SANER, PAUL

Paul E. Saner, 83, of North Platte, passed away January 28, 2014 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1931 to Pearl and Jeanette (Wilson) Saner at Dunning, NE. Paul grew up in Dunning and graduated from Dunning High School in 1950. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorary discharge he returned to Nebraska and was united in marriage to Sharyn Hilderbrand. He worked as respiratory therapist and a technician at Berg Typewriter. Paul loved people and entertaining with his music at nursing homes and other events, where he played various instruments. He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Rhonda) Harvey of Des Moines and James (Lynn) Saner and Mark Saner both of North Platte; a daughter, Deborah (Robert “Howdy”) Jochum of Sutherland; a daughter-in-law, Deanna Saner of Kearney; brothers, Glenn and Jerry Saner; sisters, Ruth Nelson, Freda Fiehler and Fern (Horace) Nelson, Marilyn (Charles) Swisher and Lucille (Jim) Barker; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel; a daughter, Stephanie; his wife, Gloria; an infant sister and brother. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow the services. Ralph Richard Banderet

Ralph Richard Banderet, 86, of Ogallala, NE, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, NE.

Ralph was born August 28, 1927, to Harry R. and Ella Welch Banderet on the family farm near Elsie, NE in Perkins County. He attended school at Elsie Rural School from kindergarten through the 7th grade then attended Paxton High School until 11th grade. Ralph quit school in 1945 to join the U.S. Navy during W.W.II. He served on two ships, the USS Wasach and the USS Lassen, and earned the rank of Fireman 2nd Class. Ralph was awarded the Victory Medal and the Service Medal (also known as “The Ruptured Duck”). He was honorably discharged in 1946.

When Ralph returned home he met Barbara Lea Kail Anderson. They married in 1947 and lived in Paxton. After trying to work for the Union Pacific Railroad for a year as a Fireman he moved to California. The family lived in La Crescenta, CA until 1968 when he and Barbara divorced. In June 1969, Ralph married Anna Maria Geiger.

Ralph was a member of the Elks in California and Clampers.

Survivors include his sons, Riley Banderet, of Fresno, CA and Roger Banderet, of Ogallala; a daughter, Mary (Fred) Williams, of Great Falls, ND; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a sister, MaryBelle (Bud) Perball, of Wichita, KS; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Maria; his parents, Harry and Ella; two brothers, Francis (Nana) and Vincent; and two sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Campbell and Ruth Hayes.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Gary Smith officiating. Ralph’s cremains will be placed in the El Camino Memorial Park Columbarium in San Diego, CA at a later date. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Ralph’s great niece, Chelcie “Shorty” Baumfalk.

Stephen Dale Ramm


RAMM, STEVE

Stephen Dale Ramm, 54, of North Plate, passed away January 24, 2014 at the University Medical Center in Omaha. He was born May 19, 1959 to Jack L. and Alice B. (Carlson) Ramm at North Platte. Steve graduated from Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, AZ, then returning to North Platte. Steve was destined to be in the building and construction business. He was employed by Homan Brothers for a number of years before starting his own business as general contractor under the name, Ramm Construction. He excelled as a builder and he did in everything in this life. He was most recently the territory manager for Heartland Pella. On June 30, 2001, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Milette (Simonson) Kelliher in North Platte. Steve enjoyed golfing, football, his friends, and his loving family. Family was always Steve’s priority especially his beautiful daughter, her husband. He will be missed for his beautiful smile, charming laugh, and kisses for all the girls. He is survived by his wife, Milette of North Platte; his daughter, Stephanie (Jake) Wiesen of Scottsdale, AZ; step-son, Brandon (Terri Burchell) Kelliher of North Platte; sisters, Barb (Bill) Schoenstein of Gilbert, AZ, and Bev (Jim) Keime of Parker, CO; brothers, Jack (Janet) Ramm of Waconia, MN and Jim (Linda) Ramm of Prescott, AZ; step brother, Jim (Roseanna) Weaver of Ahwatukee, AZ; a special niece, Debbie Kraft; and he was expecting his first grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Brady Kraft. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. There will be a celebration of his life at the Depot Restaurant, 520 N Jeffers St, after the internment.

