Charges Filed After Girl In Skunk Costume Was Shot

Charges have been filed against a Pennsylvania man who shot what he thought was a skunk but was really his 8-year-old cousin in a black-and-white Halloween costume.

Twenty-four-year-old Thomas Edward Grant of Jackson Center, Mercer County, was charged Thursday with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault.

The girl was hit in the shoulder, arm, back and neck. She remained in critical condition from the shooting in rural Rochester, about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Police say the girl was playing hide-and-seek behind the Grant family’s home Saturday night when she was shot once with a 12-gauge shotgun. She was wearing a black body costume and a black hat with a white feather.

Grant has a preliminary hearing Nov. 1. It wasn’t clear whether he had an attorney.

Police say a costumed 9-year-old girl was accidentally shot outside a western Pennsylvania home during a Halloween party by a relative who thought she was a skunk.

New Sewickley Township police say the girl was over a hillside and wearing a black costume and a black hat with a white tassel. Chief Ronald Leindecker told the Beaver County Times that a male relative mistook her for a skunk and fired a shotgun, hitting her in the shoulder, arm, back and neck Saturday night.

Leindecker told the newspaper that the girl was alert and talking when she was flown to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, about 30 miles away. Her condition was unavailable.

Leindecker says the man hadn’t been drinking and he doesn’t know whether charges will be filed. New Sewickley police said Sunday that decision will be made in a few days.

WATCH: The Baby Stink That Caused Bus Conflict

Seattle’s Metro Transit has apologized but says it won’t discipline the driver who asked a woman with a baby to get off a bus because of a stinky diaper.

Metro told KOMO the driver did not violate policy when she acted for the comfort of other passengers.

An apology is not enough for the mother, Nichole Hakimian, who threatens to sue.

She was taking her 1-year-old son to a clinic Tuesday when his diarrhea became an odor issue. She says the driver insisted she exit.

Hakimian says she found a place to change the baby and caught another bus to the clinic where her son was diagnosed with a stomach bug.

Metro says the driver is a nine-year employee with an excellent record.

Meteor Shower October 21st, Thanks To Halley’s Comet

The night sky will show a beautiful scene of shooting stars and North Platte is a great place to be for something like this. Because light pollution levels are always low, the stars above are pretty visible on an clear sky night.

Every October, meteors from Halley’s Comet enter the earth’s atmosphere, creating a nice show everyone around the world can see. Shooting stars should be visible Saturday and Sunday night, the peak of the shower is predicted to be during the early morning Sunday, October 21s, at around 4am. The peak time should display dozens of meteors per hour.

NASA will be streaming the action that night in-case you don’t want to be outside in the cold. Orionid meteor showers have been very promising in the past with displays of 60 or more shooting stars an hour.

Grab your hubby and a few blankets, enjoy the gaze into the sky while making countless wishes that may actually never come true!

Woman Slices Boyfriend’s Neck After Asking If He Loved Her

After reading this, you may feel like re-analyzing some of your relationships that give you that sort-of weird vibe.

On Sunday, October 14th, a 50-year old woman from St. Paul, Minnesota, was told by her boyfriend, of less than a year, that she had 24-hours to check herself into a hospital because she was apparently acting mentally unstable. Man was he right. She was apparently drinking most of the day. After her boyfriend made the statement he left her apartment.

Later that night the boyfriend  returned to the apartment to find that his girlfriend was still drunk. He ended up making dinner, after that she went to lie down in her bedroom. Her boyfriend didn’t want to bother her, so he slept on the living room floor on a bed he fashioned out of sheets and pillows.

The boyfriend woke up to his girlfriend, Dawn Peel, kneeling over him. She asked him if he loved her, he said that he did love her, then she asked him to look into her eyes and said “This is the last time you’re going to see me.”

She kissed his forehead then cut him with a large knife, the victim said she sliced him as if she were slaughtering a cow or a goat.

The victim managed to get away, calling police at around 1:48AM. He was taken to the hospital so he could have his 5.5-inch love-cut taken care of, estimated to be an inch deep and required 23 staples to close.

Police knocked on her door to investigate and was greeted by the suspect totally naked. Inside her residence officers found a knife with traces of blood and other types of evidence. The officers asked her if she was drinking, she replied with “not enough.”

She faces an attempted murder charge and a second-degree assault charge. The victim is in stable condition. Apparently she assaulted him a little while ago and swore to take revenge while he was sleeping.

WATCH: The Jump That Broke The Speed Of Sound

Officials say that Felix Baumgartner has become the first skydiver to break the speed of sound.

At a news conference, Brian Utley of the International Federation of Sports Aviation said Baumgartner reached a maximum speed of 833.9 mph during his jump Sunday over the New Mexico desert.

That amounts to Mach 1.24, which is faster than the speed of sound. No one has ever reached that speed wearing only a high-tech suit.

Baumgartner says that traveling faster than sound is “hard to describe because you don’t feel it.” With no reference points, “you don’t know how fast you travel.”

Baumgartner came down safely in the eastern New Mexico desert about nine minutes after jumping from his capsule 128,100 feet, or roughly 24 miles, above Earth.

Watch This Los-Angeles Debate Escalate To “You want to get into this?”

An increasingly bitter California congressional race between two House members of the same party turned physical when one aggressively seized the shoulder of his opponent during a debate, yanked him toward his chest and shouted, “You want to get into this?”

The confrontation Thursday between Democratic Reps. Brad Sherman and Howard Berman came amid a nasty campaign for a Los Angeles-area seat.

The veteran lawmakers are running against each other because of California’s new primary system, which sends the top two finishers to the general election regardless of party affiliation.

The lunge by the 57-year-old Sherman appeared to startle Berman, who is 71 and smaller in stature, while the audience hooted and shouted.

Berman’s campaign released a video of the confrontation at Pierce College in the San Fernando Valley.

VIDEO: Teen Sucker Punches Teacher In Pittsburgh, PA

[Action happens in the upper right corner]

Pittsburgh police and school officials say a teenager who sucker punched an English teacher in a downtown alley appeared to pick his victim at random.

The attack last Thursday afternoon was captured on surveillance video. Pittsburgh police used the recording, which shows 50-year-old James Addlespurger getting sucker-punched, to make an arrest Tuesday.

Addlespurger is recovering, but he has yet to return to work at the city’s Creative and Performing Arts school.

The 15-year-old suspect has been taken to a juvenile detention center on a charge of simple assault. He attends a school for troubled youths in another part of town and officials say he apparently didn’t know Addlespurger — let alone that he was a teacher.
