Doris Eileen Neal, 83 formerly of Tyron passed away January 13, 2014 at Linden Court. She was born March 24, 1930 in North Platte to Hugh and Louelva Connell Priest. Doris grew up in Hooker County on her parent’s ranch. Doris lived her entire life in the sandhills area except for one year when at age four her family lived in California. .She attended a one room school house in Hooker County. She and LaVerne Neal were childhood friends and were united in marriage on July 11, 1946. LaVerne always lovingly refered to her as “Dot”. The couple lived south of Tryon, in Tryon and in Thomas County where LaVerne worked for Chester Paxton. In 1952 they moved to their own ranch, north of Tryon which he purchased from his brother. The couple lived there until his death in 2008. Doris continued to live there until 2010 when her health no longer allowed it.
Doris was a wonderful cook. She made the best “butter horn” rolls and noodles! She could whip up a meal for unexpected guests in no time. She was also very musical, always singing. She rocked her children and grandchildren to sleep while singing her special little songs. She was a long time member of the Tryon Methodist Church and she and LaVerne were active members in the church for years. She helped on the ranch while they raised their children. Doris enjoyed watching the cows and little calves.
Survivors include her children, Dave (Linda) Neal of York, NE, Evelyn (Terry) Pettit of Culbertson, NE, Steve (Sharon) Neal, Dallas (Judy) Neal all of North Platte, NE and Kirk (Barbara) Neal of Tryon, NE; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- grand-child; sisters, Alice Bassett and Audrey French; sister-in-law, Phyllis Priest’ and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years; infant son, Derold Mark Neal; and brothers, Hermel and Kenneth Priest.

Hubert M. Fox
Hubert M. Fox was born November 18, 1927 in Reddinton, IN to Benjamin H. and Nellie (Davis) Fox. After growing up on the family farm he graduated from Seymour High School in 1945 in Seymour, IN.
He Joined the U.S. Army March 6, 1946. After serving in occupied Japan, with two months in General MacArthur’s honor guard in Tokyo, he was honorably discharged September 23, 1947 as a Corporal.
October 11, 1952 he married Doris E. Kelley, also of Reddington.
After driving his own truck for many years he was employed by Consolidated Freightways in June 1965 and moved to Woodridge, IL. In 1971 he was transferred to North Platte, NE, and in 1980 to Lincoln, NE where he retired in November 1993.
Hubert enjoyed deer hunting with family and friends, model trains, traveling, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years; children, Brenda G. Robinson, Michael K. Fox (Peggy), Christine E. Nelson (Robert) and Candice D. Fox-Martinez (Tracy), all of North Platte, NE; brother, John M. Fox (Lucille) of Reddington, IN; sister-in-law, Marilyn Glasson (Jim) of Reddington, IN and Lake Placid, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer Robinson, Tyler Robinson (Emily), Brad Robinson, Colby Robinson, Travis Fox (Jennifer), Matthew Fox (Shawna), Benjamin Pease (Patty), Kelley Enriquez, Jacqueline Tabke (Chanse), Vanessa Martinez, and Talia Martinez; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Glenn and Helen (Montgomery) Kelley, sisters, Josephine Townsend, Marjorie Fox and Dorothy Wallace; brothers, Edwin Fox and Eugene Fox; sister-in-law, Joyce Montgomery (Robert); son-in-law, Calvin Robinson; grandson, Mark Pease.

