Toni Lee Reynolds


Toni Lee Reynolds, 51, of Farnam, died Oct. 27, 2012, at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Viter officiating. Burial will follow at the Farnam Cemetery. Rick Nielsen


Rick Nielsen, 59, of Ogallala, died Oct. 28, 2012, in the Northern Colorado Medical Center of Greeley, Colo. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Draucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Therese I. Keefe


Therese I. Keefe, 89, of Columbus, formerly of Kearney, passed away Oct. 29, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Therese Ileen was born on Aug. 26, 1923, in Valley County, to Carl M. and Ida M. (Mogensen) Hansen. She was raised in the Ord and Burwell areas and received her education at Haskel Creek Country School and graduated from Ord High School in 1941.
On Aug. 15, 1942, Therese was united in marriage to Morris M. Keefe at the 20th Infantry Chapel in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. For over 40 years the couple along with their family farmed and ranched in Valley and Custer Counties and settled south of Sargent. Throughout the years, Therese worked in the Sargent, Broken Bow and Kearney hospitals in housekeeping and the kitchen.
Following their retirement, the couple lived in Ord and Kearney. Morris passed away on Nov. 4, 1996. Therese continued to make her home in Kearney until April 2012, when she moved to Columbus.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching western movies.
Survivors include three daughters and three sons-in-law, Karla (Tom) Knott, of Broken Bow, Patricia (Larry) Young, of Comstock, Kimberly (Jay) White, of Columbus; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard (Carol) Keefe, of Sargent, and Matthew (Debi) Keefe, of North Platte; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris; a son, James M. Keefe; a grandson, Justin Young; two brothers, Jack and Wally Hansen; and a sister, Audrey Keefe.
Her wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Ord Memorial Chapel with Father Mark Maresh officiating. Inurnment will be at the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Catholic Charity. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne Deaver


Wayne Deaver,19, of Grant, died Oct. 27, 2012, at the Denver Health Center from an accident at Iliff, Colo. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., (MDT) today, at the Grant Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Mother of Sorrows Church with Father Mark Pfeiffer officiating. Burial will be at the Grant Cemetery. The casket will not be open. Register book signing will be today, at the Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant, which is in charge of arrangements.

Aneta Engel


Aneta Engel, 55, died Oct. 29, 2012, at the Sunrise Heights Nursing Home in Wauneta. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. (MST) on Thursday, Nov. 1, at the American Legion Building of Wauneta, with Pastor Greg Stuckwisch officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. Earl Isaac Baker


Earl Isaac Baker, 79, of North Platte, passed away Oct. 27, 2012, at the Golden Living Care Center in Cozad.
Earl was born on Oct. 13, 1933 in Syracuse, Kan. to Earl A. Baker and Edna (Hilty) Baker.
Earl graduated from North Platte High in 1952. In 1953 he hired out on the Union Pacific Railroad and enlisted in the Nebraska National Guard. He served in the 134 regiment/34th Infantry Division until May 30, 1955.
On June 1, 1955, he enlisted into the United States Army, serving until Jan. 1956. Stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., with the Sixth Armored Division and 18th Combat Engineer Division, 24th Infantry Division Hg-Hg Co between Seoul, Korea, and the DMZ line near Moon-San-E Rail Head in the northern part of South Korea, Eighth Army.
He then returned to North Platte and his position with UPRR while on active duty in the National Guard on June 1, 1957, serving until Jan. 30, 1958.
In returning to North Platte he met and married Jeanette L. Jensen. They were married on Feb. 8, 1958, at Julesburg, Colo. From the blessed union three sons were born, Michael, Mark and Jeffrey.
Earl was baptized in the Church of Christ in Julesburg, Colo., in 1964.
While working for the UPRR he worked numerous jobs and made many friends. Among his duties he was a clerk, yard office train dispatcher and worked at the freight house until its closing. During this time, the family moved for short periods of time to Julesburg and Scottsbluff, returning to North Platte. In 1995 he retired from the UPRR with 43 years of service.
Earl was a lifetime member of the Elks No. 985, Federation Order of the Eagles Lodge 2839, TCU Transportation Communication Lodge 112, Clerks Union 50 year member, AARP, Union Pacific Employees Club and lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 163, and past president of the Julesburg Jaycees and a member of the First Christian Church, where he served as an Elder Diaconate, Men’s Inter-Church Reserve Member.
Earl loved his sports. He loved his football. Any football, but especially the Huskers – he was a big Husker fan. He was an avid camper, taking the family on many camping trips and was a member for over 30 years to the Lincoln County Wildlife Club.
Earl loved his family, his beloved wife, Jeanette “”Jan,”” of 54 years, his love of his life and best friend. He was very close to his sons and their families. Earl was a very caring person. His family and extended family always came first. Sons, grandchildren, nephews, nieces – he was always there for them.
After retirement, Earl drove the handy bus for the City of North Platte and GPRMC shuttle van for several years. He was also Santa to many young children for many years at the North Platte Mall.
Earl loved to travel. He would pack the family up any chance he got for a weekend getaway. Earl and Jan went on numerous trips. After retiring from the railroad they would head south for the winter. Many trips were made traveling with dear friends.
They also spent a lot of time in Branson, Mo. For two winters Earl worked in Branson for country singer Roy Clark as an usher. He loved music and he was a great dancer and loved it. He loved the concerts and treasured the memories of hanging out backstage with Roy Clark. That was his favorite job.
Earl was loved and cherished by many and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette “”Jan,”” of North Platte; sons, Michael E. (Cinda) and Mark A., all of North Platte; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth Baker Potter, of Greeley, Colo.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; youngest son, Jeffrey Scott; sisters, Ella Higgins, of Iowa, and Elsie Mannon, of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a great-grandson, Brandon Schulkey.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church and online condolences may be shared at adamsswanson.com.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at the First Christian Church, with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Ann Dailey


