Tina Marie Arensdorf


Tina Marie Arensdorf, age 46 of North Platte, passed away August 8, 2012 at GPRMC.
Tina was born in North Platte and grew up in Wellfleet, moving to North Platte when she was in the 5th grade. She attended NPHS and spent her junior year in Sweden as a foreign exchange student through the Rotary. Tina graduated in 1984 then attended UNL for two years, then completed travel school and became a travel agent. Tina married Bret Arensdorf April 17, 1987 in North Platte. The couple lived in Omaha for 15 years, where she worked in the travel industry. After 2 years in Falls City, they moved to Cozad for 3 years, then back to North Platte.
Tina was diagnosed with MS at the age of 27 and has battled this disease with courage and strength for 19 years.
Tina loved to read and write children’s books and she made her family the true center of her life.
Tina is survived by her husband Bret of North Platte; 3 children Stefan, Karissa and Aidan Arensdorf; a sister Dolly (Mike) Mroczek of North Platte; a brother Pat (Susan) Miller of Ft. Morgan, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Betty Miller.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday August 14. 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic church with the Reverend James Golka as Celebrant. Book signing will be Monday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.. Cremation was chosen.

Flora Bockus Miller


Flora Bockus Miller, 93, a longtime resident of North Platte, passed away in Cozad on Aug. 5, 2012.
She is survived by her brother, Chester Bockus; three daughters, Betty (Charles) Peterson, Sharon (David) Christenson and Rose (Bill) Edie; 10 grandchildren including, David (Suzanne) Milleson and Debra (Vince) Vasquez, of North Platte; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
The family will gather for prayer at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Gary E. Henning


Gary E. Henning, 61, of Kearney, died Aug. 6, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney after a battle with cancer.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1951, in Kearney to Harvey and Betty (Saathoff) Henning.
On May 3, 1975, he married Judy Monson.
Gary was educated in Kearney Public Schools and graduated from Kearney High School in 1969. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Kearney State Collage in 1973. He worked his entire life at Cash-Wa Distributing where he was executive vice president. He also owned and managed Broken Bow Wholesale, of Broken Bow, from 1980-89.
Gary was an avid hunter. He was a past shooter and board member of the Nebraska One Box Pheasant Hunt in Broken Bow. He was a member of the 2006 Nebraska One Box Pheasant Hunt Past Shooter Champion Team. He was also a member of the Nebraska One Box Foundation Board. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
His yellow lab “Jake” was a master hunter and a Grand Hunting Retriever Champion. He competed in the 2006, 2007 and 2008 HRCH International Grand Competitions.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kearney and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Broken Bow. He attended Bible Camp as a youth and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Gary was also a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Ron Morris Lodge, Scottish Rite and Fort Kearney Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife, of Kearney; daughters, Nicole (Jason) Henning-McNeil, of Greenville, S.C.; Stacy (friend Jeremy Hurt) Henning, of Kearney; brothers, Tom (Mary), Bob (Michele), all of Kearney, Greg (Suanne), of North Platte, Stephen (Stacey), of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; sister-in-law, Janice (Mario) Garza, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; nephews, Chad (Melissa), of Kearney, Mathew, of North Platte, and Christopher, of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; nieces, Michelle (Andy) Harter, of Kearney, and Kaleena (Brian) Shannon, of Lincoln, Bianca Aravena and Crystal Busciglio, both of Tampa, Fla.; also included are eight grand-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; niece, Bari Lou Henning; and father-in-law, Russell Monson.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, at First Lutheran Church in Kearney, with the Revs. Eric Lesher and Rebecca McDermott officiating. Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., today, O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Nathan Wesley Kirkpatrick


Nathan Wesley Kirkpatrick, 43, of North Glenn, Colorado, formerly of Gothenburg, NE, died August 6, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center, North Glenn, CO.

He was born December 26, 1968 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Dennis and Susan (Trumble) Kirkpatrick.

He grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1987. He played football and basketball in high school. Nathan took basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and was assigned at San Diego Naval Base. Nathan served his country in the US Navy from July 1987 to January 1990. Nathan enjoyed snow skiing, playing cribbage, and hunting.

