(POLL)Conrad Murray. Guilty or not?

Day two in the manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray included testimony from Michael Jackson’s personal assistant and head of security as well as employees of AEG Live, which was promoting his doomed This Is It comeback tour.

Among yesterday’s revelations:

Michael Emir Williams, Jackson’s personal assistant, says Dr. Murray was “frantic” on the day the singer died and left him an urgent voice message. Williams said he returned Murray’s call minutes later and recalled that Murray said Jackson had a bad reaction and that he should immediately send someone. Jackson’s assistant noted that Murray did not tell him to dial 911.

In establishing a timeline of events, the prosecution established that Murray called Williams at 12:13 p.m., rather than calling for an ambulance. An ambulance wasn’t called until 12:20 p.m.

Murray requested a CPR machine for Jackson during his run of shows in London.

Faheem Muhammad, the ex-chief of Jackson’s security team, said Jackson’s oldest children reacted in horror when they saw their father dead.

Another witness testified that Murray may have sought to hide evidence of drug use.

AEG Live co-CEO Paul Gongaware returned to the stand and testified that Murray had initially asked for $5 million a year to take care of Jackson. When that was rejected, Michael insisted that he wanted Murray to be his personal physician and instructed Gongaware to offer $150,000 a month.

(POLL)IF you could get away with it, would you?

Most people live their lives on the straight and narrow. They do their best to do the right thing and are very reluctant to “be naughty.” But why?

Part of it could have something to do with being raised right and respecting the law.

But, most of it is about being afraid of being caught and being embarrassed.

What if nobody was watching? What if you were certain to not get caught?

What would you do if you knew you could get away with it?
Where would you go? What would you do?
Would you spy on someone? Who would it be and why?
Would you steal from someone? What would you take?
How guilty would you feel about getting away with the crime?

(POLL) How do you rate yourself?

A recent UCLA survey found that most men and women consider themselves better than average in the looks department.

The Frisky.com decided to take their own informal survey, asking: “On A Scale Of 1-10, How Would You Rate Your Appearance?”

1-3 (extremely unattractive) — 7.8 percent
4-5 (average) — 37.19 percent
6-7 (above average) — 40.76 percent
8-10 (smokin’ hot) — 14.26 percent
So, basically the same results as the UCLA study — which means most of us think we’re pretty hot.

Sara says she’s not confident she should be a Step Mom. Is she being selfish? Give her your advice here

I’m having a total meltdown about my dating life and I’m hoping you can help.

Long story short, I met this hot, older guy at a restaurant four months ago when he sent over a bottle of wine to my table.

He was very sweet and we ended up going out on a date. We’ve been dating ever since and I’ve grown to care about him very much and could definitely see a more serious relationship with him.

Here’s the problem — I’m 25 and he’s 40. While that in itself isn’t a problem for me, this is: He has two kids.

He shares custody with his ex-wife so the 13-year-old and 9-year-old are with him every other week and I end up spending a lot of time with them as a family.

I feel like I’m way too young to step into the role of step mom and I don’t know how to tell him this without feeling selfish.

What do I do? The kids are really sweet, but I don’t know if I’m ready to settle down yet — and and I don’t want to be around the kids now — and then disappear later!

Please help me figure this out!

Thanks,
Sara

More men are getting full wax works. What? What?

A chain of waxing boutiques in London has found that guys are visiting to get all-body wax treatments. That’s right –head-to-toe hairlessness.

For $430, guys are having the hair ripped out of their eyebrows, nose, ears, back, chest, stomach, legs, arms, underarm and of course a Brazilian or Hollywood wax.

If you’re interested, keep in mind that you’ll only stay hairless for six weeks, at which time you’ll have to do it all again — and fork over another $430.

Ouch.

GUYS.. This question is for you!

Is there any grooming that your wife or girlfriend nags you to take care of? Why is it so important to her? How diligent are you with following her suggestions?

Making new friends.. Can it be harder than dating?

When it comes to making new friends, it can be harder than dating.

It’s a totally different kind of expectation when it comes to meeting cool chicks that you just want to hang out with.

Here are some hints when it comes to scoping out new gal pals …

  • Throw out all expectations. We are far too hard on ourselves, and we are our own worse critics.  Half the time what you’re thinking isn’t anywhere accurate to reality, so let it go.
  • Don’t stress out about it. If they don’t like you for who you are, forget them. You want real people you connect with, and real friends. Changing who you are to accommodate those around you is never a good thing. You’re not being true to yourself, and down the road, they’ll only call you out on it. It’s best to go out, have fun, do your thing, and be yourself. Talk about what you want to talk about, and share what you know. Stop with the pressure — it’s not worth it.
  • For the most part, people just want someone to hang out with. A lot of people have many acquaintances but very few good friends.  Think about it that way, and you’ll be OK in life.

Shoulder Pads. Should they make a comeback?

There are some fads from the ’80s that are coming back, whether we like them or not — like shoulder pads!

Cowboys and Aliens star Olivia Wilde showed up to the premiere wearing a little red frock with a couple of exaggerated shoulders. And as much as we’d like to hate it … she looked great!

Just Asking … How do you feel about shoulder pads making a comeback? What old styles have you dusted off and rocked lately?

Another Day In Paradise…

Hello North Platte! Hopefully you have all had a chance to read my book, “Welcome to Nebraska.” If not, I recommend getting it. IMMEDIATELY!!! But, shameless plugs aside, I would like to thank the North Platte Post for giving me the opportunity to directly engage with you, my endearing public.

Ok. All jokes aside, I realize my book has created a bit of a stir in our fair city, and a number of questions continue to surface about me and the content within. So, I have decided to dedicate my first blog entry on the Post to answering at least a handful of those questions. And please, feel free to insert your own queries here and I will attempt to answer them to the very best of my ability. Here goes:

1) Do you hate North Platte? The answer is a resounding “no.” I have spent a good portion of my life in the cozy confines of this community, and am not ashamed to call it my “hometown.” However, as many other “lifers” under the age of 40 will most likely agree, there is a lack of mainstream excitement here. That is why I attempted to create my own.

2) Are you a drug addict? Again, resoundingly “no!” That being said, I have engaged in a bit of research over the past two decades which involved me being, as one law enforcement official once told me, “not in the fire, but close enough to get burned.” I, unlike the characters in my book, was smart enough to observe behaviors without having to exhibit them.

3) Will you write again? I hope so. It is astoundingly hard to write a book, especially a fiction piece when you have nothing to go on but imagination and natural ability. I am not an “educated” writer, nor do I enjoy the luxury of a publisher, agent, specialized training, etc. I was a man with a story to tell, and I told it. However, the pieces of a sequel have been floating around my mind, so, God and time willing, I do plan to write again.

Well, that’s it for now. Post comments as you will and I will answer them accordingly. In closing, I wrote “Welcome to Nebraska” because I was not satisfied saying, “You know, I should really write a book.” I just decided to do it. You should try it. It’s actually very fun….