Marie Ann Dailey, age 92 of North Platte, passed away October 26, 2012. Marie was born on April 17, 1920 in Schuyler, NE to Joseph and Emma (Knapp) Dubsky. She was one of twelve children and attended Schuyler schools. Marie worked in the family’s grocery store, and in her younger days went dancing almost every Saturday with her sisters and brothers. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing at Creighton University in Omaha, NE in 1941.
On October 25, 1941 Marie married Dr. Arthur E. Dailey at Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth, NE. She was a loving wife and mother. She deeply loved her family and grandchildren. Her passions were baking kolaches and raisin bread. She grew beautiful flowers in her yard, especially mums. She loved the Lord and was a member of both St. Patrick’s and Holy Spirit Catholic Churches.
Marie is survived by her sons Edmund (Mary) Dailey of North Platte, NE, William (Mia) Dailey of Ft. Collins, CO, Robert (Mary) Dailey of Omaha, NE; daughters Patricia (Jerry) Kaufman of Bladen, NE, Teresa (Stephen) Skibinski of Sioux Falls, SD, Dr. Mary Dailey of North Platte, NE, Kathie (Al Mendoza) Dailey of North Platte, NE; 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; brother Jerry Dubsky of David City, NE; and sister Ruth Stuchil of David City, NE.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Arthur E. Daily; sisters Ella Weber, Martha Schmidt, Marguerite Molacek, Dorothy Molacek, Genevieve Mihulka and Lucille Molacek; and brothers Art, Neil and Frank Dubsky.
A memorial has been established to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or the North Platte Catholic Schools. Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Conner Gentry and Colten Gentry

Conner Gentry, 14, and Colten Gentry, 10, both of North Platte, passed away October 25, 2012 the result of an auto accident near Maxwell.  Cremation was chosen.  Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Brady High School Gymnasium.

Kathleen Joy Meredith


Kathleen Joy Meredith, 62, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 22, 2012 at her home in Gothenburg, NE.

She was born September 16, 1950 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Edwin “Bud” and Kathryn Joy (Doukas) Lindstedt.

Kathleen was a member of Theta Rho, Girl Scouts, Elks Club, Relay for Life, Nebraska Kidney Association. She enjoyed college, crocheting, reading, computer, spending time with family. She lived in Kansas; Colorado, and Nebraska. Kathleen worked as a cook at Slack’s Nursing Home, waitress, Monroe’s and Deli cook at Wal-Mart.

She married Roger Roy Meredith on November 29, 1990 at Gothenburg, NE.

Survivors include her husband Roger; daughter Angela (James) Bowyer; three sons – Victor (Sandra) Bevard Jr., Joseph (Holly) Bevard, Edwin (Kim) McDonald; three step-sons – Ryan (Cheri) Meredith, Scott (Becki) Meredith, Kenny (Dawn) Meredith; sister – Bonnie (Marvin) Howell; brother – Kent Lindstedt; 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Bud & Kate Lindstedt, grandparents – John and Minnie Doukus, grandparents – Alfred and Clara Lindstedt.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, October 25, 2012 9:00 am – 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, October 26, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.
