Diana Lynn “Bomber” Nash

Diana Lynn “Bomber” Nash, 51, of Sutherland, NE, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at her home in Sutherland.

Diana was born March 7, 1962, at Cambridge, NE to William Arthur “Bill” and Shirley Jean Day Potts. Her family lived in various towns throughout the Midwest and she graduated from North Glenn High School in Colorado. While in high school and after, Diana took beauty classes.

On August 16, 1980, Diana married Wesley Douglas Nash in Loveland, CO and they made their home in LaPorte and later LaSalle, CO but most of their married life was spent in Cambridge, NE. They moved to Chappell, NE for two years then to Sutherland where Diana worked for Adams Bank and Trust and was a personal banker.

She was part of the Valley Christian Church and on the Mentor Board for Teammates at Sutherland. Diana loved her family especially her son, Chantz, grandson, Carson, and daughter-in-law, Lindsay. She enjoyed being outside and taking pictures and became an avid Husker fan. Diana had a big heart for everyone.

Survivors include her son, Chantz (Lindsay) Nash, grandson, Carson, and another grandchild on the way, all of Ogallala, NE; her mother, Shirley Junker, of Indionola, NE; four sisters, Kay (Larry) Brew, of Austin, TX, Judy (Randy) Ekx, of Gill, CO, Linda (Richard) Mustion, of Hershey, NE, and Cindy (Paul) Schluckabier, of Indianola, NE; two brothers, Walter (Judy) Potts, of Stillwater, MN, and Bill Potts, of Gill, CO; numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; and her father, Bill Potts.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Valley Christian Church with Pastor Brent Montgomery officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Robert L. Kosmacek

Robert L. Kosmacek, 84, of North Platte, passed away July 26, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Jan. 13, 1929, to Louis and Helen (Zych) Kosmacek at Brule. Robert attended school in Ovid, Colo. and later served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1952.
On Dec. 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Florence Kraft at Kimball. They lived in the communities of Ogallala, Wallace, Paxton, and eventually in North Platte. They owned and operated the Wallace Cafe and then began a construction company with his son.
Robert loved his family, fishing, and playing cards. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, of North Platte; his daughters, Cindy (Tim) Lundvall and Patty (Larry) O’Brien, both of Wallace, Cathy Garrett, of North Platte; his son, Bob (Lisa) Kosmacek,of North Platte; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and friends, including the Armstrong families of Ogallala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd (Sonny); his sister, Louise; his grandson, Cole Frederick, and a son-in-law, Bud Garrett.

Judith Ann “Judy” White

Judith Ann “Judy” White, 69, of North Platte, NE, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013, surrounded by her family at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

Judy was born September 22, 1943, to Hilbert Edward “Boss” and Virginia Marie Curtis Waechter at North Platte, NE where she grew up. Judy graduated from St. Patrick’s High School with the class of 1961 then went to the Denver School of Business where she met Ramond G. Krzykowski. They were married in 1962 at North Platte where they lived and raised four children. Judy worked for J.C. Penney’s for 18 years.

In 1996 Judy married Robert Jon “Bob” White at Valentine, NE and made their home in North Platte before moving to the Frontier Resort at Lake Maloney. They began managing the Cafe and camp ground there in 2002.

She was a member of the Eagles and Moose Auxiliary. Judy loved her family, friends and nights on the mule watching the sunset. She also liked pontoon rides, Tweety Bird and sunshine and was an avid Husker fan. She and Bob loved to spend their winters enjoying the sun in Zihuatenjo, Mexico.

Judy is survived by her husband, Bob, of Lake Maloney; her mother, Virginia Waechter, of North Platte; three daughters, Pamela Mannon, Amy (Alan) White and Jill Krzykowski, all of North Platte; two sons, Brian Krzykowski (special friend, Andrid Olson), of North Platte and Justin (Mandy) White, of Lincoln, NE; 10 grandchildren, Jami (Matt) Comer, Alarie White (Evan Correll), Melisa Hongsermeier (Trent Sprague), Greg Krzykowski, Nicholas Krzykowski, Sid Simants, Seth Simants, Quade White, Sydney White and Sunney White; and five great-grandchildren, Caden Comer, Alecea Comer, Derrick Kuhlmann, Jaleigh Comer and Tatum Sprague.

