June Pauline Holm
June Pauline Holm, 90, of North Platte, NE formerly of Sutherland, NE died Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Premier Estates in North Platte.
June was born on June 22, 1922, at Denver, CO. At the age of 10 1/2 months, she was adopted by Rev. Joseph Benjamin and Ethel Florence Helvey Brox. She grew up in Nebraska and attended schools in Cairo, Lowell, Comstock and graduated from high school at Cedar Rapids, NE in 1939. June attended Nebraska Wesleyan for a year and two summers at Kearney State Teacher’s College. She later taught two years in rural schools at Myrtle School District north of North Platte and Pleasant Hill School District south of Sutherland.
On August 23, 1942, June married Lawrence Orville Holm at Hershey, NE. They made their home on the farm south of Sutherland until 1974 when they moved into town where June was very active in the Sutherland community. June was correspondent for the Sutherland Courier Times for 58 years. She was a member of the Sutherland United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1944 and served 33 years as secretary for Platte Valley Chapter #305. June had been with the Excelsior Extension Club since 1950 and served as line chairman for the Southside Floral Fund since its beginning in 1953.
June is survived by her daughter, Joyce (John) Lamphear, of North Platte; her son, James (Margie) Holm, of Sutherland; five grandchildren, Mark (Jessica) Lamphear, Clay Lamphear, Cory (Tori) Holm, Tony (Tina) Holm and Christy (Joel) Scott; 14 great-grandchildren, Emily Lamphear, Evan Lamphear, Johnathon Lamphear, Jami Lamphear, Caden Holm, Audrey Holm, Chase Holm, Addison Holm, Noah Holm, Marissa Holm, Ethan Holm, Landon Scott, Avery Scott and Mya Scott; and several nieces, nephews and other family and many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; a son, Jerold; her parents, Joseph and Ethel Brox; and a great-granddaughter, Erica Lamphear.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Sutherland United Methodist Church with Pastor Kolawole ‘Kola’ Akinnigbagbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery south of Sutherland. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Dee Ann Diehl-Bartlett, 54, of North Platte, died July 21, 2012, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, following a battle with cancer. Eldora L. Haddock Bomberger
Eldora L. Haddock Bomberger, 79, of North Platte, NE passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at her home in North Platte.
Eldora was born April 13, 1933, to Earl Burnett and Doris Evelyn Richardson Roberts south of Julesburg, CO in her grandparents home. At the age of three, the family moved to North Platte where she attended Cody School. The family moved to Wichita, KS for three long years before happily returning home to North Platte where Eldora graduated from North Platte High School. During her high school years she enjoyed going to dances on Saturday nights and worked at Stone’s Drug Store where she learned to make awesome sundaes, malts, sodas, purple cows and green rivers and met some very interesting people.
On August 31, 1952, Eldora married Raymond “Jim” LeRoy Haddock at the First Christian Church in North Platte where they made their home and raised three children. The family enjoyed boating and taking trips together. When the children were younger, Eldora worked at the Shady Inn Drive-in and Hartley’s. She later worked for Nash Finch then went to work in 1988 as a Para for the North Platte Public Schools and retired in 2000. During her retirement, Eldora continued traveling and worked for Heartland Tours and Travel.
After 39 1/2 years of marriage Jim died of a sudden heart attack. Eldora later married Dolan “Dode” Bomberger in 2004 in North Platte. They were together over three years before he passed away.
Eldora was a member of the First Christian Church and attended the First Presbyterian Church with Dode. She was also a member of the Eagles, Moose and American Legion Auxiliaries. She really enjoyed spending time with her family. Eldora was a great cook and made the best pies and doughnuts. She liked cooking for others, planning family events, traveling, gardening, golfing and gambling. She also enjoyed sewing and recently took up quilting.
Eldora is survived by her children, Gary (Julie) Haddock and Carol (Kevin) Halley, all of North Platte and Sue (Dave) Gies, of Custer, SD; three stepsons, Charlie (Cathy) Bomberger, of Prescott, AZ, Rodney Bomberger, of Cheyenne, WY and Doug (Gina) Bomberger, of Casa Grande, AZ; five grandchildren, Tabetha (John) Dexter, Jason (Gabby) Carlson, Aaron Gies, Zac (Jackie) Halley and Kortney Halley; seven step grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Kristen, Jessica, Casey, Amanda and Travis; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Jozlin, Alivia, Julia and Zander; four step great-grandchildren, Hanna, Maddox, Abigale and Ernie. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Annette Johnson, of Brady, NE and Barbara (George) Leider, of Carson City, NV; a brother-in-law, Marty (Ginger) Bomberger, of North Platte; several nieces, nephews and other family.
