Aiyana Marta Flores, age 3, of North Platte passed away December 21, 2013 at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, NE. She was born November 9, 2010 in North Platte to Ricardo and Ruperta Machado Flores. She was a gift of a child and touched everyone around her.
She is survived by her parents, Ruperta Machado-Flores and Ricardo Flores of North Platte; sister, Sabrena Alannah Flores; brother, Erick Roque Flores; maternal grandparents, Eliseo Sr. and Olga Machado of Seguin, Texas; and paternal grandparents, Francisco Eliseo and Marta Velasquez of Mission, TX.
She was preceded in death by two uncles, Francisco Eliseo Jr. and Moises Velasquez.

Eusebia “Sally” Murphy
Eusebia “Sally” Murphy, age 60, of North Platte passed away December 20, 2013 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, NE. Sally was born September 10, 1953 in Bohol, Philippines to Perpetuo and Rosita Sayde Sebusa. She grew up in the Philippines. On January 19, 1977 she married Dennis Murphy in the Philippines. The couple resided in Southern California, Hawaii and Washington. After Dennis retired, they moved around the country, settling in North Platte in 1998. Sally worked at the Ramada Inn, Linden Court, and the Hampton Inn.
Sally was a member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters, she was very faithful to her church. She enjoyed helping people, and will be missed by her many family members and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis of North Platte; daughter, Marivic (Richard) Rivera of North Platte; grandsons, Richard Rivera Jr., Daniel Rivera, Jonathan Rivera, Christian Rivera and Joseph Rivera; brothers, Willie, Etie, Turo, Dodo and Johnny all of the Philippines; and sisters, Betty, Erlinda, Guilley all of the Philippines and Virgie of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ivan Knox
Ivan Knox, 84, of North Platte left his earthly body behind on Dec. 10, 2013 at Linden Court in North Platte.
Ivan was born the youngest of 7 to Paul and Edith Knox June 26, 1929 in Custer County Nebraska. He graduated from Ansley High School in 1947. After high school, Ivan worked in Ansley as a carpenter with his father Paul Knox. Ivan moved to Mansfield Ohio in the early 1950’s where he worked for Reece Optical. He returned to Nebraska in the late 1950’s eventually moving to Kearney where he met his bride Alice Oltmans LPN of Filley Nebraska. Ivan and Alice were married on June 2, 1962. They moved to North Platte later in 1962 when Ivan started a new job as manager for Rite-Style Optical. He continued to work for Rite-Style until his retirement in 1996. Ivan and Alice raised 4 children in North Platte; Daniel, Phyllis, Randall, and William. After retiring from the optical business, Ivan worked part-time as a van driver for The Sands motel. Most of his retirement years were dedicated to caring for Alice, his grandchildren, and his North Platte home.
Ivan was active in North Platte Community Theater, Nebraskaland Days Frontier Review, SPEBSQSA, Elks Club, Eagles Club, and First Lutheran Church.
Ivan was a champion bowler, an avid golfer, an accomplished pool player, an entertainer, a gardener, a blood donor, a Husker fan, a devoted father, a fun grandpa, and a tireless caregiver to his bride Alice.
In addition to his wife and children, Ivan is survived by his sister Lola Brown, daughter-in-law Lesley Knox, 7 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ivan was preceded in death by parents Paul and Edith, brothers Clyde and Orville, and sisters Roma, Neita, and Pauline.
Please join us on Saturday Dec. 28, 2013 @ 11am for Ivan’s memorial/life celebration at First Lutheran Church in North Platte.
Internment will be at the Ansley Cemetery in the warmth of spring.

