Nativedad R. “Nettie” Reyes

Nativedad R. “Nettie” Reyes, age 93, of Hershey, passed away December 5, 2017 at Great Plains Health surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 1, 1924 in El Paso, TX to Manuel and Maria (Rodriguez) Roman. Manuel was killed in a car accident and Maria then married Sacramento Ledesma who raised Nettie.  She grew up in Garden City, KS before coming with her family to McCook, and then to the Hershey/North Platte area.  She married Elias “Julius” Reyes in Ogallala.  The couple made their home in Hershey where Nettie worked in the potato fields, counting sacks, bringing her children along with her.  She later went to work for Goodalls and TRW, retiring from there.  She returned to work after TRW became Suzuki, and again, retired at the age of 77.

Nettie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and former member of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Hershey.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking, loved being outside with her hat on, and always welcomed her grandchildren at any age for overnight stays.

Survivors include children, Donald (Tommie) Reyes of Hershey, Belinda Potter of Colorado Springs, CO, Vicky (Jessie) Martinez of North Platte, Genevieve Reyes Young of North Platte, and Mary Allen (Tim) Udell of Plainview, NE.; 20 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elias; sons Felix and Steven; an infant great grandchild and a great-granddaughter, Julicia Reyes; sisters Angelina Ortega and Dora Stubbs; and brother John Ledesma.

Memorials are suggested in her name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.  Christian Wake Services will be 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Matthew Nash as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  The family requests those attending wear casual attire.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Gina R. Jesse

Gina R. Jesse, 45, of North Platte, passed away December 4, 2017 at Great Plains Health.  She was born February 21, 1972 to Wayne and Linda (Biggerstaff) Olson at Callaway, NE.  Gina graduated midterm from North Platte High School with the class of “90”.  On January 27, 1990, she was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Larry Jesse.  They lived on the east coast, while Larry was stationed in the United States Coast Guard, returning to North Platte in 2013.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter and sister. Gina loved fishing, collecting sea shells, holidays, and was a wonderful cook!

She is survived by her parents, Wayne and Linda; husband, Larry; sons, Trevor (Anna) Jesse, Zackary Jesse and Weston Jesse; a grandson, T.J. Jesse; father and mother-in-law, Mick and Barb Jesse; a sister, Tana (Scott) Ambrose all of North Platte; a brother, Allen (Lynnette) Olson of Long Grove, IA; and many other relatives.

A memorial has been established in her memory.  Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com.  Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brett Terry officiating. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 and Friday prior to the services at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in care of arrangements.

Marilyn G. Downing

Marilyn G. Downing, age 87 of Mullen, passed away Wednesday December 6, 2017 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home. Memorials are suggested in her name and online condolences may be

Carlyn Elaine Odean

Carlyn Elaine Odean died Monday, November 27, 2017, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska, at the age of 60.

Carlyn was born August 2, 1957, in Jacksboro, Texas, to Elmer and Marie Robinson. She was raised in Graham, Texas, where she graduated from high school. Carlyn later met Mark Weldon Odean and the two were married on March 28, 1992. Although they divorced a few years later, Mark and Carlyn remained close. In 1999 she moved from Texas to North Platte where she had lived ever since. Carlyn had worked various jobs including in nursing homes and motels until she stopped due to her health.

She was a special lady here on Earth, and now a precious angel up in Heaven!  Carlyn was greatly loved, and will be missed dearly!!!

She leaves behind her family in North Platte, Mark Weldon Odean, Mark Odean, Maci Odean and Lavughan Odean; her Texas family which includes her four children, Amanda Moore, Corey Moore, Sheena Krick and Robby Krick, and 10 grandchildren, Shae Krick, Kelsey Thomas, Kaiden Squibb, Preston Collins, Parker Moore, Alex Conner, Liberty Moore, Isaac Moore, Hope Krick and Katie Krick, all of Graham, and sister, Sharon and husband, Douglas Dyer, of Fort Worth; brother, Stephen Robinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and tons of family she called friends!!!

