Ronald L. Vote Death Notice

Ronald L. Vote, age 73 of Wallace, NE, passed away Wednesday May 16, 2018 at Great Plains Health.  Cremation was chosen and services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Hershey Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Hendricks officiating.  Register book signing will be from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday June 1, 2018 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Francisco “Frank” M. Rivera

Francisco “Frank” M. Rivera, age 88, of North Platte passed away unexpectedly May 14, 2018 at Great Plains Health.

Frank was born August 6, 1929 in Sarben, NE to Eulogio “E.C.” and Victoria (Munoz) Rivera.  He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in North Platte and entered the United States Navy in 1948, serving our country for four years.  After being discharged, he returned to the family farm in North Platte.  Frank hired on the Union Pacific (PFE) where he worked 44 years before his retirement; he also owned Frank’s Standard Service Station for 35 years.  On June 23, 1962 Frank married Rachel Martinez at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte.  He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4th degree Knights of Columbus, lifetime member of the American Legion, and the Numismatic Club.

Frank is survived by his wife Rachel of North Platte; sons, Christopher Rivera of Omaha, and Patrick (Lora) Rivera of Orange Co., CA; grandchildren, Taylor Rivera of Lincoln, NE, and Anthony and Daniel Rivera of Orange Co., CA; brothers Jason of Denver, CO and Nish of Roland, OK; sister Rose Jurado of Murrieta, CA; as well as other extended family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Bill, Joe, Manuel, Dan, Felix, Mary Hernandez, Geneva Saenz, and Lola Aguilar.

Memorials are suggested to Holy Spirit Catholic Church and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.  Christian Wake Service will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Reverend James Heithoff as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Alice Victoria Morton

Alice Victoria Morton, 91, of North Platte passed away May 13, 2018 at Linden Court.

Alice was born on January 26, 1927 in Omaha to John and Victoria (Hancock) Nyberg.  She grew up in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Central.  After graduating she worked in Omaha for a travel agency and transferred to North Platte to manage the office.  On August 11, 1956 Alice married Lee C. Morton.  She worked as a bookkeeper, and then quit to raise her family.

Alice was a member of the Methodist Church, Rebecca Lodge, and the VFW Auxiliary. After Lee’s retirement he and Alice traveled across the country, especially enjoying Hawaii.  She enjoyed sewing, crafting, camping, dancing, and shopping.

Alice will be remembered as a sweet, quiet, loving person with the best laugh.

Survivors include children, Susan and William both of North Platte; grandchildren, William Jr. Kerby, Eli, Etta, Anna, and Roena Morton; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Roberta) Nyberg of Lakewood, CO, and Henry (Jean) Nyberg of Independence, MO; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; and a brother Carl Nyberg.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Chaplain Deb Dishman officiating.  Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.  Visitation will be 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

 

Lonnie Lee Mundt

Lonnie Lee Mundt, 47, of Hershey passed away May 12, 2018 at Great Plains Health.

Lonnie was born on February 23, 1971 in Hastings, NE to Larry and Marietta (Redinger) Mundt.  Lonnie attended Sandy Creek High School and then moved to Ord in 1985, graduating with the Ord High School class of 1989.  He worked at Mormack in North Loup, worked as a drywaller, and construction around the Ord area.  On July 8, 1995 he married Tara Timmerman in Ord.  The couple lived in Grand Island where Lonnie worked as a welder at New Holland.  Lonnie and Tara then went on the road working industrial construction from 1996 – 2007.  In 2007, the family moved to their home at Hershey.  He continued on the road as a commercial welder all over the country.

Baptized into Christ on Easter Sunday by his father in the Little Blue River in 1983, Lonnie trusted in the Lord and his faith was his sustainer.  He loved being a husband and father who would do anything for his family and friends. He was very close to his parents.   Lonnie loved to fish and hunt and will be remembered for his strong handshake and hugs.

Survivors include his wife, Tara of Hershey; children, Alex “Little Buddy”, and Sarah both of Hershey; parents, Larry and Mary Mundt of Hershey; siblings, Michelle (Dean) Brand of Grayson, KY, and Michael (Kimberly) Mundt of Frankfort, KY; nieces & nephews, Benjamin, Joshua and McCaslin Brand, Aundreya (Cody) Rich, Kassidy Mundt, Jada Key, and Taylen Key; mother-in-law, Carla Timmerman of Ord; and sisters-in-law, Holly (Greg) Harker of Omaha, and Shea Timmerman of Littleton, CO.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Letty Mundt, Lily Applegate, and Dwight Redinger; and father-in-law, Dan Timmerman.

