Pets For Christmas

Here is my annual letter on surprising someone with a pet for Christmas. If it saves one pet from going to an unwanted home then it’s worth submitting it each year!!
It’s that time of year when we are thinking of what to get people for Christmas and some think a good gift would be a cute cuddly puppy or kitten. Whether buying one from a pet store, a breeder, or adopting from a shelter, this is a decision that needs to be carefully thought out by all that are involved – not just a surprise sprung on the gift recipient. Energy, money and time are involved in pet ownership and some people do not want the responsibility. And there are those that think a puppy or kitten are so cute….until they chew up something, mess in the house, or just simply grow bigger. Then they aren’t so cute anymore and end up at the shelter, or worse, ignored on a chain in the back yard. Please, if you are considering a pet as a gift for someone this Christmas, or anytime of the year, make sure the recipient wants a pet and take them to pick it out together.
And by all means, adopt from an animal shelter. There are so many wonderful loving pets at the shelter that need a home. Not only will you adopt your best friend, you will save a life. Older dogs and cats make wonderful companions, too! Also, please spay and neuter your pets to stop pet over-population. Happy Holidays & God Bless!

How Sex Changes After Marriage..

A bizarre phenomenon occurs after marriage – the sex seriously changes! Some changes are good and some not so good, but it’s all part of the transition into married life. Have you experienced any of these?

  • The perfection of the quickie: With marriage comes serious time constraints and responsibilities. Throw in a couple of kids, and the leisurely days staying in bed all day together become a thing of the past. Sometimes you just have to grab and go wherever and whenever you have a few minutes!
  • All embarrassment and shyness are gone: You aren’t always going to be freshly shaved or looking like you just stepped out of a salon, and there is something beautiful and amazing about that – he loves you anyway! Forget the shyness about your body too – without the discomfort of being naked, sex can be much more satisfying for both of you!
  • Baby making sex: If kids are a priority, sex can sometimes become a chore instead of just a pleasure …
  • The amount of nookie seriously declines: It just happens when you’ve been with someone for a while – sometimes a good night’s sleep trumps sexy times.
  • Vacation sex is amazing: Something about being away from home makes being romantic with each other like it was when you first started dating!

Just Asking … Has your sex life changed since you’ve been married? How?

Autopsy Results: Choked To Death On Roaches

An autopsy has concluded that a Florida man choked to death after downing dozens of live roaches during a contest earlier this year.

The report released Monday says 32-year-old Edward Archbold of West Palm Beach died as a result of “asphyxia due to choking and aspiration of gastric contents.”

Lab tests for drugs came back negative. The death has been ruled an accident.

Archbold died after downing the bugs as well as worms in October for the contest at Ben Siegel Reptile Store in Deerfield Beach, about 40 miles north of Miami. The grand prize was a python.

Archbold became ill shortly after and collapsed in front of the store. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said none of the other contestants became ill.

Post Card Makes Destination 70 Years Late

A postcard mailed nearly 70 years ago has finally arrived at the former upstate New York home of the couple who sent it.

The postcard was sent July 4, 1943, from Rockford, Ill., to sisters Pauline and Theresa Leisenring in Elmira.

Their brother, George Leisenring, was stationed at Rockford’s Medical Center Barracks at Camp Grant, an Army post during World War II. Their parents were visiting him when they mailed the postcard home.

The postcard reads in part, “Dear Pauline and Theresa, We arrived safe, had a good trip, but we were good and tired.”

Elmira’s Star-Gazette newspaper reports the postcard arrived last week at the family’s former home, where a different family now lives.

A postal official says the postcard may have been found by someone outside the postal service and placed in the mail.

Woman Kept Her Dead Husband At Home For A Few Years & Children To Feed It

Russian authorities say a woman with five children kept her husband’s body in their apartment for almost three years after his death.

Prosecutors in the central Yaroslavl region said the unidentified woman, described as a devout Pentecostal Christian with a psychiatric record, was so distraught when her husband died of natural causes in 2009 that she believed he “was bound to resurrect.”

An investigation was opened after the body was found in a dumpster in a plastic bag in July.

The prosecutors’ office said Monday that the woman kept the cadaver in a bed in a room of her apartment and asked her children to talk to it and feed it.

The office says two children decided to dispose of the body when the family moved to another apartment.

Some Deer Enter A Department Store & Didn’t Make A Mess

Shoppers in Iowa got an unusual glimpse of wildlife Monday morning when a doe and two fawns wandered into a department store.

Coralville Police Chief Barry Bedford says the deer used doors that open automatically to get into a Kohl’s store.

He says the fawns stayed in the store’s vestibule, but their mother made it into the store and headed toward the back.

Police say employees opened up some back doors and the doe exited. The two fawns turned around and used the automatic exit doors to leave the store.

No injuries or damage was reported.

A Judge Was Asked If They Could Have One Dance With Mary-Jane

A judge’s offer to allow an Ohio drug defendant the chance to stay out of prison if he’d give up marijuana might have just gone up in smoke.

Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Melba Marsh says she was astonished by the response from 19-year-old Damaine Mitchell on Wednesday.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Thursday that Mitchell told the judge he likes smoking weed and staying off it so he could stay out of prison would be “a challenge.” He told the judge he could try to quit but made a request: Could he “at least get one more joint in?”

The judge quickly said no. She wants Mitchell back in court next week before she decides what to do with his trafficking case.

A message left for Mitchell’s attorney hasn’t been returned.
