Nyla Jean Fenster, 51, of Lincoln, died Feb. 2, 2013.
Nyla earned her BA from the Lincoln School of Commerce and she worked at Three Eagles Communication. She was a member of Brady 4-H clubs, Bunko Club and the American Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Gengenbach; her brother, William Gengenbach; and grandparents, William and Martha Gengenbach, and Stewart and Elsie Gamble.
Survivors include her husband, Steve, of Lincoln; her mother, Delores Gengenbach, of Brady; father-in-law, Lowell (Willa) Fenster, and their daughter, Dana Booth; brother-in-law, Robert (Stephanie) Fenster and children, Hayden and Marshall.

Services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at Shepherd of the Hill Church, 6901 Panama Rd., Hickman. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Aurora Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8, at the Wilderness Lodge, 1800 Wilderness Woods Place, Lincoln. ASPEN Cremation Service of Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Loyal L. Kohl
Loyal L. Kohl, 81, of North Platte, passed away Feb. 4, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Wallace to Arthur W. and Alma Watson Kohl on August 8, 1931. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On April 18, 1953, he married Bonnie Lee Olive in Las Vegas, Nev.
Loyal lived in California most of his life. He was an over-the-road truck driver for 38 years. The last company he drove for was NORCO, hauling propane. He retired in 1988. He moved to North Platte in 2004.
Loyal loved the swap meet in Gardena, Calif., where he sold coins, hats and patches on the weekends. He rode his bike looking for change and cans to recycle. He would add up what he collected at the end of the year and it would come to quite an amount. One year he almost collected enough to buy a new pick-up. Family was very important and he visited as much as possible.
When his wife Bonnie passed he was heartbroken – she was his one and only, and they were married for 50 years. Loyal was a fun-loving man who will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alma Kohl; his wife, Bonnie; his son, Larry Kohl; his sisters, Delilah Kohl and Karren Binegar; and his brothers, Wilbur (Jay) Kohl, Gilbert Kohl and Vernon Kohl.
Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Smith, of North Platte; his sisters, Karla Meyers and Le Etta Coons, both of North Platte; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Brady, Robert Easton, Lorry Easton and Jason (Bella) Kohl; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

John Lloyd Johnson
John Lloyd Johnson, 64, died on Jan. 31, 2013, at the emergency room at the Torrington Community Hospital.
John was born on Dec. 13, 1948, at Easton, Pa. He grew up and attended school at Phillipsburg, N.J. He then worked for Binney & Smith, the “Crayola” company, in Easton. In 1979, John married Betty Frosh at Casper, Wyo. He was a heavy equipment operator in the mining industry for several years. John volunteered for hospice work in North Platte and in 2006 the couple moved to Torrington, Wyo., where John volunteered at Special Touch at the Community Hospital and also for Lifeline in Torrington.
John enjoyed carpenter work and he had a handyman business. He loved to go to auctions and he enjoyed working with computers. John also liked fishing and cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; his Grammy Johnson; and an aunt, Diane De La Rosa.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Torrington; his son, John Johnson Jr., of Scranton, Pa.; and his sister, Elaine Sabo, of Rock Springs, Wyo.
John was cremated and there are no funeral services planned. Memorials are suggested to either the North Platte Hospice or to the Special Touch Program at the Torrington Community Hospital.
Katherine A. Baker
Katherine A. Baker, age 93 of Keystone, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Linden Court in North Platte.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9th at the Gubser Funeral Chapel with Reverend Paul Kondy officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sutherland Cemetery.
Katherine was born June 6, 1919 at Pittsburg, PA, the daughter of George F. and Josephine (Ruelius) Whitnack. The family did a lot of traveling across the United States when she was a small child as her older sisters were each born in different states. Her family ran a restaurant in California and she attended school there. During the Depression the family moved to Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Albert Ira Baker on December 25, 1937 at Cabool, Missouri along with her oldest sister Elise in a double wedding. They moved to North Platte, NE and went to work for the Jim Calhoun family. To this union four children were born, the daughters were all born in North Platte and her son was born in Bell, CA while Albert was working in the shipyards there.
Katherine kept busy at home with her family until the children were all in school, then she worked outside the home. She was very active with the children’s Horse 4-H Club in North Platte, making homemade chili and sloppy joe sandwiches for their trail rides and homemade bread for the Bake Sales. After moving between California, Nebraska and Missouri, the family, on Election Day in 1948, moved back to North Platte from Cabool, Missouri and remained there until 1970 when she and Albert moved to Peggs, OK. Twenty years later they moved back to Nebraska settling in Keystone. After settling there she helped working mothers with their children, looking after them after school and also became a dog sitter for the area. All the kids knew where to go for treats as she made homemade jerky, which was loved by all and she made sure there were treats of some kind in the house for all.
She was a member of the Keystone Presbyterian Church and tried to attend services every Sunday when her health allowed.
Survivors include her daughters, Wanda (Chester) Binegar of Sutherland, NE, Janet (Raymond) Labit of Tulsa, OK and Lois (Leon) Jehorek of Paxton, NE; her son Clifford (Diana) Baker of Loveland, CO; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and an infant brother.

