Letters to the Post (Where is the Justice)

Dear Post,

I have been following the story about the vandalism to the vehicles around town because I unfortunately was a victim to this childish, senseless crime. First off, there has been one mom on here who has a comment and excuse for everything, I think she is pathetic, but that is beside the point. I feel beside myself like everyone else does when it comes to justice for a crime like this. I have spoken to the police station as well as the County attorney. I really do not appreciate the fact that I was shrugged off. I have felt deeply betrayed by the Lincoln County Justice system, because I was told yesterday by the CA that because there were minors involved, more than likely there will be no restitution. She then explained to me that a similar situation happened a couple of years ago where minors were involved and no restitution was ordered. I have over $700.00 in damage to my 2 cars that were tagged by these losers, and what am I supposed to do, suck it up and bite the bullet because the courts need to protect the rights of minors… I do not understand where the victims’ rights are. I feel completely let down, randomly victimized and no justice will come from this for the people of North Platte. You know if this has happened before with no consequences why not set an example of these kids and give some real punishment here. Don’t we have enough trash to clean up in this community, or some sort of community service for these boys to do for the next 10 years… Why should we as victims be the only ones to suffer while the perpetrators get off scott free… What can we do as a town to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again… Why should I have to step up and the courts sit back and do nothing. Very disappointed in how I have been treated by the Courts and County Attorney, she is the voice of the victims and she’s not standing up for the folks in this town… Election will be coming up can we please bring in a new CA, this is about ridiculous…

Thank you for listening, there is so much more to be said and done about this situation where do we begin as victims to see justice being served…

Signed;

Why are there so many reports of individuals attempting to mimic the Aurora Co. Shooting? Why WHY??

Kris Allen:

North Platte Neb.– The Colorado shooting massacre that took place a mere 18 days ago at an Aurora, Co.  movie theater showing taking the lives of 12 and injuring dozens of innocent people has made James Holmes somewhat of a celebrity over the internet.

Holmes has become a celebrity in many forms such as name mentions, his picture seen all over the media, internet memes with tasteless jokes featuring his idiotic face expressions, and by far the worst case is that Holmes has sparked some kind of movement, a disgusting, revolting, and senseless one.

Across the nation suddenly reports are popping up here and there of people who have nothing left, or are just down-right crazy claiming to be the joker, or bringing guns to movie theater showings of The Dark Knight Rises.

Why? That is my question. Why…Did I miss something? Is there a reason for all these lunatics to act out like a childish 3rd grader who’s not getting enough attention? Is it worth life in prison? Is it worth the lives of many innocent people? Does this make you happy? Does this free you of your depressing torment that is causing you to do this?

I  do not understand. I feel like I’ve made my point. Maybe they are standing for gun control, or maybe they are just a catalyst for change, but they’re too stupid to even know it.

Just to let you know, you’ve been filling your ketchup dips wrong

Kris Allen

It’s OK! I have to for the past 21 years iv’e been crawling this planet. I was surfing the jungle we call internet and read a post from a blogging site, and I immediately felt that I had to share this with everyone.

It turns out the cute little cups are made to fan out (explaining the design) so you have have a much wider circumferential  dipping radius.

This is great news to me, because I always felt that when I wanted tip an oddly shaped food into my ketchup, my world would collapse because i either got too much or id have to squeeze the paper cup.

Overall this turns out to be one of the many things that most people just don’t think about because in today’s world every thing is made to fit.

Who ever invented the little paper cups is a jerk for not publicizing this little secret.

“Ha! No no..just leave that part out…they’ll figure it out eventually..”

Well hey now you know and the world is just a little bit more of a better place!

Letters To The Post: Sheldon Statewide Coming to North Platte

Railroads and the Making of Modern Americ a coming to North Platte

Exhibition open M-F, 9-5:00 or by appointment. SEPTEMBER 28 – OCTOBER 26 FOR TOURS

This year’s exhibition, “Railroads and the Making of Modern America” is organized by William Thomas, John and Catherine Angle Chair in the Humanities and Professor of History at UNL and is on view at the Sheldon Museum of Art until May 27, 2012. It will then travel to greater Nebraska. Occurring on the 150th anniversary of the Homestead Act, the Morrill Act, and the Pacific Railway Act the exhibition provides the opportunity for discussion of these important pieces of legislation that helped shape Nebraska. From the 19th century onward the railway became a political force that altered the American landscape and shaped economic growth. Railroads played a vital role in reconfiguring the country’s understanding of time and space and American’s relationship towards nature. The railroad’s significance to Nebraska is reflected in the state’s curriculum. The exhibition allows for connections to be made to the social studies framework. Railroads are included in the 8th grade standards under “time”, “continuity”, and “change” with a proposed analysis of railroad construction. The exhibition is an ideal way to foster interdisciplinary connections between art and history curriculums.

Really? 120-112=8 … Letters To the Post..

Dear North Platte Post,

ARE YOU FOR REAL? If you cannot figure out the difference between 20 and 12 then you should NOT be handling money at the register. Epic Fail JCP.

So I was paying at JCPenney, the bill was $112 even. She asked if I would be paying with cash, check or credit card. I said cash, she hit the total button or whatever ends the transaction and the drawer popped open. She said “that’ll be $112 even”. I handed the clerk $120. She took the money, counted it, put it in the drawer and walked away without closing the drawer. She walked to another register to get a CALCULATOR. Seeing what she was doing I told her, “it’s 8”. Apparently me talking messed her up because she had to hit the clear key several times and start over. I told her again “it’s 8” and she ignored me a second time. Set the calculator down which was showing a big fat 8 and handed me back $8.

Seriously……….

(News Submission From Post Reader!) Welcome Visitors!

(NORTH PLATTE) The Northern National Softball tournament is in full swing this morning. I had the opportunity to talk with a group of players and parents from the Chicago area last night. They are getting a very good impression of North Platte and all it has to offer. I would urge all residents of North Platte to make everyone associated with this tournament to feel very welcome in our city.

Nebraska Has a New Alternate Uniform, and It’s Terrible

Earlier this morning at Big Ten Media Day in Chicago, a video preview was shown that contained images of the long-rumored and long-awaited Nebraska football alternate uniforms. Head coach Bo Pelini confirmed that these are the real deal, while Rex Burkhead called them “Really cool.”

You be the judge…

My view? They’re horrifying. They look like The Noid, for God’s sake.

The old saying is ‘Look Good, Play Good’. If that’s the case, Nebraska’s in DEEP trouble when they wear these when Wisconsin comes to Lincoln to open the Big Ten schedule.

More pictures here… if you dare.

Deflated sex doll floating in river, daring policemen come to the rescue..

By Kris Allen

(BEIJING) The policemen acted right, and they rock for their dedication. Policemen saw a female inflatable sex toy floating down a river, policemen struggled for a tremendous hour to get the toy back to safety.

As it was, the body was discovered to be an inflateable sex toy in the China Shandong province. The policemen said they have to react. After all it did look like a woman, shape and all..