Along with her husbands, Jim Haddock and Dode Bomberger, Eldora was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Doris Roberts; two brothers, Kenneth and Elton Roberts; and a stepdaughter, Diane Miller.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Timothy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Lyle Lee Aden
Lyle Lee Aden, 67, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 31, 2012 in Gothenburg, NE.
He was born March 2, 1945 at Gothenburg, NE, son of Alvin and Pauline (Garrelts) Aden.
Lyle grew up northeast of Gothenburg on the family farm. He graduated from Cozad High School. He lived in the Gothenburg and North Platte area. He farmed, worked for the North Platte Fire Department and the UPRR. Lyle married Peggy Atkinson-Johnson on October 26, 1985 at Banner United Methodist Church, Gothenburg. He was a member of the Banner United Methodist Church where he served on many church committees. He enjoyed camping, gardening and always had a good joke.
Surviving are wife, Peggy Aden of Gothenburg, NE, daughter – Brenda Hayes; two sons – Kelly Aden, Joel (Kim) Aden; three step-sons – David Johnson, Mike (Marci) Johnson, Mike (Jeremy) Wonch; two step-daughters – Chris (Randy) Roenfeldt, Melanie Hall; two sisters – Phyl (Karl) Kostbahn, Marian (Don) Knauss; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; mother-in-law – Jean Atkinson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Cory Went.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, August 3, 2012 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm with the family present from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Services will be held at Banner United Methodist Church, Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Janie Freeman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Peckham Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Bonnie B. Long
Bonnie B. Long, 88, of Mullen, died July 30, 2012, at Linden Court in North Platte.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1924, at Hyannis, to Charles Louis Bond and Oma Esthel Elstom.
She married Howard A. Long on Sept. 15, 1947, at Valentine. She worked the family ranch north of Seneca, throughout her life with her husband. She and Howard retired to Mullen in 1973, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Long Sherpa, of Lake Oswego, Ore.; her son-in-law, Tendu Mingma Sherpa; and her grandsons, Kaji Long Sherpa and Chhewang Long Sherpa.
Cremation was chosen. Inurnment graveside services will be at 11 a.m. (MST) on Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Mullen Cemetery.

Alice Virginia Odean
Alice Virginia Odean, 87, of North Platte, NE passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Alice was born the youngest of five children on the family farm south of Hershey, NE on November 27, 1924, to Jacob ‘Jack’ and Olivia Christine Spindanger Haugland. When she was two years old her mother died and Jack married Bessie Overmier and the family grew to seven. They made their home on Jack’s farm where she grew up. Alice attended country school at District 137 through the 8th grade and then went to Hershey High School where she graduated with the class of 1942. After graduating she worked at the North Platte Bakery and in the office of O’Connor’s Dime Store.
At the age of 18, Alice married Ollie Severt Odean on March 3, 1943, in Ogallala, NE. They lived in Hershey where they owned and operated Ollie’s Market for 5 years then sold the store and moved to California. Ollie worked construction for two years before returning to Nebraska. In 1953 they moved to North Platte where Alice worked in the office at Memorial Hospital then Great Plains Regional Medical Center. She later went to work for Dr. Charles Heider Jr.
During her younger years, Alice was active in 4-H and had a Grand Champion calf. She had been a member of the First Christian Church since April 21, 1957, and served as a diaconate. Alice enjoyed helping her son at the funeral home and taking care of her grandson, Brad Boslau, in Lincoln. She was very faithful at visiting family and friends in nursing homes.
Alice is survived by her children, Olinda (Byron) Boslau, of Lincoln, NE and Rick (Rosemary ‘Dodie’) Odean, of North Platte; her grandsons, Josh (Heather) Odean, of Charlotte, NC, Greg Odean (special friend, Robin Barrett) and Brad Boslau, all of Lincoln; two great-grandchildren, Kylan and Emerson Odean, of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Sigrid Wimberly, and brother-in-law, George ‘Bunk’ (Lavughan) Odean, all of North Platte; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie, in 1995; her parents, Jack and Olivia Haugland; her stepmother, Bessie Overmier Haugland Geiken Jackson; a brother, Theadore Haugland; and four sisters, Olga Moorhead, Agnes VanPelt, Nellie Rickett and Berdeen Olson.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 4, 2012, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Timothy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Louise Fern Sheets
Louise Fern Sheets was born on May 18, 1918, in Keystone to Bert and Lena (Cash) Holmes and went to meet her Lord and Savior on July 29, 2012, at the age of 94.