Nathan never let the accident he was in take away his life. He was able to enjoy the Winter Park handicap snow skiing, kayaking, and white water rafting. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing cribbage and poker, which he was very good at. Nathan had friends that came and took him to Rockies, Nuggets and Broncos games. He was even able to come back to Gothenburg for his 10 year high school class reunion. Nathan loved KISS, he was able to go to several of their concerts. Nathan was even a movie star, he was an extra on a made for TV movie while at Learning Services in Lakewood, CO.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Susan Kirkpatrick of Gothenburg, brothers Dorian (Sarah) Kirkpatrick of Peyton, CO; Nicholas Kirkpatrick of Denver, CO; nephew, Kaleb Kirkpatrick and niece Kaitlyn Kirkpatrick, aunts & uncles, cousins and extended family.

Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, two aunts, and two cousins.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, August 13, 2012 at 10:30 am with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.

Inurnment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.

Mildred Catherine Hale Teaford

, 93, passed away on Aug. 7, 2012, at the Louisville Care Center, in Louisville.
Mildred was born the youngest of 15 children at the ranch home west of Cody, on March 16, 1919, to Benjamin and Mary Carpenter Hale. Her parents had migrated from eastern Kentucky to southern Missouri where Ben traded their Missouri farmstead for the ranch at Cody – “sight unseen.” Mildred attended country school at District 81 and graduated from Cody High School with the class of 1937.
While serving as editor of the “Cody Hi Chat” Mildred met Wallace Teaford, the young publisher of the Cody Roundup. They were married on June 14, 1937. During WWII they lived in Hastings where Wally worked at the ammunition depot. Following the war they moved back to Cody, and Mildred worked at the Bank of Cody. They later purchased the Ford dealership, Cody Motor Co., where she served as the bookkeeper and was recognized by Ford for her outstanding work. They operated the business until Wallace’s death in 1961 at age 43.
Mildred noted in her autobiography, “Bend With The Wind,” that after his death, how thankful she was for her five children including three younger children.
She returned to the Bank of Cody as cashier and the dealership was managed by her son-in-law, Hank Greff. After selling the business, she moved to Rapid City, S.D., for one year and in 1972 moved to Burwell, where she worked as bookkeeper for FWTransport until her retirement.
Mildred was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church, an avid bowler and bridge player. She enjoyed travel – taking her older sisters to Kentucky, visiting her son, Chet, in Alaska and later in Dominica when he was in the Peace Corps, also visiting daughter, Patricia, and her family while they were in Saudi Arabia. Other journeys were to Barbados, China, Jordan, Egypt, and Europe and throughout the U.S. In the l970s she purchased a cabin at Lake McConaughy, which is still enjoyed by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; her parents, Benjamin and Mary Hale; brothers, Tom, Charlie, Taylor, George, Everett, two infant boys; and sisters, Jennie Eley, Myrtle Belville, Bertha Lenington, Marie McClaran, Nora McClaran, Stella Jackson, one infant girl; and granddaughter, Miriam Udell.
Mildred is survived by her children, Doug (JoAnne) Teaford, of Ogallala, Judy (Hank) Greff, of Ashland, Greg (Deanna) Teaford, of Gardendale, Ala., Chet (Judith) Teaford, of Houston, Texas, and Patricia (Jack) Udell, of Joplin, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Louise Goding, of Hastings, and Beverly Hale, of Mead. Wash.; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Services will be at 10 a.m. (MDT) on Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Cody Methodist Church with Pastors Bill Williams and Mark Swanson officiating. Burial will follow at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 3-5 p.m. (CDT) on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Condolences may be shared at [email protected].

Gordon Potter


Gordon Potter, 82, of Greeley, Colo., passed away Aug. 3, 2012, at Hospice of Northern Colorado.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1929 in North Platte, to Edwin Homer and Magdaleana Dorothia Emily (Huebner) Potter. He married Elizabeth Ann Baker on June 26, 1949, at the First Presbyterian Church in North Platte.
He graduated from North Platte High School and lived in North Platte for 24 years before moving to Greeley in 1953.
Gordon was a salesman for International Harvester/Ellis and Capp Equipment Co. for 48 and a half years, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He was involved in Jaycees, was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scouts Troop No. 13 and Explorer Scouts, Greeley Trail Dusters, Elks BPOE 809, and Red Feather Lakes Home Owners Association. He loved working in his woodshop and riding motorcycles.
Gordon’s family was very important to him. He never met a stranger and never forgot a name.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann;; sons, Bill Potter, of Gillette, Wyo., Dick (Fran) Potter, of Story, Wyo., Jack (Gayle) Potter, of Loveland, Colo., and Tom (LeighAnn) Potter, of LaSalle; a special cousin, Loren Potter, of Scottsbluff; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold; and an infant sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Harvey Elvin Moore