Rodney Gene Pueppka

Rodney Gene Pueppka, age 82, of North Platte, NE, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Great Plains Health.

Rodney was born March 26, 1936, in Sutherland, NE, to Arthur and Erma Linda (Hoefer) Pueppka. He grew up in North Platte where he graduated from St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in 1954 then joined the U.S. Air Force in September. Following his discharge in 1958, he returned to North Platte and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad for a short time then went to work for the U.S. Post Office, retiring from there after 34 years of service.

On December 6, 1958, Rodney was united in marriage to Carol Jean Greeley at Sterling, CO, and they made their home in North Platte. The couple had four children and were married for 47 years when Carol passed away.

Rodney was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and P.R. Halligan Post #163 American Legion. He liked being outside working in his yard and spending time with his family. Rodney was a gentle, caring person and the best dad you could have.

He is survived by his daughters, Valerie (Dave) Steffes and Elisha Pueppka, of North Platte; daughter-in-law, Cindy Pueppka, of North Platte; grandchildren, Stephanie Pueppka, Kelly (Justin) Stoddard, Scott Pueppka, Eric (Ashley) Steffes, Sarah (David) Colvin, Greg (Bree) Steffes, Laura Steffes (fiancé, Nick Lee), Brian Steffes and Adam Steffes; eight great-grandchildren, Riley and Reid Stoddard, Nolan, Ethan and Ellie Steffes, Owen and Kate Colvin, and Cole Steffes; as well as other family.

Along with his wife, Carol, Rodney was preceded in death by their sons, Mitchell and Michael; his parents, Arthur and Erma; brothers, Darrell and Kenneth Pueppka; sister, Beverly Weaver; and granddaughter, Beth Marie Steffes.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial graveside service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or at the graveside. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Elizabeth Augusta Macomber Death Notice

Elizabeth Augusta Macomber, age 92, passed away Tuesday May 8, 2018 at the Cozad Community Hospital.  Cremation was chosen and a private family inurnment will be held at Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island, NE at a future date.  Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

H. Jack Fisher

H. Jack Fisher, 97, formerly of Sutherland, passed away May 6, 2018, at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln.

Jack was born on July 30, 1920, in DeQueen, Arkansas, to Harmon and Bessie (Durham) Fisher. He was raised by his stepfather, Fred Lawson, and grew up in the Imperial area.

He joined the CCC’s in 1938 and was a truck driver and mechanic. While in the CCC’s, he helped build the roads at the Scotts Bluff Monument in Scottsbluff.

In 1944, Jack married Ilene Krauter, and they lived in the Paxton-North Platte area. They had three children, Doreen, Alice and Jack.

Jack was a mechanic most of his life and owned garages in North Platte and Paxton. In his younger years, he worked for Nielson Chevrolet in North Platte, Otis W. Beach in Ogallala, Cooksley Ford in Broken Bow, Bullock Chevrolet in Grant and Sidles in North Platte, as well as other garages in the ’40s through the ’70s. In the 1970s and ’80s, he worked for Humphry’s in Ogallala as a machinist. He also operated Frontier Gas Station in Paxton for several years.

Jack never knew a stranger. His loves were his family, cars, car races and Nebraska football. He had a new car every year, and most of the time, they were Chevrolets.

In 1996, Jack married Doris (Dot) Doty, and they made their home in North Platte until 2013, when they moved to Lincoln to live with Duane and Betty Hartman.

Jack was preceded in death by Ilene, his wife of 40 years; son, Jack L. Fisher; son-in-law, Ken Brand; sister, Mary Ellen Harris; and nephew, Duane Hartman.

He is survived by his wife, Dot of Lincoln; children, Doreen (John) Stout of Sutherland and Alice Brand of Jefferson, Georgia; granddaughters, Debra Stout and Shelly (Phil) Compton, both of Sutherland, Melanie (Perry) Sexton of Cumming, Georgia, Stephanie McCauley of Hartwell, Georgia, and Brandi (Mark) Lemon of North Platte; his grandsons, Richard (Shelly) Stout of Hershey and Scott Fisher of North Platte; great-grandchildren, Jayden McCauley and Cameron McCauley of Hartwell, Grant Sexton of Cumming, Rustin Lemon of North Platte, Elizabeth “Tootsie Wootsie” and Natalie “Sparky” Compton, both of Sutherland; brother, Ashe (Connie) Jones of Overland Park, Kansas; special niece, Betty Hartman of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 11, at the Paxton Cemetery with Pastor Dale Fischer officiating. Trump Funeral Home, Lincoln, is in charge of arrangements.
