Jeremiah Butrick-Chase


Jeremiah Butrick-Chase, 13, passed away Sept. 21, 2012.
Jeremiah’s greatest passion was the love he had for his mother. He also had an extreme passion for fishing and spending time in the outdoors along with trap shooting, basketball, spending time with his Dad working on the Mustang and playing with his brothers.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sheyanne; grandparents, Marco Mendoza and Penny Lea Marriott O’Conner.
He is survived by his parents, Jennah and Dominik Chase, SFC; brothers, Chase Maris and Caidyn Chase; grandparents, Dan (Roxie) Chase; great-grandparents, Charles (Roberta) Williams, Jan Chase; uncles, Jason Chase, Troy (Danell) Chase and their children, Brody and Shaylee, Charles Chase, Hon Chase and Therese Ronkar; best friend, Dylan Keller; principal, mentor and friend, Jeff Alfrey.
Visitation with the family will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Braman Mortuary, Southwest Chapel, Omaha.

Miranda “Mandy” Jean Bolt


Miranda “Mandy” Jean Bolt, 64, formerly of North Platte, died Aug. 28, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mandy was born on Jan. 19, 1948, in North Platte.
Mandy was a resident of North Platte for over 40 years. She was a cook at several restaurants, the last being Hobb’e’s, for years.
Mandy was a very active member of the Latter Day Saints Church, teaching in many different classes.
She moved to live with her sister, Rose in November of 2011, due to health problems.
Miranda is survived by three sisters; two brothers; 32 nieces and nephews.
Mandy was preceded in death by her parents, Eunice and John Coville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Latter Day Saints Church in North Platte.

Deborah Lynn Miller


Deborah Lynn Miller, 59, of North Platte, NE died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at her home north of North Platte.

Deb was born February 23, 1953, to Roy Vincent and Hazel Marie Cline Raney at North Platte. She grew up north of Wallace, NE and graduated from Wallace High School in 1971.

On July 3, 1978, Deb married David LeRoy Miller at North Platte where they made their home. She loved and treasured her many animals and was always there for them. She was willing to babysit pets for friends and family. She leaves behind her precious German Shepherd, Gretchen, her horse, Boomer, several cats and many dear family and friends.

Deb attended the Harvest Christian Fellowship and appreciated their concerns and emotional support.

She is survived by her husband, David, of North Platte; her daughter, Penny (Mike) Adkisson, of North Platte; her son, Eric Miller, of Minneapolis, MN; a grandson, Ashton Adkisson; a sister, Vicki (Richard) Stagnaro, of North Platte; a brother, Douglas (Karol) Raney, of Wallace; two nieces, Kim (Troy) Glunz, of Wallace and Kaye (Rob) Monie, of Sutherland, NE; two nephews, Richard Sorenson, of Hawaii and Mike Jameson, of North Platte; her father and mother-in-law, Lyle and Shirley Miller, of North Platte; and other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Hazel Raney; and a nephew, Matthew Jameson.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore with Pastor Ron Lauber of the Harvest Christian Fellowship officiating. Joan Bailey


Joan Bailey, 81, of Ogallala, passed away Sept. 18, 2012, at Ogallala Community Hospital.
She was born Emilyne Joan Friesenborg in Gothenburg, on Feb. 10, 1931, to Emil and Hattie (Nelson) Friesenborg.
Joan enjoyed church activities and music growing up, playing the baritone horn in the marching band. She also volunteered serving American WWII troops at the North Platte Canteen as a young teenager. She graduated as the Valedictorian of the Gothenburg High School class of 1949.
She went to work for the Platte Valley Public Power and Irrigation District where she met electrical lineman Richard Bailey, whom she married on Sept. 20, 1953. After her husband’s Naval Service during the Korean Conflict, the couple moved to Lincoln so Richard could pursue his degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After Richard’s graduation, they lived in Springfield, Ill., for two years.
In 1961, they moved to Ogallala as Richard accepted a job at TRW, where they remained until 1989. Richard and Joan moved to Orlando, Fla., for one year and then Auburn for three years until Richard’s retirement from NPPD in 1993, when they retired to their Ogallala home.
Joan taught piano lessons in the 1960s and worked as the Ogallala “Welcome Wagon” Hostess for 13 years. She also sold Jewels by Park Lane and worked for the Ogallala Sears store.
Joan was highly involved in the Ogallala First Baptist Church, and its choir, and served as a church pianist and organist for 27 years. She sang with the Sweet Adelines for a time. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, cooking and her pet Boston Terriers. Joan was involved with the Christian Women’s Club and Bible studies for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 2010.
She is survived by three children, Susan Bailey, of Ogallala, Greg Bailey, of Gainesville, Fla., and Tim Bailey, of Ogallala; two brothers, Nelton (Ruth) Friesenborg, of Sun City West, Ariz., and Gaylan (Leona) Friesenborg, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Ramona Benjamin, of North Platte, and Delores Rodine, of Gothenburg; six grandchildren, Kai, Karli, Jamie, Samuel, Molly and Adam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Ogallala First Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Tschetter officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. (CDT) on Tuesday, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, at Draucker Funeral Home.

