mid-Plains Community College. Kimberly worked at the Lincoln County Detention, the Camera and Lab Shop and later stayed at home caring for her children. They moved to Statesboro, GA were she was deeply involved with the rescue of Husky dogs. In 2010, she was involved in an auto accident, which she fought through many surgeries and continued to have determination and a smile. She returned back to North Platte in July of 2014.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Kynthia Daniel of Park, KS, Cody and Austin Daniel both of North Platte; her father, Ron Ellis; mother, Cindy Hastings; two sisters, Ronna Ellis and Jenny (Keith) Howell; nephews, Micheal Hill, Tanner, Kail, and Kaiden Howell; uncles, Dennis Ellis and Gary (Jacque) Mundhenke; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wesley and Louise Ellis, LeRoy Mundhenke and Vicki MacIntosh.

Memorial services will 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Gary Smith officiating. Cremation was chosen. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 1 to 6 pm Sunday or 9am to 5pm Monday or online at www.carpentermemorial.com.

Loretta Paxton

loretta-paxtonGracie Loretta Paxton, 77 years, passed away at home in North Platte, NE, on Thursday, January 8, 2015, surrounded by her family.

Loretta was born September 6, 1937, to Estle Plumb ‘Pete’ and Gracie Bryden Gessford Dunlap at Franklin, NE where she grew up. Loretta graduated from Franklin High School in 1955 then attended Kearney State Teachers College. She taught at Roosevelt Elementary in North Platte for two years then at Gates Elementary in Grand Island for a year.

On June 26, 1960, Loretta married Francis Howard ‘Frank’ Paxton at Franklin. They made their home in North Platte where she taught country school at Box Elder Canyon for two years and Pleasant View for another year. Loretta later worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Schweser’s and was a substitute teacher.

Loretta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 54 years and the Presbyterian Women’s Association for 50, a member of the Mariner’s Group and the Auxiliary Fire Dept. for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and loved tending to her roses.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Frank, of North Platte; children, Daniel (Connie) Paxton, of Lincoln, NE, and Teresa (David) Clouatre, of North Platte; eight grandchildren, Victoria, Andrea, Nicholas, Cassandra, Jennifer, Kevin, Baylee and Dalton; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Carter, Kaden, Magealena and Darr; three sisters, Mary Hanson, of Holdrege, NE, Dorothy (Robert) Chapman, of Lincoln, NE, and Marian (Ron) Forsythe, of Melbourne, Australia; a sister-in-law, Nancy Fisher, of North Platte; her brother-in-law, Lynn (MaryLou) Paxton, of Denver, CO; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Gracie Dunlap; a brother, Dean Dunlap; and her brother-in-law, Junior Earl Hanson.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Polly Deppen-Williams officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