She is also survived by a brother, Bill Waechter, of Loveland, CO; her sister, Peggy (Jeff) Orr, of North Platte; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Diane) White, of Idaho and Bruce (Kathy) White, of Kearney, NE; a sister-in-law, Vicki (Stuart) Holmes, of North Platte; many nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins; and her many friends including Paula Patterson and Tom Hongsermeier, of North Platte, Bob and Rosalie McClellen, of Hershey, NE and their traveling companions to Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her father, Boss Waechter; her father and mother-in-law, Conner and Frances White; and a brother, Jim Waechter.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Lorina “Lori” L. Turner

Lorina “Lori” L. Turner, 58, of North Platte, passed away July 24, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She was born August 29, 1954 to Robert and Verna (Clay) Lewis at the naval base in Guam. She traveled with her family while her father was in the U.S. Navy. Lori graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1972 and later that year was united in marriage to Jack Turner. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and enjoyed baking. She is survived by her mother, Verna Lewis of Merna, NE; two sons, Brad (Kari) Turner of North Platte and Dan (Jamie) Turner of Kearney; two daughters, Patti (Greg Johnson) Turner of North Platte and Amy (Josh) Allen of Stapleton; siblings, Terry (Jill) Lewis of Phoenix, AZ, Tony (Vicki) Lewis of Denver, CO, Bob Lewis of Long Beach, MS, Kathy (Kenny) Pomplun of Kearney, Jana (Bob) Myers of Curtis and Shauna Barker of Broken Bow; seven grandchildren, Shyenne, Zane, Hailey, Emma, Elijah, Tyrus and Kaden; Jack Turner of Arnold; and other relatives. Wilma E. Loftus, 98, of Howells, died July 21, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Clarkson.
Wilma was born on Oct. 9, 1914, to C.J. and Stella Barrett in a sod house built by her father in Hayes County. Wilma grew up on a ranch 12 miles north of North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1932.
On May 22, 1937, Wilma married J. Michael “Mike” Loftus.
Wilma taught in rural schools in Lincoln County, riding 16 miles on horseback each way to teach in one of the schools. When her husband was hired by the railroad as a relief agent, the couple moved every seven days from station to station and they purchased a trailer in which to live while moving weekly to locations in Utah, Wyoming and Nebraska. When their daughter, Billie Dee, started school, they bid in a permanent position at Cortland, where they lived for 16 years before moving to David City. Wilma taught school while the family lived in Cortland and was a secretary while they lived in David City. After retirement, Wilma and Mike again purchased a trailer and then an RV, so they could travel.
During her lifetime, Wilma lived in Nebraska, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, California, Texas, Missouri, New Mexico and Alaska. In her 70s, Wilma learned to use a computer so she could write a book about her life and another about her husband’s life. When the couple could no longer travel, they made their home with their daughter Gin in San Francisco, Calif., and Truth or Consequences, N.M.
Following her husband’s death, Wilma lived with Gin in Anchorage, Alaska, and in May 2011 she moved to Nebraska to live with her daughter, Billie Dee. In November 2012, Wilma moved to Golden Living Center in Clarkson.
Survivors include daughters, Billie Dee Baumert, of Howells, and Gin Crawford, of Anchorage, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Barrett and Hadley (Lee Ann) Barrett.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Mike in 1999; parents C.J. and Stella Barrett; sisters, Milly Ulmer and Maureen Van Buren; brothers, Warren (Mike) Barrett and Jay Barrett; and two infant children.
Memorials are suggested to the Clarkson Fire and Rescue or Saints Peter and Paul School Improvement Project.
Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells with the Rev. Leo Rigatuso as celebrant. Burial will be at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Cole James Roseberry

Cole James Roseberry, 12, of Kearney, died July 20, 2013, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
He was born on Aug. 13, 2000, in Kearney, to Dave and Dani (Keys) Roseberry.
Cole attended Northeast Grade School where he was a member of the student council and had just finished the sixth grade at Sunrise Middle School.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was involved with the youth group. He was a member of the Spartans basketball team in Kearney and also participated in golf activities.
Family and friends often described Cole with many glowing adjectives, but one in particular always stood out: “heart.” This kid with the big smile, polite, contagious personality led with his heart and touched everyone he ever met. Beyond his passion for sports and the outdoors, he had a great love for all animals. Cole had compassion for all living things. Although God has called him home, Cole’s heart will forever be living through those who had the good fortune to be graced by his big grin, engaging sense of humor and generous spirit.
Cole was a caring and generous young man who liked helping others and this continued in his death as he donated organs through the Nebraska Organ Retrieval program.
Survivors include his parents, of Kearney; his brothers, Ty and Cash, of Kearney; his grandparents, Jim and Dotty Roseberry, of Dunning, and Dewey and Mary Keys, of Hershey; his aunts, Amy (Stephen) Schweitzer and their daughter, Bret, of Kearney, Mari Roseberry, of Dunning, and Delta (Chris) Myers and their children, Darien and Gavin, of Sutherland.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Cozette Keys.

Cathy Ann Kohl, 61, of North Platte passed away July 19, 2013 at the North Platte Care Center. She was born April 7, 1952 in North Platte to Everett and Jan Gray Zeigler.
Cathy attended school in North Platte, graduating from North Platt High School in 1971. She was a cook and waitress while raising her children, then drove a semi with her husband until they retired. She will be remembered as a good wife, awesome mom and wonderful grandma.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce A. Kohl of North Platte; children, Shawn (Kristi) Kohl of Grant, Lisa (Chuck) Sabin of Cozad and Toby (Ave) Kohl of North Platte; grandchildren, Tucker, Jack and Jeb Kohl, Jacob and Brady Sabin and Mattaya Kohl; parents, Everett and Jan Zeigler of North Platte; and brothers, Raymond Zeigler of Cozad and Toby Zeigler of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother in-law, Ed and Pauly Kohl; and a sister, Mary Ziegler.