Florence M. White-Mohr


Florence M. White-Mohr, 94, of Elwood, formerly of Lexington, passed away Sept. 20, 2012, at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood.
Florence was born on Nov. 23, 1917, in Keota, Colo., to Benjamin Fremont and Lula Myrtle (Hodgson) Rhoadarmer. Florence grew up in Keota, where she attended school, graduating from Keota High School in 1934. Florence played basketball while in high school. She then went on to further her education at Kearney State Teacher’s College. She received her teaching certificate and taught school for one year.
She was united in marriage to Earl R. White on May 7, 1939, at the Fairhaven Baptist Church, between Lexington and Overton. Six children were blessed to this marriage, Phyllis, Richard, Norma, Mary Jane, Bobby and Jerry. Earl preceded her in death, after 41 years of marriage on June 18, 1980. Florence was then married to Melvin Mohr on Jan. 4, 1996, in Sumner. He also preceded her in death on June 24, 1999.
Florence was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always active in her church and church was a very huge part of her life. She was a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church, First Christian Church and has been an active member of the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington since August of 1990. Florence was also very active in the Grand Generation Center, helped with Meals-on-Wheels, Bible study groups, Cloghoppers and various activities and programs in the Center.
She was Earl’s “right hand man” on the farm and could fix anything from mowers to pickup trucks. She enjoyed growing a large vegetable garden and tending her flower gardens. She loved to travel, read and kept personal journals her entire life. Florence was a friend to all and never met a stranger. She will be so very missed.
Survivors include her children, Bob (Judy) White, of Grand Island, Jerry (Becky) White, of Hornick, Iowa, Mary Jane (Ray) Hinrichsen, of Grand Island, and Phyllis Kracman, of North Platte; two brothers, Vern Rhoadarmer, of Greeley, Colo., and Clyde Rhoadarmer, of Overton; two sisters, Flora (Harley) Hines, of Medford, Ore., and Zella Day, of Miller. Florence is also survived by son-in-law, Amen (Elise) Abood, of Kearney; daughter-in-law, Lynette White, of Lexington; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Florence was preceded in death in addition to her husbands; by son, Richard White; daughter, Norma Abood; two grandchildren, Renae White and Chuck White; and two sisters, Bertha Havens and Ruth Hines.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington with Pastor Duane Russell officiating. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

William Frederick Burford


William Frederick Burford, age 84, of North Platte, passed away September 8, 2012 at Centennial Park Retirement Park. He was born March 23, 1928 in Grand Junction, CO to Darwin and Neva Bragg Burford.

During high school Bill played football. On the summer breaks he and his older brother Lee worked in Idaho to eradicate Pine Beetles and herded sheep on Red Mountain Pass in Colorado. In 1946, after high school Bill joined the United States Army and served 1 year in post war Japan. He attended Colorado State University and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. While in school he had many jobs including a window washing business and worked on the railroad on a section crew.

He married Shirlee Flagg August 27, 1949 in Grand Junction, CO. After graduating as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Bill worked in Denver until 1956. He and Shirlee moved to North Platte where Bill set up Valley Veterinary Clinic and practiced for 35 years. He served as president of the North Platte Chamber of Commerce and Optimist Club. He was a member of Nebraska Veterinarian Medical Association, North Platte Ambassador of Good Will and the Moose Lodge. He joined the Buffalo Bill Rodeo Committee and served as the rodeo veterinarian. He was awarded the Trail Boss Award in 1985. In 2008, he among other members of the Buffalo Bill Rodeo Committee was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, CO.