Louise lived in Oklahoma from the age of two to nine years old and then the family returned to Nebraska where she has resided most of her life. Louise lived in the Brewster-Gandy area and graduated from the Dunning High School with the class of 1936.
In November of 1936, Louise married Harold E. Sheets. They made their home in the Dunning-Brewster-Arnold areas from 1936-55. Born to this union were four children, Roland, Dwight, Shirla and Marilyn.
In July of 1955, the family moved to Idaho for four years and in 1958 the family moved back to Nebraska. They resided at the home place six miles south of Arnold. The family milked 25-60 head of cows and farmed. In 1970, after Harold had his heart attack, they sold out and moved to town.
Louise started running the Sale Barn Café and for the next five years Louise was well known for her homemade cooking and her pies, especially her lemon meringue and custard.
Louise was a member of the Rebecca Lodge for 52 years and a member of the United Methodist Church for 54 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women’s Society, the We Want You Club and the Tuesday Bible Study Class.
Louise was a family-oriented person who was always there for her children and grandchildren. They would always call so she would have their favorite pie or chicken and noodles ready for them.
Louise is survived by three of her children, Roland (Maxine) Sheets, Dwight (Brenda) Sheets and Marilyn Rowswell; grandchildren, Bob and Monte Sheets, Cindy Preston, Lori Samples, Brian Yarrington and Cristi Andre; great-grandchildren, Zack and Nicki Sheets, Kayla Pelton, Sheila Preston, Samantha, Blake, Dani, Courtney, Shianne, Lauren and Ethan Yarrington and Chris Samples; great-great-grandson, Oliver Pelton; sister, Edith Jensen; and brother, Vern Holmes.
Louise leaves many nieces and nephews with many loving memories to mourn her passing.
Louise will always be loved and will remain in the heart of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all that knew her as the very special person she was.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; daughter, Shirla; grandson, Randy Pinkston; son-in-law, Edward Rowswell; brothers, Tom and Jerry Holmes; and sisters, Ruth Hakanson and Peggy Smith.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, at the United Methodist Church in Arnold with the Rev. Dale Coates officiating. Burial will be at the Arnold Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Arnold Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Arnold Cemetery Association and the United Methodist Women’s Society.

William James Dover
William James Dover, age 64, of North Platte, passed away July 28, 2012 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. William was born March 2, 1948 in Omaha to Ray K. and Marjorie Diskell Dover. He graduated from Valentine High School in 1966 and went on to attend classes at the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he studied journalism. He became an over the road driver which he did for many years, driving for Don Hagen. He was currently working for Perett Construction out of Valentine as a driver.
His hobbies were fishing, race cars and motorcycles, making his extremely hot chili, spending time outside and spending time with his children and granddaughter. He was always helping people.
Survivors include children, Brad (Esther) Dover of North Platte, Nicholas Dover of Omaha and Traci Dover of Whitecloud, KS; granddaughters, Cheyenne Dover of St. Joseph, MO and Kayla; grandsons, Shane Birdsong of North Platte, Anthony and Christopher; special friend, Judy Brownell of Holton, KS; adopted family, Staci & Nat McIntosh of Broken Bow, Dan Eller and Brent Gibbson both of North Platte ; great-grandchildren, Quade, TyLee, McKinnon and Whitten; numerous other family members; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his favorite cat, Joker.

Charlene Ann Sullivan
Charlene Ann Sullivan, 78, of North Platte, NE died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte after a brief battle with cancer.
Charlene was born March 9, 1934, to Charles Leon and Cecelia Rose Becker Oman in North Platte where she grew up. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1952.
On July 9, 1952, Charlene married Leon Sullivan in North Platte where they made their home. To this union four children were born. Charlene worked as an assistant manager at Buffalo Bill Manor for 16 years and provided private nursing care for people in their homes.
Charlene is survived by her children, James (Chris) Sullivan, of Roanoke, VA, Kathy (Bryan) Bowman and Linda (Al) Fisher, all of North Platte and Kevin (special friend, Martha) Sullivan, of Benton, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Cecelia Oman; a grandson, Travis Fisher; and a great-grandson, Kaden Gentleman.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012, in the North Platte Cemetery with Pastor Tom Wiles of the First Baptist Church officiating.