Floyd D. Gastineau

Floyd D. Gastineau, age 76, of North Platte, passed away at his home among family members on January 24, 2014. Floyd was born in North Platte, NE to Floyd and Millie Fraizer Gastineau on July 15, 1937. He lived in North Platte his whole life. Floyd married Patricia Negley in North Platte in 1960. Born to this union were 7 children, Floyd Ray (Butch), Steve, Lynn, Jamie, Peggy, Karen, and Robbin.
Floyd made his living working at North Platte Plumbing and Heating, Union Pacific Railroad, and Tomahawk Truckstop. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His hobbies were gardening and going out at night hunting for worms to sell to other fishermen. He loved listening to Johnny Cash. To our beloved Father and Grandfather, may you rest in peace.
Survivors include his children, Steve Gastineau of North Platte, Lynn Allen of North Platte, Jamie Gastineau of Hershey, Peggy (LeRoy) Gray of North Platte, and Karen (Duffy) Hopkins of North Platte; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Millie Gastineau; the mother of his children, Patricia Gastineau; two sons, Floyd (Butch) and Robbin; and four brothers, Pete, Bernie, Robert, and Russell.

Dora L. Barrios, age 86 of North Platte, passed away at her home on Thursday January 23, 2014.
Dora was born on March 13, 1927 in Eaton, CO to Feliciano and Amalia (Leon) Soto. She lived in Limon, NE and worked in the fields with her family. Her mother passed away when Dora was very young. After her father passed away she moved with extended family to North Platte. On September 27, 1946 she married Raymond Domingus in Kansas. To this union 6 children were born, Gloria, Joyce, Raymond, Alex, Sam and Joe. She married Emilo “Tex” Barrios on June 19, 1970 in Ogallala, NE. She worked for Roger Groch for 31 years at his restaurants in North Platte. She loved to cook and watch her favorite tv program, Walker, Texas Ranger.
Dora is survived by her children Joyce (Ron) Kelley of North Platte, Sam Domingus of North Platte and Alex Domingus of Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law Ruth Soto of North Platte; brother-in-law Frank Cardenas of North Platte; 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands Raymond and “Tex”; daughter Gloria A. Domingus; sons Joe Domingus and Raymond Domingus; stepmother Jennie Paz; 2 grandchildren Jessica Domingus and Nathan Domingus; brothers Lee, Jess, Joe, Tommy, Walter and Henry; and sisters Rosie Cardenas and Antonia Rice.

Robert “Bob” Lennon Rauterkus

Robert “Bob” Lennon Rauterkus, 65, passed away Jan. 20, 2014, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center, with his wife at his side. He had many health issues and his doctors and nurses helped him leave this world in peace. Bob was born May 6, 1948, to Paul J. Rauterkus and Jeanne (Lennon) Rauterkus in Council Bluffs, Iowa. At age 3, Bob and his family moved to Hastings, NE. Two siblings joined the family, Paula (Eddie) Navarro and Steve Rauterkus. Bob attended St. Cecilia Catholic Schools, graduating in 1966. He attended college at Regis University (all men’s school) in Denver and later the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Bob was married to Karen Catsinas in August of 1978. To this union was born Sara Beth Rauterkus, Nov. 27, 1979. Following a divorce, Bob and Sara moved to North Platte. Bob married Denise(Johnston) Rauterkus on Feb. 25, 1984. A son, Matthew was born on Jan. 26, 1987. There were definitely bets on how long that marriage would last, but next month would have been 30 years. Bob’s greatest joy was selling and being sold. In Hastings he was employed by Demars Beer Distributors and then gained a real estate license and sold properties in the Hastings area. In 1981 he moved to North Platte to work for Arrowhead Distributing and Bob Klemm. He later worked in the convenience store business as a merchandising buyer and manager. At the time of his death he was employed by R and C Petroleum (Time Saver Stores, Winfields Coffee and Skyline liquor store) Bob helped design and stock Skyline and was very proud of it’s success. He appreciated the support and belief in his business abilities by the Schwindt family. Bob is survived by his wife, Denise; his daughter, Sara Rauterkus and granddaughter, Krystal Rauterkus of North Platte; his son, Matthew of Bar Harbor, Maine; his sister, Paula and brother-in-law Eddie Navarro, of Arvada, Colo.; and his brother, Steve Rauterkus, of Los Angeles, Calif.; nieces, Megan (Ken) Wood, Kacey Navarro, Laura (Russ) Shipman and Shelly (Ronnie) Harsh, all of Denver. He leaves seven great nieces, McKenzie, Gracie Jo, Delaney and Taylor Wood. Shelby and Sydney Harsch, Phoebe Shipman and one great-nephew Aiden Shipman. His mother-in-law, Shirley Johnston, of Hastings; sister-in-law, Daphne (Kyle) Anderson and brother-in-law, Darin Johnston, all of Lincoln. Bob will be missed for his infectious loud laughter and his clever comebacks. He could be tough and grouchy and kind and thoughtful. He leaves behind many friends who will have “Bob” stories and memories for many years to com. Rosary will by Thursday, January 23 at 7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with family greeting friends beginning at 6 p.m. Christian Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Friday, January 24th 2014. Vicky MacIntosh