Some of Bill’s other hobbies earlier in life were painting and wood carving. But Bill’s true hobby really was his work as a veterinarian.

Survivors include daughters, Lynne Burford of Denver, CO and Elaine Anne Burford of Boise, ID; son Stephen William Burford of Ft. Collins, CO; brother Pierce (Betty) Burford; grandsons Dillon J. Lockwood and Elijah K. Lockwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirlee; and brother Lee Burford.

Sharon Ilee Tomlinson


Sharon Ilee Tomlinson, age 70 of North Platte, passed away at North Platte Care Center on September 21, 2012. She was born May 30, 1942 in Grand Junction, CO to William and Jennifer (Lierly) Drake.
Sharon grew up in California in the East Bay Area. She graduated from Richmond High School in Richmond, CA and attended Contra Costa College for two years. She married Reed Tomlinson on February 14, 1970 in Richmond, CA. The couple moved to North Platte in 1975, then back to California. They returned to North Platte in 1994.
Sharon volunteered in the kindergarten class at Jefferson School. She enjoyed NASCAR. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making them the center of her life.
She is survived by her husband Reed, and two sons Jonathan (Michelle) Tomlinson and James Tomlinson, all of North Platte; Brothers Greg Drake of Boston, Geoff Drake and Kelly Drake of California; Sister Sue Kintz of California; Six grandchildren, Christopher Arneson, Shaquille Merksick, Jordan Cook (Tomlinson), Breaonna Coleman (Tomlinson), Anthony Tomlinson all of North Platte and Fletcher Tomlinson of Lincoln.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and sister Shelly McKinney.

James W. “Jim” Kuntzelman

James W. “Jim” Kuntzelman, 74, of Windsor died Sept. 15, 2012, in Fort Collins, Colo.
Jim was born Sept. 6, 1938, to Harris “Tod” and Ottilla (Gaeth) Kuntzelman in Omaha. He attended Evanston High School in Illinois. On Sept. 29, 1964, he married Louise Blasdell in Evanston, Ill.
They lived in Chicago, North Platte, Des Moines, Iowa, and Windsor, Colo., since 2001. He owned Capital Rental in Des Moines, worked at KNOP-TV in North Platte and Pelican Lakes Golf Course in Windsor. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, dancing, gardening and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Windsor; sons Brad (Peggy) Kuntzelman of San Antonio, Texas, Kurt (Jayme) Kuntzelman, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Tod (Mary) Kuntzelman, of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Karen (Winifred) Mullinex, of Monet, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Dona Rose Harper.
A Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at Marks Funeral Chapel, 9293 Eastman Park, Windsor, Colo.

Ella Mae (Powell) Hust


Ella Mae (Powell) Hust, 91, passed away Sept. 18, 2012, at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
Survivors include her son, Dennis (Karen) Powell, of Ogallala; daughter Phyllis (Jerry) Hettinger, of Lakewood, Colo.; step-son, Byron (Marilyn) Hust, of Imperial; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Donna (Bob) Brodbeck, of Grant.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. (MDT), Saturday, Sept. 22, at the United Methodist Church of Imperial, with Pastor Valera Heydenberk officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.

Irene Nelson


Irene L. Nelson, age 88 of Paxton, passed away on Wednesday, September 19th at her home. Irene was born January 24, 1924, the daughter of Raul and Mary (Sale) Heiser. She attended District 6 School through the eighth grade and then graduated from the Paxton High School. After her graduation she attended the Grand Island School of Business.
Irene married Pershing Nelson on June 13, 1942 in Grand Island. To this union two children were born, Roxie and Raul. She and her husband operated Swede’s Bar and Café in Paxton for several years. Irene also had been employed at the Bank of Paxton and Crisp Telephone Company. She had been a long time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and had served on the Altar Guild for many years. She enjoyed her retirement by spending time with her family and friends playing bridge and computer games.
Irene was preceded in death by a sister, Lorna and her husband Pershing “Swede” Nelson. She is survived by her son Raul and wife Kay Nelson of Henderson, NV, daughter Roxie and husband Bruce Snyder of Paxton, sister Peggy and husband Jim Lawler of Paxton, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Paxton with Lay Minister JA Welsh and Pastor Judy Gifford officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell.