Carlyn was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Marie Robinson; infant grandson, Jason Thomas Jr.; and former father-in-law, George “Bunk” Odean.

Darlene Mae McQueen

Darlene Mae McQueen, age 97 of North Platte, passed away Saturday December 2, 2017 at Great Plains Health.

Darlene was born on May 1, 1920 in Trenton, NE to Sherman and Florence (Youngman)  Ball.  She was the youngest of 5 children, having 3 older brothers, and 1 older sister.  The family moved to Perkins County where she attended school in Elsie and graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1938.  She worked for Cutler Drug Store and North Western Bell Telephone Company.  In 1942 she married Ray McQueen and they lived on a farm south of Elsie for 40 years.  After Ray passed away, she moved to North Platte where she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a volunteer for many dinners, and a 26 year volunteer at the Bargain Bin.

Darlene is survived by her son Kyle (Sandy) McQueen of North Platte; daughter Kathleen (Jerry) Miller of North Platte; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; as well as other extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; brothers Dean, Eldon and John Ball; and sister Gladys Shelton.

Laurance “Larry” Dean Alger

Laurance “Larry” Dean Alger, 67, of Gothenburg, died Nov. 30, 2017, at Cozad Care and Rehabilitation. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with Tiff Varney officiating. Marcia E. Stoltz Death Notice

Marcia E. Stoltz, 56, of North Platte, passed away Nov. 29, 2017, at her home.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1960, to Norbert and Jeanette (Brown) Stoltz in Beloit, Wisconsin. She graduated from high school in Beloit and lived in Wisconsin and Florida before moving to North Platte in 2007.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, Ryan A. Ortin.

She is survived by Pearl, her beagle; siblings, Shirley Kjelland, Barb McMillm, Lee Stoltz, Mary (Keith) Ortin, Alice Stoltz and Rita Key; and other relatives.

Linda Marie Nutt

Linda Marie Nutt’s work on Earth is done. She went to be with her Savior Dec. 1, 2017, after a brave fight against cancer. She spent her last days in hospice at Lindon Court with her family and a very caring staff.

Linda was born on June 1, 1952, in Kimball to Orville and Viola Hammond. The daughter of a railroad man, she moved often throughout her childhood, attending school in North Platte and graduating from Brady High School. She was the youngest of six children.

Linda met the love of her life when she was 14. She married Louis “Louie” Nutt in Curtis on Dec. 23, 1969. Louie and Linda raised three daughters, Melanie, Kasey and Lindsey.

They made their home in Wellfleet for 45 years. Linda was the wife of a railroad man. She stayed home with her children while they were raised. She later worked at the agriculture college in Curtis as a dorm night guard and as a janitor for the Maywood Public Schools for several years. Everything she did, she did with love, from cleaning to making sure every new baby in the family had a crocheted blanket (or two).

She loved spending time with family, and she enjoyed creating graphics on her computer. She loved sewing and crocheting and organizing. She made everything look easy, especially baking pies. She always took time for everyone, and she absolutely loved going to church and Bible study at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Curtis.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Penny Ziegler.

She is survived by her husband, Louie; three daughters, Melanie (Shawn) Standiford of North Platte, Kasey (Todd) Helmut of Wichita, Kansas, and Lindsey (Corey) Corey of Elwood; grandchildren, Levi (Amber) Doyle of Bellevue, Brooklynne (Cooper) Gydesen of Elwood, Karni (Stephan) Vath of Grand Island, Lukas Doyle of Kearney, Wryleigh, Sophia, Louie and Giavanna Doyle of Oconto, Houston Standiford of North Platte, Kaitlyn and Allison Helmut of Wichita, Shannon Kennicutt and Bree and Bodhi Corey of Elwood; great-grandchildren, Abel Doyle of Bellevue and Nixxon and Sawyer Gydesen of Elwood; two brothers and two sisters; many nieces and nephews; and other and family and friends.

Linda was very brave during her fight with cancer. She had a quiet faith and an absolute certainty of Jesus Christ and His promises.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with the family present from 4-6 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 4, at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, which is in charge of arrangements.
