Delbert E. Tobey

Delbert E. Tobey, 95, of North Platte, passed away January 28, 2018 at his home, with his family by his side.

He was born on March 1, 1922 on the farm south of Maxwell, in the foothills, to Arthur and Mamie (Spradlin) Tobey. He attended rural Maxwell School through the 8th grade and then went to work on the family farm and dairy. He purchased his farm, southeast of North Platte, in 1947.

He was united in marriage to Jenevie Leach on February 28, 1954 in North Platte at the Methodist Church. They were blessed with four children, Dallas, Ronald, Delores and Rollin. Together, they worked the land and raised purebred Angus cattle for many years. In later years he enjoyed traveling and seeing what others were doing in agriculture. They took their motorhome to country music festivals and antique tractor and machinery shows, where they made many friends and memories.

He is survived by his wife, Jenevie; children, Dallas Tobey of North Platte, Ronald (Kim) Tobey of Merna, Ne., Delores (Leon) Friedrichsen of Lexington, Ne. and Rollin (Alice) Tobey of Kearney, Ne.; grandchildren, Melody (Travis) Hansen of Stapleton, Ne., Amanda Tobey of Broken Bow, Ne., Rebecca (Shawn) Vondrak of Gillette, Wy., Justin (fiancé, Erica) Tobey, Riley (Natasha) Friedrichsen, Kayla (fiancé, Chad) Tobey, Jeremy Tobey, Jacob Tobey and Jamie Tobey; step grandchildren, Matt Hiller, Jennifer Hiller, Tyler (Amy) Blake, Trevor Blake and Tracy Blake; great grandchildren, Trinity Hansen, Tessa Hansen, Kailynn Vondrak, Kaidence Vondrak, Kensie Saner, Bentley Saner,  Myles Tobey, Braxten Tobey, Austin, Angel, Kinzley, Kilynn, Adilynn, Colin and Annabellah; sister-in-laws, Sandra Tobey and Treva Lynes; brother-in-law, Ebert Leach and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Donald; brothers Dale and Milton (Carolyn) Tobey and sister-in-law Carolyn (Milton) Tobey.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Robin Storer officiating.  Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Della Irene Baker

Della Irene Baker, age 92 of Maywood, passed away Saturday January 27, 2018 at Great Plains Health.

Della was born November 8, 1925 in Valentine, NE to William and Winifred (Read) Foster.  She married Douglas Joseph Baker on May 3, 1944 in Ainsworth, NE and to this union 4 children were born, Douglas Lynn, Beverly Diane, Timothy Grant and Bruce Allen.  The couple lived in Valentine, NE until 1948 at which time they moved to the Goose Creek Area Ranch until 1964.  They lived in North Platte until 1974, and the last 44 years have lived in Maywood area.  Della worked at Beeline Motor Freight in North Platte and when they moved to Maywood, she owned and operated the Maywood Café and Della’s Ceramics.  She enjoyed making many crafts and art, and her hobbies included fishing in Michigan, playing shuffleboard, gardening, canning, baking, crocheting, knitting and sewing.  She created many keepsakes for her family and enjoyed listening to her kids play and sing.  Della was active in Rebecca’s Lodge of Nebraska where she held all state level offices and served as president for 2 years.  She was also active in the Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW.

Della is survived by Douglas, her husband of 73 years; children Timothy (Patricia) Baker of Curtis, NE, and Bruce (Tammi Benson) Baker of Lamar, NE; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; siblings Mary Catherine Peterson, Norma Jene Cramer, Lee Brown, Barbara (Orville) Morlang, Sharon Brinda, Phyllis (Dan) Mayhew, Jack Foster and Robert (Gloria) Foster; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her son Douglas Lynn; daughter Beverly D. McCarty; and siblings Ida Mae (Jay) Hayford, Betty (Wally) McKay, Don (Esther) Foster, and Bud (Nancy) Foster; and brother-in-laws Russell Peterson, Harold Cramer, Bill Brown, and Delmer Brinda.

Donna Louise Seybold

Donna Louise Seybold, 76, of North Platte, passed away Jan. 20, 2018, at Centennial Park Retirement Village.

Donna was born on April 13, 1941, to Ross and Evelyn (Greenough) McKernan in South Sioux City. She attended school and graduated in 1959 from Culbertson High School.

