Panthers, Eagles and Wildcats Roll – Bulldogs Tonight on ESPN Radio 1410

The Hershey Panthers wrapped up their regular season with a 54-18 win over Dundy County-Stratton in Benkelman last night. Jimmy Moore threw two touchdowns and ran for another for the Panthers in the victory, which moves them to 5-3. Elsewhere in high school action last night, Sutherland fell at Cambridge 42-26, Brady routed Hayes Center 52-16, Wallace routed Eustis-Farnam 50-26, and Ogallala blanked Gothenburg 21-0. Tonight on ESPN Radio 1410, the North Platte Bulldogs complete their season with a road matchup against Fremont. Both the Bulldogs and Tigers are 1-7 and would love to end their seasons on a winning note. Coverage starts at 6:30, leading to the kickoff at 7. Also tonight in Lincoln County football action, Maxwell takes on Crawford.

Bulldog Volleyball Tops Scottsbluff In Four

The North Platte Bulldog volleyball team hadn’t played a match since October 8, but showed very little rust in a four-set victory over Scottsbluff at the Dawghouse last night. The Bulldogs came out firing and won the first set 25-20, but the Bearcats clawed back for a 25-19 victory in set number two. North Platte controlled the next two sets, winning them 25-16 and 25-19, to finish off the triumph. Anna Alberry led the potent Bulldog attack with 18 kills. Kenzie Michaels added 13 kills. The Bulldogs improve to 10-14 with the win. They play Kearney and Grand Island in a triangular in Grand Island on Saturday afternoon.

Bulldog Volleyball Hosts Scottsbluff (Listen Live on ESPN Radio 1410)

Tonight on ESPN Radio 1410, its North Platte High School volleyball. The Bulldogs, who are 9-14 on the season, welcome Scottsbluff to the Dawghouse tonight. It’s the first time the Bulldogs have played since losing twice at a triangular at Lincoln Northeast back on October 8. Coverage of Bulldog volleyball will begin fifteen minutes prior to the start of the match at approximately 7 PM.

Prep Football Preview, Week Eight (Bulldogs on ESPN Radio 1410, Panthers on Q-Country 107.3)

With only two weeks left in the high school football season, some teams are pushing for a playoff berth while others just want to finish the year on a high note. The North Platte Bulldogs play their final home game of the season tonight as they host Norfolk. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action with the pregame show at 6:30 and the kickoff at 7. The Hershey Panthers hope to make a late-season statement as they play host to Cambridge in their home finale. You can hear that game on Q-Country 107.3 FM, with coverage starting at 6:30 with the pregame show and a 7 o’clock kick. Elsewhere, the St. Patrick’s Irish welcome Dundy County-Stratton to town, Sutherland is at home against Bridgeport, Brady hosts Wallace in a Lincoln County showdown, and Maxwell travels to Sandhills/Thedford.

Bulldog Boys Tennis Team Finishes Season At State

At the Class A state tennis tournament in Omaha, both singles players and both doubles teams from North Platte were eliminated yesterday. Singles players Mitchell Twidwell and Michael Odle lost their first round matches. The doubles teams of Jake Berglund and Cameron Bargell, and Skyler Golter and Charley Halligan, each won their first round matches before losing in the second round.

Bulldog Boys Tennis Team Begins State Competition Today

The Class A state boys tennis tournament opens play today at the Koch Tennis Center in Omaha, and the North Platte Bulldogs have a singles player and a doubles team seeded. At number one singles, unseeded senior Mitchell Twidwell plays seventh seed Ryan Fehr of Columbus. Junior Michael Odle is the tenth overall seed at number two singles. He plays William Campbell of Millard West in the first round. At number one doubles, the team of senior Cameron Bargell and junior Jake Berglund earned the number nine overall seed. They take on the team of Sunday Htoo and Dane Ye La from Omaha South in their first match. At number two doubles, North Platte’s team of senior Skyler Golter and junior Charley Halligan are unseeded, and take on Grant Jirka and Craig Ackman of Columbus in their first match.

State Girls Golf Wrapup

The first fall sport to complete its season wrapped up yesterday, as the state girls golf tournaments came to a close. The North Platte Bulldogs finished eleventh out of twelve teams in the Class A tournament at the Norfolk Country Club. The team shot a two-day score of 821, 136 strokes behind state champion Grand Island. Bulldogs senior Karissa Moreland shot an 87 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 176, good for a tie for fifteenth, thirteen shots behind state champ Gentry Carveth of Lincoln Southwest. In the Class C tournament at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, Gothenburg junior Heidi Teahon finished with a two-day total of 210. That score was 66 strokes behind Danielle Lemek of Doniphan-Trumbull, who won her fourth consecutive state title, only the second girls golfer in state history to do so.

Girls Golf State Tournament, Day One – Bulldogs, Swede Hit The Links

The North Platte girls golf team is in eleventh place out of twelve teams after the first day of the Class A state tournament at the Norfolk Country Club. Karissa Moreland was the top performer for the Bulldogs on the day, carding a seventeen-over par 89. That score puts her in a tie for 15th among all individuals, eight strokes off of the lead. Jordyn Pearson, Karli Montgomery, Jenae States and Tessa Burford are also competing for the Bulldogs at state, with Pearson just outside the top 50 individually after shooting 32-over par. Gothenburg’s Heidi Teahon is competiting at the Class C state tournament at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. Teahon carded a 34-over par on her first day, placing her in a tie for 50th individually. The state girls golf tournaments come to a close this afternoon.

The North Platte Bulldogs and Hershey Panthers each take on their biggest rivals tonight. For the Bulldogs, they hope to snap their five-game losing streak against Kearney at Foster Field. ESPN Radio 1410 has the action from Kearney tonight, with pregame coverage starting at 6:30 and the kickoff at 7. The Panthers are also trying to get back on track after losing two games in a row. They’ll travel to Sutherland tonight and face the Sailors, who are searching for their first win. Q-Country 107.3 FM is the home for Panther football tonight, with the pregame at 6:30 and a 7 o’clock kick. Elsewhere in prep football tonight, St. Pat’s heads to Cambridge for a pivotal district clash. Maxwell looks to snap their three-game skid at Hemingford. Wallace hosts unbeaten Hayes Center and Brady welcome Wauneta-Palisade.

District Softball – Bulldogs Face Elimination, Swedes One Win From State

District softball playoffs got underway yesterday, and North Platte stayed alive in the A4 district with a 9-1 victory over Omaha North in an elimination game. The Bulldogs were bounced to the elimination bracket with a 7-4 loss to Columbus in the first round. They get another crack at the Discoverers today in another elimination game at 11 AM. If the Bulldogs win, they will have to beat the district hosts Millard West twice to claim the district crown and earn a trip to state. In the C6 district, the Gothenburg Swedes are one win away from a state berth. The top-seeded Swedes routed Blue Hill 10-0 and shut down Southern Valley 8-0 to reach the final. They will play either Blue Hill, Chadron, or Southern Valley for the right to go to state at 12:30 in Gothenburg, with a second championship game to follow if necessary.
