Amos G. Assarsson, 31, of Ainsworth, passed away May 18, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Health Systems in Kearney.
Survivors include his parents, Bill and Deb Assarsson, of Ainsworth; his brothers, Josh Assarsson, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Festus Assarsson, of Ainsworth; his grandparents, Elizabeth Strand, Clifford (Pauline) Assarsson, all of Ainsworth, Virginia Oman, of Kearney; his great-grandmother, Ruth Assarsson, of Bassett; along with many other family members.

Gladys Joy Johnson
Gladys Joy Johnson, 77, of North Platte, NE, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Linden Court in North Platte.
Gladys was born June 6, 1935, at Cozad, NE to John Henry and Violet Mae Lanham Pebley. She grew up in various Nebraska communities and graduated from North Platte High School in 1953. She then went to work for Woolworth’s Five and Dime Store before getting married.
On December 24, 1961, Gladys married Fred “Fritz” Johnson in North Platte where they made their home. Along with raising her own two daughters, Gladys did childcare for 40 years, retiring in 2007. During this time she took care of kids too numerous to count.
Gladys was a member of Valley Christian Church and enjoyed church activities. She loved the Huskers and spending time with her family. She was also an avid bell collector and enjoyed knitting. Gladys had a great love for children.
Survivors include her daughters, Melody (Mike) Ziegler, of Destin, FL and Melisa (Calvin) Davidson, of North Platte; four grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Ziegler and Callie and Carter Davidson; two sisters, Verla (Richard) Moore, of Colorado Springs, CO and Sarah “Ginny” Herold, of Cozad, NE; brothers-in-law, Delbert Greeley and Bud (Barb) Johnson, of North Platte; a sister-in-law, Joan Johnson, of Colorado; several nieces, nephews and other family.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Fred “Fritz”, in 1991; her parents, John and Violet Pebley; a brother, Lonnie Pebley; her sister, Dorothy Greeley; brothers-in-law, Amos Johnson and Ivan Johnson; and her sisters-in-law, Irma (Encil) Kiser, Cora (Pat) Holley and Fern Jenkins.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Valley Christian Church with Pastor Brent Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Ramon “Mony” Vieyra
Ramon “Mony” Vieyra, age 71 of North Platte, passed away Wednesday May 15, 2013 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Mony was born on February 16, 1942 in North Platte to Apolonio and Mary (Zavala) Vieyra. He attended North Platte High School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1966. He married Sally Sanchez and to this union was born 5 children. He met Mary Cordova in 1969 and they married on July 23, 1982. He started work at Union Pacific Railroad in 1967 and retired as a conductor in 2004. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the U.T.U. Union. He loved to fish and was an avid Husker fan. He coached and played men’s softball and basketball. He loved American Legion baseball and rarely missed a ball game. He coached Little League baseball and youth football in North Platte for many years. Coaching was his passion and he won numerous Little League championships, District championships and State titles.
Mony is survived by his wife Mary; brothers Plasido (Cecelia) Vieyra and Richard Vieyra Sr.; sisters Judy Perez and Vicki Dominguez; children Andy (Jodi) Vieyra, Victoria (William) Vieyra-Bookout, Kenny Vieyra, Melinda Vieyra, Terry (Becky) Vieyra, Paul (Meena) Vieyra, Matthew (Lesha)Vieyra, Juliann Vieyra, Eric Vieyra, Ramon Vieyra Jr., Jamie Vieyra; grandchildren Sally, Crystal, Jeremy, Allysha, David, Danielle, Anthony, Brandon, Alex, Zach, Christopher, Noah, Sean, Marisa, Dylan, Javier, Amelia, Isabella, Riley, Peyton, Cristina, Thomas, Alexander, Nathaniel; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Apolonio and Mary Vieyra; an infant brother and a sister Patricia Gonzales Vieyra.

Dorothea Johanna Louise Kampfe
Dorothea Johanna Louise Kampfe, 89, of Gothenburg, NE died May 15, 2013 at Stone Hearth Estates, in Gothenburg, NE.
Dorothea was born on June 27, 1923 to Herman H. and Ella M. Bunsen Ebmeier in Bertrand, Nebraska. She was the fourth of six children. She graduated from Bertrand High School and taught school for several years in the Bertrand area.
She was united in marriage to Reuben O. Kampfe on May 21, 1944. To this union, two sons were born. Dorothea was an active member of American Lutheran Church where she served on many committees and was active in the women’s groups. She was a charter member of her Extension Club and a member of the Hilltop Birthday Club. Dorothea was a lifelong artist, with her favorite media being china and water color. Dorothea demonstrated and displayed her painting on the local, state and national levels. She shared this talent with others by teaching classes for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben O. Kampfe, brothers Richard Ebmeier, Marvin and wife Ethel Ebmeier, and Roger Ebmeier, brothers-in-law Roger Forsberg, Marvin Kampfe and wife Helen, LaVern Kampfe and Roger Kampfe. She is survived by her sons Randall R. Kampfe and wife Patricia of Decatur, IL, Steven J. Kampfe and wife Helen of Lincoln, NE, granddaughters Anne Sievers and husband Shann of Columbia, MO, Elizabeth Plinske and husband Paul of Whitewater, WI, Caroline Kampfe of Omaha, NE, grandsons John Kampfe and Anthony Kampfe of Lincoln, NE, and four great-grandchildren; brother Lloyd Ebmeier, sister Vida Forsberg; sisters-in-law Shirley Ebmeier, Doris E. Kampfe, Joan Wuest and husband Curt, Doris F. Kampfe, and brother-in-law Raymond Kampfe.

