Robert A. Venezie

Robert A. Venezie, age 87 of North Plate, and former longtime resident of Bellevue, NE passed away October 31, 2017 at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte, NE

Robert was born on March 8, 1930 in Elwood City, PA to Carmen and Ethel (Stephenson) Venezie.   He was married to June Marie Richerson on June 21, 1950 and to this union two children were born, Cynthia Diane and Gary Robert.

Bob enlisted in the US Air Force on October 17, 1948, retiring June 16, 1969 as a Chief Master Sergeant.  After retirement Bob worked at Mutual of Omaha until 1987.  He was an avid golfer, hitting a hole-in-one on two occasions.  He enjoyed watching sports and his knowledge and understanding of the games was phenomenal.  His family enjoyed listening as Bob retold life stories.  Reading was another of his favorite pastimes.

He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Gearhart of Elwood City, PA; daughter Cindy (Norman) Olson of Milwaukee, WI; and son Gary (Merry) Venezie of North Platte: 5 grandchildren Micah (Gina) Olson of Eagle, CO, Erik (Stefanie) Olson of Oconomowoc, WI, Britton Olson of Milwaukee, WI, Andrew (Jada) Venezie and Adam (Selena) Venezie of North Platte; 8 great-grandchildren, Adriyanna and Tony Venezie, Cheyenne and Kennedy Czarnick, Henrik and Sailor Olson, and Riley and Hana Olson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife June.

Dorothy M. “Dot” Curran

Dorothy M. “Dot” Curran, 82, of North Platte, passed away Oct, 27, 2017, at Centennial Park Retirement.

Dorothy was born on April 3, 1935, to Thomas and Martha Pugh. Dot grew up and attended North Platte High School.

Dot worked at W.J. O’Connor’s as a cook. She worked at the Pawnee Hotel for more than 10 years until her retirement.

She loved going dancing, band concerts and stock car races. She would do anything for her family.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents; son, Davie Allen; one brother, William Pugh; two sisters, Florence Devino and Alice King; grandson, Robert Brownell; and two great-granddaughters, Abcde and Nevaeh.

Dot is survived by two daughters, Beverly Polanco of North Platte and Gloria Brownell of California; one grandson, Anthony Polanco of North Platte; three granddaughters, Stacy (Llogan) Veith of Denver, Elizabeth Brownell of California and Sheila (Shawn) Poorman of North Platte; great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, at the United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at the North Platte Cemetery.

 Robert B. “Bob” Lowe Death Notice

Robert B. “Bob,” Lowe, 89, of North Platte, died Nov. 1, 2017, at Linden Court. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Berke officiating. Bernard D. “Bernie” Ludemann

Bernard D. “Bernie” Ludemann, age 78 of North Platte, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Linden Court.

He was born September 22, 1939 at Gregory, SD to Walter and Caroline (Haman) Ludemann. Bernie attended country school at Mills, NE, graduated from Naper High School and later furthered his education at Black Hills State College. He was united in marriage to Carol Bechtold in 1959. They moved to North Platte in 1965 to become superintendent of the construction company that built Interstate 80 from Maxwell to North Platte and later worked for Callahan Implement from 1966 until 1972 at which time he became co-owner of Rodeo Road Equipment in North Platte and Grand Island dealing John Deere Industrial Equipment. He sold the business and retired in 1998.

Bernie was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, B.P.O. Elks, and the Eagles. He was well known for his culinary skills at weddings, graduations, and many community functions including the BBQ when President Reagan visited North Platte. Bernie received the Dale Studley and Trail Boss awards for his dedication to the Nebraskaland Days Celebrations. Bernie enjoyed fishing and hunting and was always building things.

His family that will cherish his memory include his wife, Carol, children, Bret (Roxanne) Ludemann and JoDee (Russell) Palmer, granddaughters, Brooke Ludemann and Macy Palmer, sister, Donna Vroegh, brothers, Carl (Donna) Ludemann and Marlyn “John” Ludemann, nieces, nephews and along with many dear friends including his coffee group.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ward Ludemann, sister, Ramona Carr, mother and father-in-law, Clara and Albert Bechtold, sister-in-law, Mardell Ludemann; brother-in-laws, Darrel Carr and Clarence Vroegh and nephew Bart Vroegh.

A celebration of Bernie’s life will be 10:30 am Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Berke officiating. A private family inurnment will precede the services at the North Platte Cemetery. Family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7pm Wednesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Jeffrey Grant Keith

Jeffrey Grant Keith, age 53 of Maxwell, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Great Plains Health.

Jeff was born on October 31, 1963 in North Platte to Grant and Joyce (Little) Keith. He graduated from Maxwell High School with the great class of 1982. On December 7, 1983 he married Kay Ruppert. The couple made their home in Maxwell. Jeff worked for Paulsen Construction, Cash-Wa Distributing Co., and Overhead Door, before going to work at the Union Pacific Railroad where he worked for 24 years as an electrician. He spent time coaching his children in sports, and coached the Maxwell Trap Team. Hunting, fishing and trapping was a way of life for Jeff. It was his greatest joy to pass his knowledge and traditions not only to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, but also to the youth of the community. He also loved watching Nascar and football especially the Steelers.

Jeff is survived by his wife Kay of Maxwell; children Sonja (DJ) Miller of Brady and Jeremiah (fiancé Kayla) Keith of Maxwell; grandchildren Paisley and Mason Miller of Brady; parents Grant and Joyce Keith of Maxwell; sister Joni Keith of Maxwell; grandmother Ethel Keith of Maxwell; father and mother-in-law Allen and Gloria Ruppert of Maxwell; as well as many brother and sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Evelyn Little, and Woodrow Keith.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Litzenberger officiating. Burial will follow at the Plainview Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday October 31, 2017 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