Harvey Elvin Moore, 89, died Aug. 4, 2012.
Harvey will be remembered as the architect of a new and successful athletics program in Jefferson County High Schools, where he coached in the 1960s.
Harvey Elvin Moore was born on Jan. 24, 1923, in Leapwood, Tenn., the son of the late James and Jessie Horton Moore.
He was married to Dorothy Ellen Corcoran on Aug. 19, 1947. Dorothy resides in Homer, Alaska. They had three children.
As a World War II Veteran, Harvey served in the Army’s 83rd infantry division and was in the third wave, at Omaha Beach. He fought many battles including Belgium’s Battle of the Bulge, and participated in the liberation of Langenstein, a subdivision of Buchenwald Concentration Camp in Germany.
Harvey achieved many awards as a high school basketball player in Tennessee and as a coach later in Colorado. While attending Regis College, Colo., in 1949, he was awarded small college all-American, achieved two state AAA championships as a coach at Wheatridge, and was honored as coach of the year several times. He earned his nickname Harv the “Hook” Moore with his impressive left-handed hook shot. Harvey also worked summers as auditor for the Colorado Racing Commission at several racetracks around the state. After retirement he moved to Maxwell, where he enjoyed gardening and playing hearts with his grandchildren.
Harvey is survived by his wife Dorothy Ellen, of Homer, Alaska; a daughter, Kathleen Sue (Edward) Taylor Perez, of North Platte; a son, Timothy Joseph (Margaret) Moore, of Homer, Alaska; as well as seven grandchildren, Heather (Philip) Horn, Meghan (Justin) Amy, Sean Taylor, Kimberly Bowser, Hillary Moore Seger, Kristen Edwards, Brian Duncan; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Harvey E. Moore Jr.; four sisters, and two brothers.

Mary M. Hayashi


Mary M. Hayashi, 84, of Peoria, Ill., formerly of North Platte, passed away on Aug. 5, 2012, at Liberty Village in Peoria.
Mary was born in La Junta, Colo., on Nov. 28, 1927, a daughter of Fukutaro and Hatsuyo Mizokami. She married Mike Hayashi in Denver, Colo., on Dec. 6, 1955. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Bruce (Rene) Hayashi, of Peoria, and Roger (Mona) Hayashi, of Woodbury, Minn.; four grandchildren, Michael Hayashi and David Hayashi, of Peoria, and Courtney Hayashi and Jared Hayashi, of Woodbury, Minn.; two sisters, Amy Horiuchi, of Brighton, Colo., and Kiyo (Clarence) Yoshida, of Sun City, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Mike, Tom and Sam Mizokami.
Mary was a Medical Technologist before she had her family.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date.

Daniel Donner


Daniel Donner, 64, of Ogallala, died Aug. 6, 2012, at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Ogallala First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Rager officiating. Cremation was chosen. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and the First United Methodist Church. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Anderson


Raymond Pete Anderson, 90, a longtime Paxton resident, passed away Aug. 6, 2012, at the Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1921, to Bundy and Laurine Anderson in their farm home south of Paxton. Following graduation from Paxton High School in 1939, he assisted his mother with her farm and cattle operation.
On Aug. 12, 1943, Raymond married June Leonhardt, of Sutherland, and they settled on a farm south of Paxton. In August 1950, they moved into Paxton and resided there until he suffered a massive stroke in 2001. They moved to Elkhorn in October 2003, to be closer to their daughter Lana, her husband and grandchildren.
Raymond started to work for NPPD in September 1947 and was a valued employee with them for 50 years, retiring in April 1997. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed as a child. He served on the church council, was a member of the Paxton Fire Department and also served two terms as mayor of Paxton. In addition, Raymond was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Through the years, Raymond enjoyed having a few cattle south of Paxton, attending cattle sales and gardening. Following his stroke in 2001, mobility and communication were very difficult for him. However he lived at home with assistance from his wife, June. He continued to enjoy following the stock and commodity markets, his family and friends.
Raymond is survived by his wife, June, of Elkhorn; his daughter, Lana (Gaylord) Flaming, of Elkhorn; three grandchildren, RoGene (Chris) Bays, of Owasso, Okla., Becky (Mike) LaFave, of Elkhorn, G. Scott (Heidi) Flaming, of Omaha; seven great-grandchildren, Kylee and Garett Bays, Zach and Isabelle LaFave, and Haven, Francesca and Alana Flaming; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Ginny Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. (MDT), on Friday, Aug. 10, at the Paxton Cemetery with the Rev. Judy Gifford officiating.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m., today, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (MDT), on Friday, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Paxton prior to the graveside service.