Lawrence L. “Larry” Hoffmann
Lawrence L. “Larry” Hoffmann, 88, of North Platte, NE, died Friday, January 10, 2014, in Omaha, NE.
Larry was born December 19, 1925, to Albin Leo and Mary Margaret Hearty Hoffman in Omaha where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from South High School and later Creighton University. Larry worked for Armour and Company for 13 years then worked for Iowa Beef Processors (IBP) for 34 years. Larry also served in the U.S. military from 1944 to 1946 as a Radio Operator in the Pacific Islands.
On September 26, 1959, Larry married Mick Mayfield at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte where they made their home. Larry enjoyed working outside in his yard and garden and tending to the many trees he planted. He had a talent for building and repairing anything. After his retirement, Larry enjoyed attending daily mass and his coffee groups. He and Mick traveled throughout Europe as well as Australia, New Zealand and Mexico. They also traveled the United States including a cruise to Alaska.
Larry was a member of B.P.O. Elks #985, American Legion P.R. Halligan Post #163 and Coyotes. He was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. His Catholic faith and German heritage were very important to him. Larry was a very kind and generous person who was also very fair and honest with the farmers and feedlots he dealt with.
Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mick, of North Platte; his four daughters, Ann (Gary) Neimanis and their son, Austin Neimanis, of Dexter, IA; Lisa Hoffmann; Kristina Hoffmann and her daughter, Katherine Hoffmann, and her son, Avery Hoffmann; and Molly Hoffmann, of Lincoln, NE; a sister, Theresa (Dr. Joseph) McCaslin, of Omaha; his brother, Thomas Hoffman, of Seward, NE; two brothers-in-law, Bud (Phyllis) Mayfield, of North Platte and John “Jack” Minton, of Omaha; his nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Mary; a brother, Albin; and two sisters, Mary Frances (Dr. Charles) Brannen and Regina Minton.
A Rosary Service will be 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Neal Hock celebrating. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Gary George Marshall
Gary George Marshall, 77, of North Platte, NE, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Great Plains Medical Center in North Platte.
Gary was born January 13, 1936, to Newell Taft and Theo Davis Marshall at Minersville, UT. He grew up in Minersville and graduated from there. Gary served in the U.S. Army during 1960 then returned to Utah where he hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in Milford.
On April 5, 1960, Gary married Doris Mae Beitz at Ely, NV and they made their home in Milford until 1969 when Gary was transferred to North Platte with the railroad and worked as a Carman. He retired from there in 1996 due to health concerns.
During his retirement years, Gary played a lot of golf and helped out at Indian Meadows Golf Course. He loved being with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and playing card games with his family.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Todd) Peterson, of North Platte and Vickey (Charles) Callen, of Littleton, CO; four sons, Chris Marshall, of Gothenburg, NE, Todd (Sherry) Marshall, of Illinois, Rick (Deb) Dalton, of Grand Island and Brad Dalton, of Caliente, NV; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Kim (Laurie) Marshall, of North Platte; three sisters, Elinor Beeson, of Beaver, UT, Nancy (Cliff) Yardley, of Mesa, AZ and Sheri (Bill) Garrett; a sister-in-law, Vie Marshall, of Minersville; several nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; his parents, Newell and Theo; a sister, Stanie Myers; and two brothers, Tex and Don.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his brother, Bishop Kim Marshall, officiating. Gary Lee Garton
Gary Lee Garton, 75, of North Platte, NE, died Sunday, January 12, 2014, at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, NE.
Gary was born August 25, 1938, to Renzol Charles “Pete” and Muriel Vivian Bubolt Garton at Bridgeport, NE. He grew up in Bridgeport and Severance, CO. In 1956 at the age of 17, Gary joined the U.S. Navy and served until 1959. Following his discharge he moved to Cheyenne, WY and worked for Rieman and Worth Construction Company as a crane operator for 30 years.
On April 8, 1956, Gary married Donna Mae Neeley at Pierce, CO. They lived in many different communities, but mainly Cheyenne. They also lived in Bridgeport for 15 years before moving to North Platte in 1993 where Gary worked for Giraffe Upholstery & Repair for 10 years. He had been a member of AA since 1987.
Gary is survived by three sons, Ricky (Karen) Garton, of Salt Lake City, UT, Toby Garton, of Cheyenne and Todd (fiancee, Monica) Garton, of Denver, CO; six grandchildren, Bo, Ryan, Amber, Shayla, Luann and Zackery Garton; a brother, Lynn (RaNae) Garton, of Gering, NE; two nephews, Cody and Joshua Garton; his cousins and other family including his aunt, Bonnie Bacus, of North Platte; and his friends including Sandy and Floyd Young-Schmitt and Byron James, all of North Platte.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents, Pete and Muriel; and a brother, Kenneth Garton.
A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be 9 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore followed by a graveside funeral service at 1 p.m. (MT) in the Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport. George Walter Wolcott
George Walter Wolcott, age 79, of Torrington, WY, formerly of North Platte, passed away January 7, 2014 at Community Hospital in Torrington.
George was born on January 8, 1934 in North Platte, NE to Floyd E. and Grace (Bartrop) Wolcott. George entered into the U.S. Air Force where he made it his career. He retired from the Air Force on April 1, 1973. After his retirement, George worked as a Caretaker, Housekeeping Supervisor, and CNA in Washington State. On September 12, 1995, George married Nancy LeCornu in Casper, WY. George enjoyed watching the History Channel and sports, most especially the Cornhuskers.
George is survived by his wife Nancy of Torrington; children, Irene (Ron) Stebbins, George Michael (Toni) Wolcott, and Diana Pena all of Sacramento, CA; step children, Chester Becker Jr. of Yankton, SD, and Elizabeth Radomski of Hutchinson, KS; brother Lyle Wolcott of North Platte; sister, Gertrude Lewis of North Platte; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert; and two sisters, Rose, and Leona.