Roberta M. (Kircher) Hansen
Roberta M. (Kircher) Hansen, 79, of North Platte, passed away on May 14, 2013, in North Platte.
She was born in Indianola on Jan. 8, 1934, to Albert and Ola Faye (Elms) Kircher.
Roberta, along with her three brothers, was raised on a farm outside of Indianola. She graduated from Red Willow High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Rodney L. Watkins. Roberta was blessed with four children, Diane, Dallas, Dennis and Donald.
On Jan. 5, 2002, Roberta married Vernon D. Hansen. As a couple they lived north of Curtis and North Platte. She felt blessed to share her final years with Vernon and his family.
Roberta was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola and later St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte. She worked for St. Catherine’s Hospital as well as McCook Community Hospital in the medical records department and at Southwest Public Power in the records department.
She was known as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She also loved being Aunt Roberta to many nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would bring a sparkle to her eyes and a smile to her face whenever they came to see Grandma Roberta. Roberta loved watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports and other activities. She also enjoyed working in her yard with her flower gardens, dancing, any family activities, especially family dinners, and liked to keep her house neat and clean.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Vernon; children, Diane Watkins, of McCook; Dallas (Kelley) Watkins, of Kearney; Dennis (Laura) Watkins, of Hutto, Texas; and Donald Watkins, of San Antonio, Texas; step-children, Rebecca (Karl) Randecker, of Cozad, and Rex (Heidi) Hansen, of Tualatin, Ore.; brothers, Gayle (Caroline) Kircher and Ken (Karen) Kircher; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Roger (Betty) Kircher; and her stepson, Randall Hansen.

Bernadeen D. Trauthen, 99, of Lincoln, died May 12, 2013.
Bernadeen was a retired domestic caretaker.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
Bernadeen is survived by her sons, Donald (Karen), of San Francisco, Calif., and Thomas (Virginia), of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Pam, Brett, Mary, Michelle and Scott; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and neph-ews.

Twila Rose Thompson
Twila Rose Thompson, 88, of Hershey, died May 13, 2013, at Centennial Park Retirement Village.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1924, in North Platte to Jess and Esther Gilmore.
Twila was united in marriage to Everett L. Thompson on April 8, 1940. The couple resided in the Bignell area until moving to Hershey, where they owned and operated a local print shop. Twila drove the Hershey school bus for several years and it was a big joy in her life.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Esther; her husband, Everett; her sisters, Doris and Theda; her daughter, Diana Manary; and her sons, Everett Jr. (Skeeter) and Randy Thompson.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary (Leo) Simants, of North Platte, and Jan Collins, of Quitman, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-
great-grandchildren.

Rosemary “Roe” Zimmerer Schmadeke
Rosemary “Roe” Zimmerer Schmadeke, 70, of North Platte, NE, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Roe was born March 25, 1943, in Cherry Valley, IL to Paul B. Zimmerer and Ann (Van De Hoven) Zimmerer. Roe grew up in Lindsay, NE where her parents operated Lindsay Manufacturing and she graduated from Lindsay Holy Family High School.
While in high school Roe met Jim R. Schmadeke from Newman Grove, NE, and they were married October 13, 1962. The couple lived in Newman Grove then Imperial, NE, before moving to North Platte in 1977 where they owned and operated Circle S Agri-Sales for many years.
Roe was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was active in community college, took upholstery classes, and loved woodworking and remodeling. She also loved antiquing, crafts and golf.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Roe will be dearly missed, especially on family vacations and sibling/sister get-togethers. We drew our strength and courage from her. Roe is our angel.

Derek William Price
Derek William Price, 23, of North Platte passed away May 12, 2013 at his home. He was born July 11, 1989 in San Diego, CA to D’lise Oviatt and William Price.
Derek grew up in San Diego before moving to North Platte when he was 14. He attended North Platte High School. Derek joined the job corps in Chadron to learn welding, and he had worked for Scott Steele Construction and Roofing for the last three years as a roofer. He loved his job. Derek loved music, skate boarding and his friends. He liked to have fun and make people laugh.
Survivors include his mother D’lise (Dale) Tederman of Sutherland; father, William Price of North Platte; brother, David (Nydia) Armer of Baja, CA; maternal grandmother, Jeanne (Doug Anderson) Tourville; grandfather, Michael Ochoa both of San Diego, CA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