Lavella Grace Pfeister
Lavella Grace Pfeister, 58, of North Platte, NE, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Lavella was born September 2, 1955, to Demar Wesley and Ethel Faye Timmons Garner in North Platte where she grew up and attended school. In 1993 Lavella received her Associates Degree in Journalism from Mid-Plains Community College.
On November 18, 1972, Lavella married Leonard Arthur Pfeister in North Platte. Lavella was mainly a stay-at-home mother but had worked for Zenith Radio Corporation and Brower Construction in Iowa and for Karl’s Appliances and The First Group in North Platte. She retired in 2007 from The First Group.
Lavella enjoyed reading (especially books by Earnest Hemmingway) and as a child learned about the Bible Jehovah’s Witnesses. She also liked gardening and yard work but Lavella’s greatest passion in life was her family.
Lavella is survived by her husband, Leonard Pfeister, and son, Joseph Pfeister, both of North Platte; two daughters, Nicole (Justin) Steinhauser, of Lincoln, NE and Mary (Kevin) Stewart, of North Platte; five grandchildren, Aaron, Isaiah, Isabella, Natalie and Cassie; and a great-grandson, KamRyn.
She is also survived by four sisters, Glendin Patrick and Janie (Dale) Newtson, of North Platte, Orpha (Terry) Walker, of Cozad, NE, and Johnette (Fredrick) Long, of New Orleans, LA; three brothers, John (Lora) Garner, of Gothenburg, NE and Don Garner and John Hanson, both of North Platte; her aunt, Marymae (Don) Seery, of North Platte; sisters-in-law, Judy Pfeister and Linda (Jack) Beam, all of Sioux City, IA, and Karen (Steve) Carlson, of Des Moines, IA; brothers-in-law, Louis Pfeister, of Holyrood, KS, Gary (Nancy) Pfeister, of St. Michael, MN, Charles (Mary Kaye) Pfeister, of Sioux Center, IA, and James (Sue) Pfeister, of Sioux City, IA; several nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Demar Garner and Ethel Hanson, and stepfather, Gerald Hanson; her sister, Leona “Lee” Webster; a brother-in-law, Bradford Patrick; her niece, baby Walker; and a nephew, J.D. Garner.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. John David Lindenberger
John David Lindenberger, 46, of North Platte, passed away Dec. 18, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center, after a battle with leukemia. He was born Sept 8, 1967 to David Allen and Karen Kay (Grose) Lindenberger at Englewood, CO. He graduated Farmington High School in Farmington, New Mexico. On Feb. 4, 2006, he was united in marriage to Sali Gale in North Platte, NE. John was employed for 8 years as a news editor at Holyoke Enterprise, 5 years as education reporter for The North Platte Telegraph and for the last three and half years he was a mentor coordinator for Community Connections. He enjoyed coin collecting, model trains, and geocaching. He attended Bethel Church, was president for the board of Rape and Domestic Abuse and on the board of directors for Lincoln County CASA. John is survived by his wife, Sali; son, Joshua both of North Platte; his parents of Arvada, CO; two brothers, Jeff (Lisa) Lindenberger of Arvada, CO and James (Tracy) Lindenberger of Jackson, CA; nieces, Anna and Alex; nephew, Zack; an aunt, Doris Donaldson; a cousin, Tracy Donaldson and her son, Andrew. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Sat. Dec. 21, 2013 at Bethel Church with Rev. Dan Reimer officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Mentoring Program or the Lindenberger Family. Zalia Mae Reynolds
Zalia Mae Reynolds, age 84 of Longmont, CO, passed away December 16, 2013 at a nursing facility in Longmont, CO.
Zalia was born in Wilcox, NE on May 20, 1929 to Arthur and Eulah (Jay) Jackson. She attended schools at Wilcox, Ogallala and North Platte. In their teens, during WWII, Zalia and her twin sister Zatha, delivered Western Union telegrams. They shared a bicycle and were instructed to never leave a telegram if only one person was at home. She married Russell David Reynolds on April 15, 1948 in their pastor’s parsonage when David was home on leave from the Navy. They lived in North Platte, Scottsbluff and Longmont, CO. She was a longtime member of the Nazarene Church, teaching Sunday School and serving youth and teen groups wherever she lived. She was a stay-at-home mom, but with seven children she never really stayed at home! Once they started driving, she stayed home more, mostly on her knees in prayer, as she had six sons!
Zalia is survived by her sons Terrance (Melinda) Reynolds of Fullerton, NE, Monte Reynolds of Colorado, Randy (Teri Jo) Reynolds of Evans, CO, Pastor Brian (Laurie) Reynolds of Visalia, CA, and daughter RaJean Reynolds of Denver, CO; brother Arvid (Florence) Jackson of North Platte; sister Laurie (Bill) Pierce of North Platte; sister-in-law Nona Reynolds of North Platte; brother-in-law Ray Gullion of North Platte; eight grandchildren, Shae, Sicily, Julie, Jenell, Beth, Rashyn, Megan and Alexander; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Tanner, Elissia, Aurora, Carmine, Piper and Gabriel; and many other nieces, nephews and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband David; her sons Raylan Dean and Brice David; brothers the Reverend Reynold (Alice) Jackson and Oris Jackson; sisters Audrey Mackley, Jean Moore, Dorotha Hubbard, and her beloved twin Zatha (Skip) Gullion.