Donna married Ronald Seybold on Sept. 20, 1959, in Culbertson. To this union, two children were born.

Donna worked at TRW and Derby gas station. After the passing of her husband in 1986, Donna began working for Walmart until 2007.

While living in McCook, Donna enjoyed sewing, being a member of her extension club and her “unofficial” morning coffee club. Due to health issues, Donna resided in North Platte since October 2007.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; parents, Ross and Evelyn; and son, Roy.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Reba (Bruce) Solko of North Platte; grandchildren, Chris Seybold, Michael Seybold, Mark Seybold, Lisa Kackmeister, Bryan Solko and Kevin Solko; great-grandchildren, Cade Dike, Breahnna Seybold, Matthew Seybold, Dalton Seybold, Alexander Seybold, Tyler Seybold, Riley Seybold, Cage Kackmeister and Jace Kackmeister; brothers, Rick (Mary Gay) Fritz of Texas, Roger (Barb) Fritz of Texas and Randy (Sherry) Fritz of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Judy (Don) Long of Linn, Kansas; and uncle and aunt, Bill (Joyce) Greenough of Norfolk.

Karen DeEtte “Tuffet” Schiebold Schiff

Karen DeEtte “Tuffet” Schiebold Schiff, 77, of North Platte, passed away at Linden Court after a short battle with leukemia on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

Karen was born August 4, 1940, to Karl Otto and Margaret Jean Elizabeth Deck Schiebold in Minneapolis, MN. When she was a toddler, the family moved to Fargo, ND, where she attended school and graduated from Fargo Central High School. Tuffet then attended Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.

Tuffet taught 4th through 6th grade at Adair Elementary in Robinsdale, MN, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and Omaha Public Schools, where she retired. While in St. Thomas, she met and married Donald Schiff.

Tuffet later moved to Brooklyn Center, MN to care for her dad. In 2004 she moved to North Platte to be closer to her sister and family. Here she was a member of the Restoration Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Along with teaching, Tuffet had a passion for retail sales, both as a customer and a sales associate, in which she excelled. Whether in the classroom, on the sales floor or wherever she was, Tuffet positively touched the lives of all with smiles and love.

She is survived by her sister, Meme (Miles) Groseth, of North Platte; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and three great great-nieces; as well as her many friends and cherished church family.

Tuffet was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Margaret Schiebold; brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Jerie Schiebold; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Donald Berry; nephew, Brent Berry; and Donald Schiff.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Burial will be at a later date in Fargo, ND. Trent J. Lindstedt

Trent J. Lindstedt of North Platte Nebraska passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 76.  Trent was born on March 21, 1941 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Conrad L. and Goldie V. (Nelson) Lindstedt.

Trent graduated from Cozad High School in 1959 before moving to Ogallala where he worked for the Ogallala Police Department.  Trent then worked for the Cheyenne Pipeline for a spell before being hired on the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer on  the Third District.

Trent was an avid car enthusiast, and his love of antique vehicles saw him travel to many different states across the country to attend car shows.  Trent spent many hours in his garage working on his beloved trucks and street rods.  Trent was a member of the Cody Cruisers, the Moose Lodge, and a former member of the UP Oldtimers.

Trent is survived by his wife Pam (Jamieson) Lindstedt, whom he married on April 10, 1976 in North Platte, his three daughters, Kristy Anthony and her husband Mark of North Platte, Vangi Stewart and her husband Jonathan of Bar Harbor, Maine, and Staci Ponte of North Platte, his brother, Gordon Lindstedt of Cozad, his grandchildren, Tyler and Bryar and his wife Karen Anthony, J. Taylor Stewart and W. Dakota Stewart, Donavon Lillard, and Alexis Ponte, his brother-in-law, Ricki and his wife Mary Lou Jamieson and their daughter, Angela, his niece and nephew, Paige and her husband John Sweeney and Scott and his wife Tracy Lindstedt, along with his special friend, Mary Pressley.

Trent was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Jodi Lindstedt, his granddaughters, Megan Sparks and Emily Anthony, his sister-in-law Babe Lindstedt, his nephew, Jason Jamieson, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Dean and Donna Jamieson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Harvest Christian Fellowship.  Cremation was chosen. A memorial has been established in his memory. Leona Lucile Hoatson

Leona Lucile Hoatson, of Hershey, NE, passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte, NE.