Esther “Nancy” Meins

Esther “Nancy” Meins, 65, of North Platte, NE, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

Nancy was born January 24, 1948, at Kearney, NE to LeRoy Melvin and Darlene Velma Tolle DeVall. She grew up in Bloomington, NE where she attended school. Nancy worked in Oregon before she married Doug Meins in Modesto, CA. They made their home in California then she returned to the McCook, NE area following Doug’s death. In 2003 Nancy moved to North Platte where she attended the Frontier House and lived at the Pawnee Retirement Center, Liberty House and the North Platte Care Center.

Survivors include three sisters, Rose Griffing, of Culbertson, NE, Delores Fahrenbruch, of McCook, NE and Cindy (Jerry) Mills, of Bolivar, NY; a daughter, Tammy Meins, of Oregon; many nieces, nephews, and other family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her parents, LeRoy and Darlene DeVall; four sisters, Darlene Nelson, Patty Snell, Mary Osborn and Penny Havel; and six brothers-in-law, Delbert Nelson, Glen Snell, Larry Osborn, Ray Havel, David Fahrenbruch and Norvin Griffing.

Donald Franklin “Don” Mallory

Donald Franklin “Don” Mallory, 92, of Mullen died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial Rest Home. Donald Franklin Mallory was born to John and Fay (Patterson) Mallory on January 12, 1921. Don graduated from Thedford High School with the class of 1939. In 1944 he joined the Air Force and flew 55 missions in the European Theater of Operations during WWII as a gunner.
After returning to the States in 1945, Don married Mariola Stokes of Timmonsville S.C. on January 27, 1945 in Florence, S.C. He attended the University of Nebraska for one year then transferred to the University of S.C. where he received a B.S. degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Mechanical Engineering in 1950. Upon graduation he returned to the Sandhills to work with his father John in the gravel business. In 1961 John retired and Don took over the business. Don operated the business until 1991 at the age of 71. His beloved Mariola passed away on February 19, 2011. Don was an active member of the Mullen United Methodist Church., American Legion Post #109 and VFW #5541. Don is survived by three children Gail (Rod) Steinacher ,grandchild Ashley (Tom )Burt , great grandchildren Maddie and Henry, grandchild Lindsay (Michael) Masteller, great grandchildren Emmit and Leo; Alan (Diane) Mallory, grandchild Sarah ( Sean) Riley, great grandchildren Mary and Rebekah; Jan (Dan) Taaffe, grandchildren Mallory and Cameron; a sister Betty Meisinger, a brother Stan (Jerre) Mallory and many nephews and nieces.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Twyla (Walt) Canaday and brother-in-law Don Meisinger. Services will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM MDT at United Methodist Church in Mullen. Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM MDT at the Mullen Funeral Home. Dollie Faye Schroeder, 94, of North Platte, NE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the North Platte Care Center.

Dollie was the fifth child born to Harry G. and Lena Zierlein Lamb on June 8, 1919, at Stapleton, NE. She grew up in North Platte and the Nebraska Sandhills area and spent a year with her grandparents in Santa Cruz, CA. Dollie graduated from McPherson County High School at Tryon, NE then earned a Business Degree from a college in Denver, CO.

On December 7, 1939, in Scottsbluff, NE, Dollie married Kenneth Schroeder and they made their home in the North Platte area. She was involved in PTA, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed camping, flowers, crafts, sewing, china painting and loved to read. Dollie also liked music and dancing on Wednesday nights at the Senior Center. She was a faithful member of the Christian Science Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Betty Ann) Schroeder, of North Platte; daughters, Deborah McElroy, of Maxwell, NE, Pamela (Francis, Jr.) Wever and Sylvia Schroeder, all of North Platte; a brother, Earl (Arlene) Lamb, of Emmit, ID; 12 grandchildren, Jean (Randy) Hinton, Janet Burbach, Krista (Roger) Cox, Barbara Schroeder, Dale (Jill) Schroeder, David (Krista) Arias, Kenny McElroy, Kevin McElroy and Sandi (Daniel) Benson, Pam (Doug) Schmidt, Blaine (Sharlene) Rodewald and Rochelle (Jim) Kemp; many great-grandchildren; her nieces, nephews and other family and friends whom Dollie so enjoyed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Harry and Lena Lamb; four brothers, Charles (Helen), Fred (Nina), Harold and Jack; two sisters, Ruby (Barron) McIntosh and Rose (Nick) Ponticello; a daughter-in-law, Betty C. Schroeder; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore followed by a burial in the Loup Valley Cemetery.