Eugene Ray Seaton
Eugene Ray Seaton, age 74 of Maxwell, passed away January 31, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
Eugene was born on May 8, 1938 in North Platte to Emery and Cressie (Lindenmuth) Seaton. He grew up in Maxwell and graduated from Maxwell High School in 1957. He entered the US Marines and served in Okinawa. After his discharge he returned to Maxwell. On July 26, 1959 Eugene married his best friend Carolyn Booth in North Platte. They remained best friends their entire lives. The couple lived in Maxwell, then Gothenburg, where he worked for the 96 Ranch and Vonderfecht Veterinary Clinic. Over the years he also worked at Booth Service Station, Lincoln County Department of Roads, was a Maxwell Volunteer EMT and Fireman, serving as chief for a term. For many years while farming and ranching, he also operated Seaton Sand and Gravel south of Maxwell. Eugene loved to spend time with his family, he enjoyed being outdoors, he loved history and was health conscious. He was very selfless and was an attentive husband, father and grandpa.
Eugene is survived by his wife Carolyn of Maxwell; mother Cressie Wiest of Little River, SC; 3 children Machelle (Steve) Richards of North Platte, Monica (Bill) Lawson of Waterloo, NE, Frederick Seaton of Maxwell; brother Jim (Doris) Seaton of Gilbert, AZ; sister Cressie Petersen of Little River, SC; 3 grandchildren Joshua (Staci) Vohs of North Platte, Saige Vohs of North Platte, Benjamin (Meredith) Seaton of Denver, CO; step grandchildren Michael (Lindsey) Richards of North Platte, Randall Richards of Omaha, Robby Richards of North Platte, Zack Richards of North Platte, Cody Richards of North Platte; great grandchildren Tadan Vohs, Braxton Richards, Adeliegh Richards and Aaliyah Boyer-Cosme all of North Platte; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother David (Shirley) Seaton, and Lindenmuth and Seaton grandparents.

Korey Elizabeth Huebner
Korey Elizabeth Huebner, 24, of Hershey, passed away Jan. 28, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident. She was born Oct. 5, 1988 to Gene and Diane (Wright) Huebner in North Platte. She attended K-12 at Hershey Public Schools, graduating as salutatorian in 2007. Korey attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012. Since graduation, she has been employed by South Lake Village Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln as an RN. Korey was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Alpha Phi Sorority, and the coordinator of the More Beautiful You Legacy Program for young women. Korey was an inspiration to everyone in her life and will be fondly remembered and cherished by her mother, Diane; sister, Lyndee (Chris) Haertel, brother, Jake Huebner; sisters, Megan Huebner (Kolby Van Newkirk) and Kellen (Adam) Hohman; and her grandmothers, Velma Wright and Miriam Huebner. She will be especially missed by her niece and nephew, Ayzlee and Kade Haertel. She was blessed with many loving aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her dad, Gene Huebner Jr., grandfathers; Fred Wright and Eugene Huebner Sr., her aunt Cornell Wright and her cousins, James and Joseph Holz. Charles Watts, 77, of Ansley, died Jan. 26, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