Leona was born at home, north of Hershey on the Birdwood Table, on December 7, 1931, to Benjamin Frank and Loretta Josephine Arensdorf Ross. Leona attended District #95 country school and graduated from North Platte High School in 1949.

On December 23, 1952, Leona was united in marriage to John Wesley Hoatson at the home of his sister, Monetta and Marion Quinn, on the Birdwood Creek. After John entered the army, the couple moved to Waynesville, MO, then Leona returned home with their son, Russell, to live with her parents while John served in Korea and during this time their daughter, Roxanne, was born.

Following his discharge, John returned home to the family ranch and farm, north of Hershey on the Birdwood Table, and the couple welcomed two more sons, Rodney and James. They were married for over 50 years when John passed away in 2003.

Leona was a member of the Birdwood Extension Club, Birdwood Busy Bee Club and a volunteer for Bethesda Care Center in Sutherland then when all the kids were all in school, Leona went to work at Bethesda, Hershey Public School and the Hershey Jack & Jill before returning to Bethesda where she was the Housekeeping-Laundry Supervisor. Leona was also a member of Episcopal Church of Our Savior in North Platte.

She is survived by her sons, Russell (Deanna) Hoatson, Rodney (JoAnne) Hoatson and James (Tami) Hoatson, all of North Platte, and daughter, Roxanne (James) Neese, of Wray, CO; 16 grandchildren, Benji (Tonya) Hoatson, Julie (Kris) Howe, Michelle (Justin) Krumwiede, Westley Hoatson, Kaitlyn Hoatson, Trevor (Crystal) Neese, Justin Neese, John (Katie) Harders, Jennifer (Evan) Williams, Jennifer (Adam) Daake, Justin (Kelsey) Harders, Jayce (Jon) Gapp, twins, Jeffrey and Janelle Hoatson, Hunter Hoatson and Alexandria Hoatson; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bertha Fischer, of Hershey; as well as her nieces, nephews, other family and special caregiver, Sara Zogg.

Along with her husband, John, Leona was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Loretta Ross; infant brother, Benjamin, Jr.; brother-in-law, Keith Fischer; and sister-in-law, Monetta Hogue.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Father Jeffrey Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Woody M. Sheffield

Woody M. Sheffield, 91, of North Platte, passed away January 18, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born on March 31, 1926, to Raymond and Hilda (Backer) Sheffield in Iliff, Colorado.  He was united in marriage to Marian E. (Poppen) Goforth  in Grand Island, Nebraska.  Woody enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War. He worked as a diesel mechanic for fifty years, retiring in 2004. Woody was also a forty year member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Sheffield; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna (Bernard) Fay.

He is survived by his wife, Marian of North Platte; children,  Verlin D. Goforth, Justin L. (Cindy) Goforth ,  Mark E. (Vicki) Goforth , all of North Platte, Barbara J. (Dick) Royce of Cheyenne, WY, Edward J. (Sharon) Goforth of Grand Island, NE, Stuart O. Goforth, of Cheyenne, WY,  Kevin J. (Kathy) Goforth of Greeley, CO and Roger D. Sheffield of New Castle, CO; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, six great great grandsons; other family members and many friends.

Leonard J. Mroczek

Leonard J. Mroczek, age 88 of North Platte, passed away Thursday January 18, 2018 at Great Plains Health.

Leonard was born June 11, 1929 in Loup City, NE to Alex and Veronica (Kuszak) Mroczek.  He graduated from Loup City High School in 1947 and completed 1 year of college at the Grand Island Business College.  He married Betty A. Bruha on September 18, 1950 in Ord, NE.  He was a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years and retired in 1988.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Leonard is survived by his wife Betty of North Platte; children Sandra (Don) Kraus of Holdrege, NE, Mike (Dolly) Mroczek of North Platte, Randy Mroczek of North Platte, and Douglas (Karen) Mroczek of Omaha, NE; grandchildren Bradley Kraus, Jason Kraus, Emily Kraus; Kristen Gerking and Jenna Martin; Matt Mroczek, Megan McDermott, Katie Mroczek; and Jacob Mroczek, Sara Nelson and Nicole Mroczek; brother Anzel Mroczek; sister Angie Teichmeier; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Veronica Mroczek; brother-in-law Franklin Teichmeier; and sister-in-law Rose Mroczek.
