Virginia R Reyes, 74, of Fort Worth Texas, passed away on February 7, 2013. Virginia was born and raised in Hershey, Nebraska where she graduated High School in 1956.
Virginia loved to cook, travel, find collectables, yard sale and above all she loved her family.
She is survived by 5 sons, Mark Abbott of Coppell Texas, Eric Abbott of Lawton Oklahoma, Phillip Abbott of Fort Worth Texas, Christopher Abbott of Plano Texas and Corey Abbott of Butler Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Nicholas Abbott of Orlando Florida, Chase Walther of Ft. Benning, Georgia and Courtney Abbott of Watauga Texas; sister Isabelle Soto; brothers, Gilbert and Raul (Carol) Hernandez all of Hershey, Anthony (Deb) of Omaha and Michael ( Cindy) of Hastings; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ned A. and Adela Hernandez; brother, Rudy Ray Hernandez; sister-in-law, Kathy Hernandez; nephew, Rudy Rae Hernandez; and niece, Sarah Christine Hernandez-Nida all of Hershey.

Leslie W. Gosnell, 90, passed away February 11, 2013 at his home south of Maxwell. He was born November 19, 1922 north of North Platte to BC and Beulah Reynolds Gosnell.
Leslie was united in marriage to Grace Greeley on June 2, 1941 in Boise, Idaho. Born to this union were seven children, two of which passed away at birth. He loved the Lord and shared his faith with all. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his children, Lonnie (Tonda) Gosnell of Maxwell, Connie (Ron) Bowman of Pahrump, NV, Ivan (Marlys) Gosnell of Brady, Dale (Layne) Gosnell of Weatherford, TX, and Lyle (Jeanette) Gosnell of Maxwell; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Bissell; and sister-in-law, June Gosnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, BC and Beulah Gosnell; wife, Grace; two brothers, Alfred and Bernard Gosnell; two sisters, Alice Gosnell and Mildred Sukraw; and two great-grandchildren.

Vera Francis Oliver, 94, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died February 13, 2013 in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born August 26, 1918 in Tryon, NE, daughter of Charles A and Lena Belle (Parkhurst) Daly.
She grew up in McPherson County, NE and graduated from McPherson County High School in 1934. She taught elementary school in rural McPherson county until her marriage to Chancy A Goodwin in 1936. Vera was married to Chancy Goodwin Sr. from 1936 to his death in 1957. She then was married to Claren Goodwin in 1965 until his death in 1974. She married Harold D Oliver in 1977 and he preceded her in death in 1998.
She lived in several places including North Platte, Nampa, ID; Tacoma,WA; and in Gothenburg. While in Gothenburg, Vera worked for Peterson’s Grocery as a department manager. She was a member of the Gothenburg Presbyterian Church where she was ordained as an Elder in 1976. She was involved with many church activities and Lions Club activities. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and the Former Prisoners of War Auxiliary. Vera was busy with many volunteering activities. She was a longtime Meals-On-Wheels volunteer. She enjoyed dancing & playing cards with her friends. Reading, puzzles, gardening and family activities were important to her.
Surviving are four sons – Stanley (Carmen) Goodwin, Duane (Karen) Oliver, Chancy A Goodwin Jr., Lane Goodwin; five daughters – W Joan (John) Swenson, Thaine (Clifford) Freese, Kimberly (Ken) Crisman, Sandra Downs, Carmen (Stanley) Goodwin; 23 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Vera was preceded in death by her three husbands; her parents Charles Daly and Lena Daly Traphagan; son, Charles Goodwin; daughter, Y Jean Keahey; three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, February 18, 2013 1:00 – 8:00 pm.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 1020 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE, Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:30 am with Rev. Matt Coplen officiating.
Interment will follow at 1:30 pm in the North Platte Cemetery, North Platte, Nebraska.

Gwendolyn Elaine Weston

Gwendolyn Elaine Weston, 90, of North Platte, NE, formerly of Scottsbluff, NE and Detroit, MI, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Linden Court in North Platte.

Gwen was born June 24, 1922, to Clayton Frank and Cecilia Irma Auten Protzman at Detroit, MI where she spent most of her life. She received her schooling in Detroit, graduating from Central High School and Grace Hospital School of Nursing in the Army’s Women Cadet Nursing Program.

On June 18, 1949, Gwen married John Joseph (Wlostowski) Weston in Detroit where they made their home. She spent the next 18 years raising their children. In 1967 Gwen returned to the nursing profession at Grace Northwest Hospital, specializing in obstetrics. After 20 years she “began her retirement” but continued nursing for her own enjoyment at Grace (Mt. Carmel) Hospital as a prenatal nurse. Her family was important to her as well as her work.

Gwen moved to Scottsbluff, NE in 2001 to be with her daughter, Karen. They moved to North Platte in 2003 and John joined them in 2005. Gwen will always be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, with a perpetual smile. She dedicated her life to nursing with a caring and compassionate heart for all. Gwen will be dearly missed and never forgotten by her family.