Richard A. “Ricky” Heiser
Richard A. “Ricky” Heiser, 49, of Denver, Colo., passed away Jan. 2, 2014, due to complications from cancer.
Ricky loved to fish and camp in the mountains.
Ricky is survived by his mother, Sharon Heiser, of North Platte; his father, Richard F., of Texas; his brothers, Mike (Elizabeth), Anthony (Alycia), both of North Platte; his sister, Rebecca (John) Peterson, of Stapleton; his nephews, Justin, Garrett, Levi, Alex and Nick; one niece, Cayleayna; his aunts, Eloner Davis, of North Platte, Carol McCormick, of Strausburg, Colo.; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Peanuts and Estetine Holm and Richard and Katherine Heiser.
Cremation was chosen. There will be services in Denver and North Platte at a later date.
Ret. Lt. Col. Robert Reed Johnson
Ret. Lt. Col. Robert Reed Johnson, age 65 of North Platte, passed away Thursday January 9, 2014.
Bob was born on January 23, 1948 in North Platte to Robert Wolfe and Louise Marie (Reed) Johnson. He grew up in North Platte and graduated from high school in 1966. He then went on to Creighton University, graduating in 1970. He entered the US Army and served in Germany, where he met his wife, Snezana “Nina” Peric. They were married on November 11, 1972 in Buren, Germany. The couple lived in Buren before coming back to the states. Still with the military, they lived in Alabama, Terra Haute, IN, and Ames, IA. Bob retired from the military at Ames as a Lieutenant Colonel. After the military he worked for John Deere as an engineer. He also worked as a vice president in the automotive industry, living in Massachusetts, Utah, and Wisconsin and finally North Platte. He was a member of the Grace Community Bible Church and the Lake Maloney Golf Course. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and golf and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife Snezana “Nina” of North Platte; siblings Lynda Johnson of North Platte, Dan (Sherry) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Jerry (Lyuba) Johnson of North Platte; aunt Evelyn Reed of North Platte; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and uncles Bernard and Jim.

Juan Felipe Carrizales Martinez, Jr.
Juan Felipe Carrizales Martinez, Jr., infant son of Juan Felipe Carrizales Martinez, Sr. and Lynzee Jon Thompson, became an angel with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in North Platte, NE.
Including his parents, Juan Felipe is survived by his grandparents, Phil Martinez and Mary Carrizales, of North Platte, Michelle Thompson, of McPherson, KS and John Burnett, of San Antonio, TX; great-grandparents, Doug and Beth Thompson, of North Platte, Juan and Esther Carrizales, of Hershey, NE, Carolyn Kerchal, of Ord, NE, and Michael Burnett, of Broken Bow, NE; uncles, Zackary Thompson, Pedro Martinez, Miguel Martinez, Felipe Martinez, Jr. and Clemente Martinez, all of North Platte; several great-aunts and uncles and other family.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his great-grandparents, Rafael and Victoria Martinez; and his great-aunt, Brenda Campbell.

Flora Rose (Schrage) Hoefer
Flora Rose (Schrage) Hoefer, 90, passed away January 7, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Columbus, NE with family at her side.
She was born September 26, 1923 to Ferdinand and Anna (Klein) Schrage at Elgin, NE.
On June 12, 1944 she was united in marriage to Quentin Hoefer of Sutherland, NE at St Bonaventure Church in Raeville, NE. They made their home south of Sutherland on the farm, where they raised their six children. They later moved into Sutherland. In 1981 they moved to North Platte. Following the death of her husband in 2009, she moved to Columbus, NE.
She is survived by children: Judy (Larry) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, IA; Dolores (Jim) Ohmstede of Waterloo, IA; Raymond (Gachia) Hoefer of Carmel, IN; Dennis (Kimberly) Hoefer of Columbus, NE; Joan (Dirac) Twidwell of La Monte, MO; grandchildren: David (Karla) Dalton, Eric (Michelle) Dalton, Deb (Tony) Miksa, Alicia (Adam) Messer, Luis (Ashley) Ohmstede, Michael Ohmstede, Marty Ohmstede, Whitney (Wallace Karanja) Ohmstede, Anna Hoefer, Caitlin Hoefer, Justin Hoefer, Denise (Dallas) Thelen, Dirac (Kristin) Twidwell, Josh (Sylvia Pierzak) Twidwell, Jeremiah Twidwell and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Jerome Schrage of Omaha, NE; Ferd Schrage of Petersburg, NE; and sister Bernette (Jim) Ramaekers of Bayard, IA.
She was preceded in death by husband Quentin, son Gregory in 1980, her parents, brothers Ray, Walter, Claude, Bob and infant sister Rita Ann.