Guadalupe “Lupe” L. Apodaca
Guadalupe “Lupe” L. Apodaca, age 83 of North Platte passed away at her home on Wednesday December 18, 2013.
Lupe was born on November 25, 1930 in Wellington, KS to Herman and Anastacia (Landeros) Caudillo Sr. Her family were migrant workers and she moved to North Platte with them as a child. She worked at the Pawnee Hotel as a bell-hop during WWII when the soldiers and sailors were coming through the Canteen. She also worked at TRW in Ogallala and St. Mary’s Hospital in North Platte. She and Joseph Apodaca were married in Sidney, NE in May of 1964. Lupe was an excellent cook and known for her authentic Mexican cooking. Over the years she fed many people, no matter if they were family or not. She was an amazing, strong, and good hearted woman who accepted everyone and was loved by all who knew her.
Lupe is survived by her children Anna (Jim) Smith, Colleen (Chuck) Davis, Diana Apodaca, Daniel Apodaca, Nick Apodaca, Virgil Apodaca and Sandy (Rueben) Valdez all of North Platte; grandchildren Ashley, Jaeme, Adrian, Anthony, Jeromy, Virgil Jr., Amber, Natasha, Karissa, Cezi, Isaiah, Cynthia and Marcela; several great grandchildren; siblings Shirley Garcia of Denver, Carmen Gonzales of North Platte, Jennie Lope of North Platte, Herman Caudillo, Jr. of North Glenn, CO and Manuel Caudillo of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joseph Apodaca; and siblings Tony, John, Nellie, Frank, Hoover and Isaac Caudillo.

Lorna Bell McCaslin
Lorna Bell McCaslin, 86, of North Platte, passed away December 13, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born April 23, 1927 to Dennis and Lois Cruise. She grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School. On August 16, 1949, she was united in marriage to R. V. McCaslin at North Platte. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen A. McCaslin; her sons, Dennis and Pat (Tina) McCaslin; grandchildren, Kevin, Susan and Owen; and great grandchildren, Lesley, Kara, Danica, Abby and Alec. Marilyn E. Harris
Marilyn E. Harris, 92, of North Platte, passed away Dec. 15, 2013 at North Platte Care Center.
Marilyn Ella Mulcahy was born April 19, 1921 to Thomas and Gladys (Bruce) Mulcahy in Gordon, NE. Marilyn graduated from Clinton High School.
She married Robert James Harris in Chadron, NE on Jan. 29, 1941. Marilyn worked at home as a homemaker as well as a farm hand and loving care giver to their many animals and eight children.
Marilyn and Robert spent most of their years working on their farms in western Nebraska. In 1966, they moved to Chadron, where both Marilyn and Robert worked at Chadron State College. Later, they moved to North Platte, where Robert and his sons owned and operated Harris Woodcraft and Marilyn worked at Linden Manor. Many years later, they moved to Gordon, NE.
Marilyn attended the Nazarene Church in Chadron, Nazarene Church and First Church of God in North Platte and the First Church of God in Gordon, NE.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and caring for others. She loved writing poems and sharing her faith with others.
She is survived by her seven children; Ronald James Harris of Cheyenne, WY, Phillip Thomas (Bev) Harris, Nancy Elizabeth (John) Rice, Eleanor Gladys (Ed) Roth all of Punta Gorda, FL, Elaine Carol Zobel of Hoxie, KS, Mark Bruce (Deb) Harris of North Platte, and Karen Ann Harris of San Diego, CA; 18 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; loving husband, Robert in 1994; her son, Larry Robert Harris; three brothers, two sisters; a son-in-law, Gary Zobel; a grandson, Joel Thomas Harris; a granddaughter, Tanya Roth; and a great grandson, Nathan Lane Ingalls.

Jesse Ryan Hornbacher
Jesse Ryan Hornbacher, age 27, of North Platte passed away, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at his home. He was born June 10, 1986 in North Platte to Michael and Shari (Comer) Hornbacher. He attended elementary school in North Platte and later Grand Island Public Schools. When he was a boy he received the Presidential Athletic Award for being in such good shape. Jesse was an avid skateboarder. He went through Lord knows how many boards in his life. He also loved to tinker with things. This led him to become a skilled and detailed craftsman and artist and to fix and work on cars. He also was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed horses, camping, fishing and just being in nature. Jesse’s happiest times were when he was with his family, especially his son, Kasson. He was always good with kids and his son was the light of his life.
Survivors include his son, Kasson Hornbacher of North Platte; mother, Shari (Paul) Jaskierny of Vancouver, WA.; father Michael Hornbacher of Cheyenne, WY.; step father James McClellen of Grand Island; three sisters, Amanda Caudillo of North Platte, Tiffany (Shawn Uhrich) and Stephanie (DJ Muir) McClellen both of Grand Island; a brother Kory McClellen of Grand Island; grandparents Jim and Wanda Hornbacher of North Platte, Tom Comer of Germantown, TN. and Jack McClellan of North Platte; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Sharon K. Williams.