Survivors include her son, Jack (Diane) Weston, of Gaylord, MI; her daughter, Karen Weston, and family friend, Linda Morris, both of North Platte; two grandchildren, Emily Weston and Brian Weston (fiancee, Stephanie Gubin); and other family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Clayton and Cecilia Protzman; and brother, Kenneth Protzman.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore with Ned Cooper officiating. Dawn Alene Renfrow, 53, of North Platte, NE passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Bryan LGH in Lincoln, NE.

Dawn was born July 28, 1959, at Sidney, NE to Henry Gene and JoAn Chrisman Hauser. She grew up in California and Missouri, graduating high school from Warsaw, MO in 1977. She met Raymond Alvin Renfrow in 1991 at Boise, ID. They were married on January 22, 1999, in North Platte where they made their home. Dawn worked for Knoble Refrigeration before going to work for Home Instead as a caregiver in 2008.

Dawn loved to crochet and do jigsaw puzzles, crafts and scrap booking. She was a friend to everyone and would help anybody. She was a rock to many and always smiling. Dawn was a great mom and wife.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Ray, daughter, Jessica Renfrow, and her mother, JoAn Hauser, all of North Platte; four sisters, Debbie (Steve) Silva, of Roseville, CA, Rhonda (Mike) Guess, of Auburn, CA, Suzanne (Phil) Ramage, of Sandy, UT and Kelley (Mike) Dailey, of Maxwell, NE; two brothers, Jeffrey (Trudi) Hauser, of Irmo, SC and Toby (Angie) Hauser, of Lincoln, NE; many nieces, nephews and other family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Hauser.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, February, 16, 2013, at the Maxwell Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Allen officiating. Vincent Allen Bonifas, 41, of Gothenburg, NE, died February 7, 2013 at his home in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born January 22, 1972 in St Marys, OH, son of Clifford and LeAnne (Frysinger) Bonifas.

Vincent lived for many years in Anderson, South Carolina, in November of 2011 moved to Gothenburg, to be closer to his family. He enjoyed drag racing with his brothers Jeff and Nate, and spending time with his nieces, Autumn and Stormie. Vincent worked as an electrician for Electric Rain.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, LeAnne Frysinger of Munsey, IN, brothers; Jeffrey (Tammy) Bonifas of Gothenburg, NE, Nathan (Tisha) Bonifas of Lexington, NE, sisters, Michelle (Mohammad) Abdulla of Munsey, IN, Amy Martin of Doublin, GA., son, Nathan Bonifas, daughters; Brittiany Bonifas, Shannan Bonifas, Margret Bonifas, Brandy Bonifas; many nieces and nephews and his racing family.

Vincent was preceded in death by father, Clifford F Bonifas, paternal grandparents, Ken and Rita Bonifas, maternal grandparents Dean and Margret Frysinger, nephew, Vincent Lee Bonifas.

Wallace Vernon “Vern” Grogan

Wallace Vernon “Vern” Grogan, age 80 of Moorefield, passed away February 10, 2013 in Moorefield.
Vern was born in Hugoton, KS on January 4, 1933 to Wallace and Bertha (Brollier) Grogan. He attended school in Hugoton. He worked in the oil fields in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, North Dakota and California before entering the US Army, where he served in Korea. Vern met Darlene Vyonne Olson and they were married on October 2, 1955 in Stanley, ND. The couple moved to North Platte where Vern worked as a mechanic at Joe Dye Ford. He then hired on the Union Pacific Rail Road as a machinist’s helper in the diesel shop; he retired in 1998.
Vern enjoyed raising cattle and sheep. He loved his garage where he was always making or fixing things. Together he and Darlene enjoyed traveling the “back roads” of America.
Vern is survived by his wife Darlene of Moorefield; son Ken (Bonnie) Grogan of Moorefield; five grandchildren Michael (Grace) Grogan of Grottoes, VA, Raymond Wallace Grogan of Virginia, Adina Vyonne (Jeremy) Puryear of Gothenburg, Charlott (Jesse) Hazen of North Platte, Kabrina Irene Grogan of Gothenburg; six great grandchildren Kaitlyn Grogan, Montana Grogan, Jesika Curry, Jayden Grogan – Puryear, Jesse Hazen Jr., Ashlyn Puryear; sister Mabel Lorraine Zimmerman of Burger, TX; brothers Richard Leon “Lee”(Carole) Grogan of Hugoton, KS, Beryl Dean Grogan of Ft. Collins, CO ; sister in law Sue Grogan of Lakeland, CO; and numerous other family members and friends.

Anna Marie Felty, age 60 of North Platte, passed away Thursday February 7, 2013 at her home.
Anna was born on July 11, 1952 in Cheyenne, WY to Charles and Bonnie (Gates) Petrzelka. She grew up in Cheyenne and attended college there after high school. She entered the US Navy, serving in Guam. She was a radioman for the US Government.
On January 1, 1983 Anna married James Felty in Zephyr Cove, NV. The couple lived in San Diego until 2010 when they moved to North Platte. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and covered much of the US and Western Canada.
Anna is survived by her husband Jim of North Platte; mother Bonnie Petrzelka of North Platte; sisters Debbie Brown of Kearney, Joni McClure of North Platte; brother Jerry Petrzelka of North Platte; stepsons Paul (Jennifer) Felty and Scott Felty both of Lacy, WA; and step grandson Cameron Felty of Lacy, WA.
Anna was preceded in death by her father Charles.