Vicki L. MacIntosh, 83, of North Platte, passed away Jan. 19, 2014 at North Platte Care Center. She was born Jan. 19, 1931 to Roy and Violet (McCullough) Hart at Summerfield, KS. She grew up in the McCook area and graduated from McCook High School. Vicki was united in marriage to LeRoy Mundhenke on Sept. 3, 1948. They continued to live in McCook and had two children, Cindy and Gary. She worked at Sehnert’s Bakery, where she was a cake decorator. She moved to California and later married Sandy MacIntosh. Following his death, Vicki moved to North Platte in 1993. She volunteered with Sr. Ministries with the First Baptist Church and enjoyed painting. She is survived by her children, Cindy Hastings of North Platte and Gary (Jacque) Mundhenke of Princeton, KS; eight grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma Jean Hart; a brother, Bobby Hart; a husband, Sandy; two great grandchildren. A memorial has been established in her memory. Marion Fredrick “Chico” Holmes, 65, of North Platte, NE, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at home surrounded by his family.

Chico was born February 17, 1948, to Thelma Eloise Holmes Keys at North Platte where he grew up. He attended Buffalo School and North Platte High School. Chico later moved to Omaha, NE where he worked for a meat packing house. He met Barb Holmes and they married in 1986.

Chico returned to North Platte in 1991 where he met Tonia Plunk and they raised Kizzie, Brandon, Jessie, Tommy, Francisco and Anthony. Chico liked to spend time with his grandkids and had a big heart. He especially loved his nephews, Preston Keys, Bobby Keys, Braka Keys and Bobbie Deuerlein. Chico was close to his sister, Mary Miles, and they have a deep bond that no one can separate.

Chico liked to help others and had to do one good deed a day. He also liked to BBQ, cook, camp, fish and fix cars. He enjoyed hanging out at the Alamo Bar with Glen Hicks, Martin Sellers, Rick Smith, Fred Nabry, Bob Grandel and LeRoy Sellers. Chico was also friends with the Westenders of North Platte.

Chico is survived by his significant other, Tonia Plunk; his children, Brandon (Tara) Holmes, Jessie (Sara) Plunk, Francisco (Angel) Plunk, Anthony (Misty) Plunk, Will Hicks, Don (Amber) Morrissey and Kizzie (Shane) Ross, all of North Platte, Tommy (Holly) Plunk, of Lincoln, NE, Tabora (Michelle) Baker, Chico (Rhonda) Baker and Tonya (Ralph) Mitchell, all of Sioux City, IA; two sisters, Mary Miles and her daughter, Tina, and Precious Miller, all of North Platte; and a brother, Raymond (Chadie) Holmes, of Lincoln.

He is also survived by his 28 grandchildren, Siera, Natalya, O’Shea, Brandon, Jr., Dominick, Deaundrey, Heaven, Jessie, Jr., Bliss, Izayah, D’Avion, Isaiah, Elijah, Monique, Carlos, Tabora, Jr., Anthony, Jedci, George, Jeremiah; Sharae, Jesse, Daygon, Cerina, Anika, Denaya, Maggie and Jalyssa; many nieces, nephews and other family and his many friends.

Chico was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma; two sisters, Dee Kramer and Edna Keys; and five brothers, Clay Ryan, Bubba Holmes, Big Chico Holmes, Glen Holmes and Eddie Keys.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to services at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements.
